Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

Birthday withes to Bob Dylan, born this day, May 24, 1941, 83 years young. A lot of songs to choose from but I went with this one as it's one of my favorites (I almost went with "Mozambique" but I think that one's a little too obscure).

Bob Dylan - Positively 4th Street

I was at Dunkin' Donuts this morning getting coffee and a song came on in the lobby while I was waiting in line and the opening drum line sounded very similar to this song. It was something contemporary, couldn't tell you the name of it, but it sparked me to give this a listen.

Paul Simon - 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover

This song was being discussed on a video I was watching this morning so I had to give it a listen:

The Troggs - Wild Thing

Birthday wishes to John Fogerty, born this day, May 28, 1945, 79 years young, and still touring! Going out this summer with my man George Thorogood opening for him. Unfortunately for me, unless they add more dates, the closest for me is in South Carolina, which is a bit of a trek.

Anyways, tons of songs out there to choose from, but I think this one works.

John Fogerty - The Old Man Down the Road

Birthday wishes to Melissa Etheridge, born this day, May 29, 1961, 63 years young. I liked her first couple of albums; there was an edginess and raw sound to them. Then they became a little too slick-sounding for my taste, but those first couple are classics IMHO

Melissa Etheridge - Bring Me Some Water

My preferred version of Somebody to Love, from Bless Its Pointed Little Head, mainly because of Mary Balin's backing vocals. He hits some really cool notes during the chorus that stand out. He didn't get enough credit as a great singer IMHO.

Jefferson Airplane - Somebody to Love
