Odd Habits?

When I write stories it is usually just describing the 'pictures' in my head. I have everything in there rather like a movie going on up there and I translate it to the written word.

You people are nuts! Good to know I fit right in!!:D

My stories tend to be entirely finished before I ever even sit down to commit them to media in any way. n_n;

Both the artwork and the imagery, full stories and even at times worlds simply appear inside of me, and I have to write them down and draw them or they won't leave me alone. It's the same way with songs; Despite the fact that I know absolutely zero about music theory, or any of the technical stuff of writing or making art.

When I'm engaged in any activity requiring concentration or effort, I always sing...I usually remember the words to songs, including the back-up parts and alternate that with humming or whistling. :D

Lovely. Let's sing together in Chicago this year.

Count me in with the singing bunch. I always have some sort of soundtrack running in my head.

In our family we quote things. Movies, books, TV shows - we quote favorite lines or scenes verbatim.

My sister thinks we're odd, but at family gatherings something will spark a memory and one of the kids will say a line, then others of us will join in for a few more.

Maybe none of my memories are original!

Karaoke! :D

My daughter and I make up songs all the time.

There's the "Worst Bunmaker in the World" song, and the "Mommy's Wearin' her Stupid Pants" song. What else? Oooh, the "We're Eating all the Chili (too bad Dad)" song.

We do that, too! :)

More when the kids were younger. There's the tooth brushing song, and the getting ready for bed song, and the you should be asleep by now song (at which one point daughter aged five sang back that she should be playing with toys and not asleep).

Isn't that normal????:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Me too. I'll run the story multiple times to make sure it makes a logical flow.

When I read I have the same thing. I thought it was everybody until I took creative writing in high school and one of the girls chewed me out for my single edit stories.

When I was taking creative writing in college they asked us to turn in our revisions. Everyone else turned in one or two extra drafts... i turned in five.

I am not the only one!!!!YES!!!!

I can completely relate when part of a story is playing in my head and I have to write it down to get it out of there.

I also take my peanut butter sandwiches and flatten them before I eat them. Always have.

We change the words to current songs to fit us. I got a rendition of Clapton's 'Layla' yesterday, only with my name inserted (it fits perfectly). We also have 'Fishes are doing it for themselves' and 'Here's to you, Merry Fishmas'... (to the goldfish)

We also made up a song about popcorn with, um, not that many words in it :D (just one, I think)
And a song about our sleeping bags...

Yup, I think this is all pretty standard stuff for us creative types :D

Omg, I thought kidlet and I were the only ones who did this. Over Christmas, we found the dog's name worked in just about any Christmas song.
*sings* They never let poor Nigel play in any border collie games....
We're all hopelessly warped. :D

I skip just about every place. I don't even realize I'm doing it half the time until I look back and see Amy's frowning face way behind me (Amy's is not exactly into skipping  )

Well, with your height I think you need to skip to keep up. :p

I can't believe that I'm getting height crap from a "shrimp" who's imaginary 'friends' are even taller than she is (and they are only 4'10")!

BTW I was going to skip responding to this post but I decided to skip skipping it... just so you know...

Okay, Betsy. If made-up heights of fellow Literoticans make you feel better.... ;)

Such determination!

We do it all the time. We use one tune that's like a traditional Eastern Europe thing, complete with handclaps, and we sing in an accent, trying to make it rhyme. It's hysterical. Like, "My name is Ziggy, nobody brushes me, so I am dirty. I got a haircut, now I look silly." (That was for a sheepdog we were dogsitting last weekend.)
And we make up voices for our dogs. My BF's dog has a Spanish accent, and my dog has a high-pitched and kinda manic voice.
As far as other odd habits, I get hung up on a word and repeat it over and over in my mind. Also if anything around me, like tiles or wallpaper, has a pattern, my mind will get stuck on the pattern. Other than that, I'm pretty normal :D

I lace my left shoe left over right and my right shoe right over left.

Ok, just thought of this...

You know how you can see things in the clouds? Like maybe a cloud will look like someone's face or a dog running or something? Well, I do that with just about everything. Wallpaper, carpeting, piles of clothes, crumpled paper, whatever. Mostly it's random stuff, but I also see faces and things in patterns.

LMAO. Oh, I thought you guys were insane dog people, but now we've been infected too. :D All the dogs have secret agent names too: Sir Nigel, Copper Steele, Shadow Leopard.... We're cracked.

My father and I are always parodying things. One phrase that usually always gets parodied the same way for me is "save yourself" is always changed into "shave your elf." There are a lot of songs with that line or similar in them, and they all get the same treatment.

"Humanity" is usually turned into huge "manatee".

I throw sexual overtones in wherever I can. "I want to be sedated" is "I want to be fellated."

Our cats all have religious affiliations based on their behaviors.

Hubby and I have a game that's turned into a habit where we anthropomorphise things in order to bring each other to tears. It's rare that he actually gets me to cry (he never cries at anything), but we do make each other sad.

Example - we were watching a TV programme called Watchdog, about businesses that rip people off. They were covering this company that said they'd pick up your car from the airport while you were away, park it in a secure compound, then return it. Actually they were just parking them on a normal road and were a bit slapdash about security.
Hubby turned to me and said, in this really saddened voice, "Poor car thought he was going on a nice holiday too, but he was just abandoned on a street and left on his own."

And that's where it all started. Now we do it with everything - cars, animals, clothes. It's weird, but it's us.

If I stare at something for too long I start to see grids. It started when I was a kid and now it happens when I start to zone out. Not really a habit but it's still kind of weird.

Whenever I read a book that I like I'll make up a character to go along in that world and work how said character would interact and effect the plot.

When I read or watch something I don't like I will constantly try to fix it in my head. Not just right after I read/watch it, things tend to pop up at random times, sometimes years after the fact.

At times I will quote movies or books, my favorite being the line "and thus negating all existence" from Dogma.

For some reason I'll slip into accents at odd times, mostly when I'm bored. I don't do it so much anymore but if I'm around someone with an accent I pick it up. When I was younger my mother ran a business from home and I was banned from answering phone because I would mimic people without realizing it.
