only 6% of scientists are republican

"Scientists" are usually life long students connected inextricably to the teat of higher learning. Try spending a lifetime in college and maintain any sense of reality.

 Academia is as much a part of reality as anything else.

I was aware of the involvement of the AAAS...but it begs the question...

Were the "scientists" all AAAS members? Was any scientist outside the AAAS polled?

doesn't matter...all of them still have at least 8 more years of school than you

People who are knowledgeable usually do vote Democrat. The great majority of college professors and journalists vote Democrat. Most businessmen vote Republican. Unfortunately, they rarely know much beyond their lives and their companies. :(

For example:

--------

[Henry] Ford, who as a boy obtained only a skimpy education in a rural school, knew nothing about the Civil War campaigns of Generals Grant and Sherman, confused the War of 1812 with the American Revolution, and when asked to identify famous traitor Benedict Arnold replied: "He is a writer, I think."

Did your post have a point?

Do you honestly believe that jounalists are more "knowledgeable" than businessmen? They may be up on current events, but it hardly makes them more intelligent or any smarter.

Educators vote Democrat because it is the Democrats that support the education unions and promise massive funding increases. (A promise that rarely gets fulfilled.) It has nothing to do with Democrats having a more enlightened position, it is all about money.

Wow, you are an idiot. That's the front runner for the stupidest quote of the month.

Don't worry, though, Phrodeau has yet to comment.

bob jones university does not count. enither does the shitty school falwell established

Grandfather - PhD from Florida State
Aunt - PhD from Johns Hopkins
Aunt - JD
Dad - Masters from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
Aunt - Masters from Juiliard
Uncle - Masters from University of Minnesota
Uncle - PhD from University of Houston

Sure, we're not Ivy League....but I'd say the family is more educated than most.

Businessmen are narrow in their understanding. Journalists, and college professors have more general knowledge. That is why they usually vote Democrat.

Even here I notice that the wingnuts rarely have any knowledge beyond a their own lives and a few cliches they pick up from right wing web sites and hate radio.

you said in a previous post that you would not take my word for what it is without evidence(which you were later given) so you must understand if i do th same for you.

I almost want to create an alt called Devils Advocate...

But I think journalists don't have to have general knowledge to do their job. They just get the basic facts from a story (and any interesting extra information) and present them in a way that people can get the info efficiently.

I think professors and students vote liberal partially because they're smarter, but honestly, it also probably is influenced by the idealism that is a natural by-product of college life.

You obviously do not understand how this works here....you are supposed to over simplify everything and reduce things to a simple single cause and effect situation.

Example: Most educators are liberal so liberals must be smarter.

I won't even start on all the logical fallacies.

Your thinking brings to mind what a great journalist, H.L. Mencken said:

"Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach."

And that pithy little quote has become the philosophical underpinning for today's anti-intellectualism Republican party....
