OOC casting call for Bloodstone

You know what, I chose not to point it out, but it's kinda fucked up. I only refer to people by their username if they don't specify a name. And usually, I'm just ambiguous

Actually, if I make a mistake I'd prefer it if someone just PMed me or told me and I would edit it as I did...

I rarely am ambiguous because that could lead to confusion...

Yup, looks like a big ole brain fart for Shaq, but hey we need to cut him a little slack. They did just win the championship again, maybe he is still not sobered up yet. hehehe

The Clippers are on the up and up!

they may trade Odom for a Andre Miller and they may deal their 8th and 12th pick for a higher pick or another player...

Look out for them they may be the most athletic team in the league....

Andre Miller is a highly underrated player. If the Celtics had him instead of Kenny Anderson, they would have been the one in the finals getting swept by the Lakers.

Chewey,
I don't just know your wife, she is my guru, my Yoda... You see all young women have a mentor who they study under for several years before they are allowed to marry and nag a man of their own. One day I hope to be worthy of her line and have a man of my own.

Hello Lauren

Hi folks.. I've a link here for you with a picture of a Bloodstone: http://www.theimage.com/gemstone/quartz/quartz26.html
And some information:
Bloodstone, green jasper dotted with bright red spots of iron oxide. This attractive chalcedony quartz is also known as Heliotrope because in ancient times polished stones were described as reflecting the sun: perhaps the appearance of the gem reminded the ancients of the red setting sun reflected in the ocean.
The legend of the origin of bloodstone says that it was first formed when some drops of Christ's blood fell and stained some jasper at the foot of the cross.
Even today, finely powdered bloodstone is used as a medicine and aphrodisiac in India. Perhaps that explains why today it is difficult to find fine specimens of bloodstone on the market. Bloodstone is mined in India, Australia, and the United States.

To find more information, use "Bloodstone Gem" as your search parameters.

LOL Fire,

Wish you'd posted that link earlier... hehehe... could've saved me from embarassment:p :D

Thanks for the PM... and edited to add Lauren's name to the list of thanks for saving my ass, again...

So Fire , is this ghost going to come meet us soon, or do we have to track it down?

Chewey

To answer your questions..
Chewey - you can either wander around the forest in the dark looking for the ghost or you can return to the house.. either way, once someone decides to do something, more ghostly occurences will happen. If you go inside you'll end up outside again, and if you stay outside, you'll end up inside. Remember though, it is harder to see a ghost in the daytime. Its also easy to get lost on a cold dark night outside. Your choice.

Mage - My appologies, will be there once I have some questions answered..

My questions are on Ghostly Ettiquete: Can a ghost be in two places at once, and if not, is there any maximum speed a ghost can move? I've been mulling it over for a while and I figure that a ghost would be the "essence" of a person, therefore it would only be in one place at a time. However it is also a spirit and spirits, having no body can conceivably move pretty damn quick.. but is it instantaneous or is there a pause for it to dissipate then reform elsewhere or does it just walk invisibly for a while?? If it moves any faster than a run, would that not confuse the reader into thinking maybe there are two (or more) ghosts and make the story less readable? Say for instance someone is looking at something in the house and someone else was looking at something in the stable and both places had something the ghost wanted to point out...

I don't have any specific things in mind about all that, but what would happen if I appeared to Professor Plum in the library by the candlestick and also happened to be floating about the forest - even if it could be proved one was directly after the other?

Ahh. Well, technically, a ghost is still trapped in the mortal realm, so theoretically would only move as fast as they could in life, beleiving themselves still caught by the same limitations, wouldn't they? Perhaps not. Ghosts aren't my strong suit.

Besides, it isn't my thread. I've never written a ghost, and I don't know why anyone would own three shoetrees. Once again, I know nothing. I am an idiot trapped in the body of an idiot. Ignore me and all I do. *performs the Jedi minderasing trick, hoping it will work this time*

Thats a good point.. so.. walking/running to reach different destinations. Anyone else like to comment?

I don't know anyone who owns even one shoetree let alone three...

I am not an expert on ghosts either, but I would have to say that you could only appear in one place at a time. Also , normal walking and/or running speed would be about right. When I was young, we lived in a house that we thought had ghosts, honest to god; I am not kidding here.

Chewey

I'm not a ghost expert either but I was really interested in them as a kid.

As for the Plum/forest situation remember that we don't know the EXACT time the ghost appeared to us so that is managable and alright in my opinion....

As for the speed of a ghost....ghosts usually are trapped within some radius of importance to them when they were alive...I think you've got that part right if the ghost can't leave the island and doesn't go outside of an area outside of the Plum estate...

As for the ability to be in two places at once....REMEMBER (and in a non joking way chewey might be able to offer experiences of this) sometimes, especially with children there have been reports of multiple sightings that have occured simultaneously...

IE:I've read stories where parents were getting their kids ready for a bath and they leave them upstairs when they hear someone down stairs or a knock at the door. Then something like they either open the door and see a figure or when they go downstairs they see the figure in the house downstairs and then they hear their kid scream run back upstairs to see why and the kid eventually tells them they screamed cause they saw a person which they describe exactly as the one the parents saw.

So it can happen...for the sake of the story you may want to make it more simplified but I'd leave that up to you...

As for speed....I'm not so sure spirits are trapped by physical limitations...I would keep her at walking, running speed...but she can dissapear and stuff can't she?

Fire, A question:

If some of ddecide to split up, with some going into the forest and some going back into the manor, would the separate conversations be known to all, or have to be actually asked and answered?
