Odd Habits?

I've been told that my natural voice is nice, it just takes me relaxing a bit to use it.

:)

Like I said, I like deep voices. I like listening to someone talk while I have my head on their chest, so you can hear the sound reverberating around their chest. It's a strange mix of sexy and safe.

Ok another odd thing, not really a habit but still odd. Put me in a room of a thirty women and I naturally find the lesbians. It isn't like a 'ooo, I can turn her straight' more like 'it's nice talking to you'.

One of my friends used me as a bloodhound to find girls for her a few times.

When my daughter was little I would put her head on my chest and sing to put her to sleep. Not exactly sexy but "Unchained Melody" always makes me think of that.

I hum without knowing I'm doing it. I constantly have music in my head and occasionally it escapes...

I do this, too. Most of the time I only become aware of it when my youngest son asks what song I'm on now.

Sometimes I use an actual bloodhound to find girls

DITTO.
Hubby gives me this funny look and I'm like "what?" And I've been humming again, but not enough to identify the tune, just odd notes. Apparently I do it when I'm asleep, too

I clench my teeth a lot. I stop if I realize I'm doing it, but most of the time I don't realize it.

Thanks to years of wearing braces as a child my jaw pops in and out of socket whenever it pleases. When I'm stressed or thinking I pop it from side to side. I also tap my thumb with the tips of my fingers one finger at a time. I've recently had to stop because one of my co-workers constantly points out that they do that for DUI checkpoints.

I have mostly broken this habit.

I used to enter passwords without thinking about what the password was so that no one could read my mind and steal it.

I did the same thing when looking at my cards playing poker.

If I ever have to actually think when I enter a password it takes me a few tries. My fingers know where they keys are more than my brain knows what it is.

I've been known to hold conversations with myself complete with having my lips move. Does it mean I hear voices in my head if I'm talking to myself? :D

Worry when you get in arguments. Otherwise, welcome to the club, we have T-Shirts and buttons.

Weird or eccentric.

Counting in binary on my fingers, converting decimal to hexadecimal to binary in my head.
Actively seeing how far back I can remember. My earliest memory is from about 4 years old.
Crossing my middle and ring fingers on both hands, then release that and cross index over middle and ring over pinky.
I hate making left turns.

Now, I'm on the Seal song that Vermilion posted about. ;)

I usually answer the phone in my head in a couple of different voices before I actually answer it for real.

I have several Lit pages open and I line the tabs in a certain order.

Another personal example, I keep a running monologue in my head. I've done it as long as I can remember. At times it takes on a slight Bogart tone depending on the mood (one of the girls I dated made me constantly hear drums when she walked) but it is usually just my voice narrating my life in my head. Sometimes it's a line or two of a story that I one day want to use and at other times I'm lost in thought for a good five to ten minutes. Granted, those times are usually about some story or plot I am trying to work out at the time but other times it just goes.

Basically, I realize I'm a little odd and I'm hoping I'm not the only one.

:D

Please, for my sanity, share.
I do this, often in the third person and sometimes in different "voices". I also hold conversations with myself in my head.

Ditto_Only I pop the jaw when I'm bored. And the cops here don't use the finger walk thing for sobriety checks, so I'm safe :D

I obsessively count the lines on window frames, lines of tile, the dots on the road, etc. I also talk to myself nearly constantly.

BTW, my normal speaking voice sounds like a radio announcer I've been on many occasions. Perhaps I should volunteer for Talking Books for the blind.

I count the stairs of every staircase I walk up or down...weird eh?
I don't know why I do it.

If I meet somebody and like them a whole lot right away, it turns out that they were abused as a child or their parents were serious alcoholics or something like that. People who've had a happy, healthy life? I never meet them and think, "Oh, wow, I MUST get to know you!"

I can be seriously distracted by words. I've awakened out of a sound sleep because I read a word I didn't know, and my brain wanted me to look it up RIGHT THEN, at 4 a.m. Geeze, Louise, it'll KEEP, for christssake! Or, I was talking with a Scottish co-worker, and he used the word "wee," and I couldn't continue talking about the subject until I'd exclaimed over how cute it was that Scots really say that.

I have some casual friends, who I just go to the movies with or talk about silly stuff with, but when I'm interested enough in somebody to want to make serious friends with them, I basically want to know everything they've ever done, thought, or felt. And while I do take "no" for an answer, my wanting to know someone this deeply is usually perceived as odd. Sometimes good odd, sometimes bad odd, and once you-scare-the-bejesus-out-of-me-go-away-and-never-come-back odd. But yeah, I like intimacy, not just with my husband, not just with my lover, but also with friends. The ones I keep tend to be the ones who bask in the attention, of course, but I'm not exactly unaffected by the others, and the one who ran like a bunny made me seriously sad.

Some people have talked about having music in their heads most of the time and some have talked about having spoken narration of their lives most of the time. I get the intersection: I often have a song in my head -- often just a small segment of a song -- that's commentary on whatever's happening in my life at the time.

When I'm engaged in any activity requiring concentration or effort, I always sing...I usually remember the words to songs, including the back-up parts and alternate that with humming or whistling. :D
