Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

Okay to bump this thread? Well I'm gonna do it anyways 😂

Paul Revere & The Raiders - Kicks

Because today is Paul Revere's (not the midnight rider guy) birthday, born January 7, 1938. Sadly lost him in 2014.

This was a big hit back in 1966, hitting #4 on the Billboard charts, yet I can't remember the last time I heard it on an oldies station. I have a best of CD collection of theirs, time to dig it out and give it a listen.
Great choice! And unusual to have a basically anti-drug song in ‘66… which was an awesome year, I might add. 🤣🤣

Kenny Loggins and Steve Perry - Don't Fight It

Another birthday boy today, this one being Kenny Loggins, born January 7, 1948. Still with us hopefully for many more years to come.

I'd forgotten all about this song. A moderate hit when it came out, got a lot of airplay as I recall. I wonder if the two ever sang this in concert anyplace, or if they performed it each on their own? One of those questions that keeps me up at night.

This morning I am listening to Phish. The CD’s Lawn Boy, A Picture Of Nector, Rift and Hoist.

All of which I bought back when they were released. And I think I bought a live CD and didn’t enjoy it at all. I know, that is their thing, but I knew them from the studio tracks which I find are a perfect balance for listening to while working.

Somehow, the live album just kind of made me loose interest for years. 🤷‍♀️

Al Wilson - Show and Tell

I love these old R&B songs, this is another I haven't heard in ages.

Pat Benatar - Everybody Lay Down

I think this was one of her last hits and from what I can tell she hasn't really recorded much since. It's been 20 years since her last album, kind of sad since she still has an incredible voice even after all these years.

Rod Stewart - (I Know) I'm Losing You

Because it's Rod the Mod's birthday, that's why! Born January 10, 1945.

And yeah, it's a cover, but it's a darn good cover. He makes it his own IMHO!

Because.... freakin' cool! But this is a short video... I would have much rather it lasted longer.

Blue Oyster Cult - Godzilla (Live at The Capitol Center, 1978)

*dances in the bedroom, listening to Blue Oyster Cult*

I really just stopped by to give you a hug (if that's okay) and say HI!!!

Blue Oyster Cult - Godzilla (Live at The Capitol Center, 1978)

I saw BOC in 1982 and they had the big Godzilla as part of the performance. During the instrumental portions the drummer was throwing drumsticks at Godzilla. It was a really good show.

Rush - The Spirit of Radio

I saw online that Rush's Permanent Waves album was released on this date back in 1980, so I had to crank something from it up.

This just popped into my head.... and I absolutely had to listen to it... and since it is so good, I thought someone else might be digging it too. 🥰🥰🥰

The Animals - It's My Life

Edit: The song came to mind because I really like the bass line. I had to think about it to remember which Animals tune had that bass line… but after hearing it again, the lyrics are actually really good for my current state of mind. 🤣🤣🤣
