Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

Got to get the right vibe to start the day....

Eddie Floyd - Knock On Wood

I confess, I always thought Sam and Dave did this originally - but it was written by Eddie Floyd and Steve Cropper. ♥️

This was written by David Porter and Isaac Hayes... and the backing band is Booker T and the MGs - which of course featured, Steve Cropper. ♥️ ♥️

Sam & Dave - I Thank You

Because... who wouldn't enjoy a slow ride right about now....

Foghat - Slow Ride

The first Foghat song I ever heard was off of this album, but it wasn't Slow Ride. Rather, it was the title song. The full-throttle boogie of the song got me all caught up in it and I just had to hear it again it was so good!

Foghat - Fool for the City

George Harrison-Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)

I have to finish the week off right with, of course, some more George.

Donald Fagen – New Frontier

I've been streaming music this morning and a Steely Dan song came up ("Time Out of Mind" for the record) but this song popped into my head for some reason. Haven't heard it in a long time. I have to pull out my CD of this as it's a really good album.

The Undisputed Truth - Smiling Faces Sometimes

Heard this on the local classic R&B station when I was out and about earlier today. Can't remember the last time I heard it but it's absolute musical gold. Got to listen to it again.

That is such a great song! 🥰🥰🥰

I love re-hearing great tunes like that again!

There is a commercial that uses a piano version of this as their background for the sweet sledding message of life long friends...

The Beatles - In My Life

I think the commercial is sweet, and makes me smile... but also makes my brain scream to hear the song right.

I don't think I've seen the commercial but I understand wanting to hear the song the way it was originally.

Vince Guaraldi Trio - Christmas Time Is Here

Another Christmas favorite of mine. I have the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack on CD so I always give it a listen every year at this time.

Simon & Garfunkel - The Boxer

I couldn't recall a song specifically about Boxing Day so I figured this is close enough.

Great song, amazing album. I always have to laugh though - I have this on vinyl from back in the day, I think I had it on cassette, and I have it on CD. And I love every song on it… except “Bridge Over Troubled Water” which I absolutely hate! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
