Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

This came out a couple years before I was born. I first heard it on an album of oldies I picked up in the late 70s, had a lot of 50s groups on it. You don't find that sort of stuff anymore. Even record stores are slowly becoming a thing of the past

Royal Teens - Short Shorts
How fun! I remember first hearing that when it was used in a tv commercial in the 70’s. I think the product was for leg razors. 🤣🤣

Birthday wishes to Ian Anderson, born this day, August 10, 1947, 77 years young. Of course, best known with his work with Jethro Tull. He's another singer with a distinct voice you can almost always recognize when you hear him. On top of that, how many rock bands have their singer play a flute like it's a lead instrument?

Jethro Tull - Bungle In The Jungle

Earlier I was watching a video by the Professor of Rock talking about this song. Lots of cool trivia about it, and I didn't know John Fogerty of CCR sued The Hollies over it!

The Hollies - Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)

Here's the video about the song if you're interested:

With all the Tull songs above, it took me back in the way back machine. I was familiar with all the hits, but did not own an album. A Deadhead friend at summer school my freshman year (yeah…wonder why I was there? 😂) had this album in his vinyl collection, which was extensive! We may or may not have spent a few hazy daze listening to this!

Birthday wishes to the late Dan Fogelberg, born this day, August 13, 1951. Died way too young at age 56 but we still have his music. This is one of my favorites by him.

Beat Me Daddy, Eight To The Bar - 1940ish
Song by The Andrews Sisters and Vic Schoen and His Orchestra

I like the name of this

Birthday wishes to Steve Martin, born this day, August 14, 1945, 79 years young. Yes, he's better known as an actor and comedian, but he's also quite the talented banjo player and has released a few albums of bluegrass music, but this is probably his most famous song!

Steve Martin - King Tut
