Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

Birthday wishes to Melissa Etheridge, born this day, May 29, 1961, 63 years young. I liked her first couple of albums; there was an edginess and raw sound to them. Then they became a little too slick-sounding for my taste, but those first couple are classics IMHO

Melissa Etheridge - Bring Me Some Water
I loved both those albums too. I can't say I lost interest in her or her music, not at all. I just kind of stopped buying CDs and listening to anything new at all around that time. Life went in a very different direction for quite a while.

Got a sudden craving for some Van Halen!

Van Halen - Mean Street
I love your thinkin'!!! I actually was listening to that album a few days ago, for the first time in a long time. I remember buying that on cassette, and listening to it in my car, stereo cranked up, windows rolled down, just feeling good about being alive.

I miss that. 🥰 🥰 🥰

I'll still listen to music in my car with the windows down (as long as it isn't too hot here in Florida) though I don't usually have it cranked up too loud. It'd be just my luck I'd get pulled over for violating a noise ordinance

And speaking of driving around with the windows down listening to music, I was playing some Bob Seger over the weekend and when this song came on I remembered how popular it was when it first came out, but rarely ever hear it anymore (Turn the Page and Night Moves are about all you hear on classic rock radio anymore). Anyways, it's still a great song.

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Against The Wind

I was looking to send @BrendaD a bouquet of record albums instead of flowers. Cute idea, right?! But, then I saw images where they made flower bouquets from recycled vinyl records, and my heart cracked a bit! What kind of monsters DO THAT!? 🥺

Woodchoppers Ball - 1939
