North to the Future

If you've got time, this podcast, has some interesting Alaskan history in it. Confessions. Mafia connections to politicians. There's conspiracy theory. And nuggets of truth that really make you wonder what the fuck was really going on. Staring Pegge Begich (widowed wife of US Congressman Nick Begich) and Jerry Pasley (low-life mob operative and the guy who married Pegge after her hubby disappeared). All, with some connections to Joe Bananas when he was 'retired' in Tucson. I can't say I believe the whole thing, but Pegge was quite the cunt and her kids were all prissy little snots. They lived in my neighborhood.

Is that a pika? I had to look that up as that critter was so interesting looking. Appearance almost like a short-eared hare.
Ding-ding

You win a prize!

It's only self satisfaction, but better than nothing.

Pika are interesting little animals that live only in a narrow climatic range in the mountains.

Have had plenty of fun on this boat in the past. She's not outfitted for racing in the photo.

Really want to post in this thread....but as the Internet is barely hobbling a long out here in western Alaska guess I hafta wait until the cable gets plugged back in...sigh

What? GCI sucks?
Well yeah! But the fiber optic cable for our internet has been broken since early June, about all I seem able to do is text. Any image upload / download is too much....

Yeah, Quintillion says they’re getting the repair done. But, with the cable install they have, it will happen again.

Sandhill cranes
They have a wonderfully loud voice especially as they migrate in spring and fall, I love seeing flocks of them fly
Thanks I wondered if they were crane but I didn’t think of sand hill ones.
A friend of mine went to Nebraska and stayed in a box on the marsh and filmed the sand hill cranes coming in, them in the film fly in, but I didn’t see what they look like up close

Just saw my first flock of cranes heading south this afternoon....it's official, summer's over here in the north anyways!
