Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

The cartoon below inspired me to listen to some Grateful Dead.

The Grateful Dead - Touch of Grey

Okay - because you posted this, you made me think of this album a friend had a million years ago. And imagine that! It's on youTube!!!

Because we all need to hear a punk rock version of Truckin' from the Grateful Dead.

Cracks me up to hear it again. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

(I'm not saying this is good. I'm saying, it's damn funny and I'm sure that's all it was intended to be)

Here is a cover of a hit song by Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn.

This is by a guy who has an amazing voice - in my opinion.

William Michael Morgan and Kylie Frey
"Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man"

Birthday wishes to Boz Scaggs, born this day, June 8, 1944, 80 years young! This is one of my favorites of his; it sounds like Toto because they played on the album.

Boz Scaggs - Breakdown Dead Ahead

Saw Boz (along w Van Morrison) at JazzFest ‘19 (50th year they held it) in New Orleans. His voice was still strong then and his playing was phenomenal! As was Van the Man! My wife was at the Al Green show. For some reason the dipsticks at JF put them opposite each other.

Decent song, the guitar work during the intro is what makes it really stand out for me.
I certainly don't think it's a masterpiece or anything... I just like the song. Sometimes simple, loud, in your face with tons of distortion puts me in a better mood.

And I'm feeling pretty good this morning, and listening to it again makes it just a little bit better. 🥰🥰🥰

I was watching the Biography episode on Kenny Rogers and this song was mentioned so I had to give it a listen as it was always a favorite of mine.

Kenny Rogers and The First Edition - Reuben James

Birthday wishes to Carly Simon, born this day, June 25, 1943, 81 years young! It'd be too easy to go with You're So Vain or Nobody Does it Better as song choices. This one, however, is one of my favorites and was her first big hit, and sadly never gets played anymore.

Carly Simon - That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be
