North to the Future

No, actually my experience with many bears in northern Canada is different. The bears are not looking for a fight unless they have some protective issue with offspring or feel otherwise threatened with survival. Other than that they are very easy to get along with and can be very entertaining at at times - like hanging around in the bushes and waiting to steal the fish you have caught and put on the river bank.
I have enormous respect for bears and really enjoy it when we can co-exist in their territory.

I chased a pregnant moose out of the yard yesterday. Yeah, it was lying down in back of the shed with labored heavy breathing. I suspected that labor was imminent. I don't care for the calves to be born in my back yard. First of all, mama takes over the yard and we cannot safely get to the greenhouse to maintain the plant. Seond, baby moose are dinner for the brown bears. I don't need them here either. Passing through is one thing, but sniffing out dinner is something else.

Mama grizzly and her two cubs strolled through the yard at 3:30a. I never woke up.
