I'm afraid that the role of B'Elanna is already taken. Off the top of my head, I think the only female ST roles taken thus far are Deanna Troi, Beverly Crusher, B'Elanna, Janeway. I may have forgotten someone, so it would probably be a good idea to read the thread, to see who is still available. Thanks for your interest!

A suggestion for the thread...

The Prime Directive dictates that the Federation will not interfere in the culture of the planet... rescuing the 'downed' ships crew is the priority. Both sides will want to keep conflict to an absolute minimum...

...but what if there is something that will mean conflict? I was thinking that, maybe, the magical powers of the planets populance is granted by a piece of really, really ancient alien technology (perhaps from the pre-Q civilisation), which is powered by an Omega Particle (which Federation Captain's have Priority One orders to destroy at any cost - which should be quite a quandry for Captain Picard)... a kind of 'global replicator/holosuite' which can be activated by the correct words and gestures etc...

IF this omega particle (is that real in the ST universe, or just your idea?) does exist, you can bet it would be the most heavily guarded thing on the planet.

I didn't think there was anything pre-Q except the big bang. But I've only read a few of the books...

Oh, and yes, I definitely want to keep going with this! Reminder that the crew and equipment are shielded behind the most powerful non-detection spells Ransitar can devise. Except for the lone communicator which he slipped into his pocket for further study.

Yes, the Omega Particle is a true ST item. It is generally only created under artificial conditions, but some are supposed to exist naturally in the universe.

It was first showcased in a Voyager episode... the Borg regard it as perfection, and will go to any lengths to possess it ('Particle 246' to them I think). The Federation, after several experiments with it (it is an almost unlimited power source) went awry now have ordered that it should be destroyed, as if it becomes unstable and explodes, it destroys subspace for lightyears, making warp drive useless.
