They are always there. They traffic situation is horrid because of them. People can't just pull off to look, they have to slow down and gawk without watching where they are going. And some that do pull off, are daring to get themselves run over when they try to cross the road. Tourists.......I saw sheep on there this summer. (not a rare occurrence Im sure)
Now, if you go just beyond that spot where the sheep are to Falls Creek, there is a small parking area on the left and a steep trail on the right side of the creek that takes you up the mountain a bit. When the trail starts to flatten out a little, the grass gets high. And, if you're not thinking about what could be a few feet away hidden in the grass, it's pretty nice up there. Last time I was up there, I saw mama brown bear and last year's cub working her way down the mountain on the other side of the creek to where the sheep hang out.
