OOC casting call for Bloodstone

I want a divorce, you aren't meeting my needs.

LMAO!

Ok, I thought I'd drop a post on the staff, feel free to add or correct anything I say.

There is a chain of command, and a manor this big would have a very large staff.

At the top: the Head housekeeper, in charge of all the staff, planning menus, and keeper of the keys- answers to the Lord of the manor.

Next is the Butler and the cook- the butler oversees the maids and boys of the house, while the cook oversee the kitchen staff.

Next: chamber maids- they clean the rooms and serve the guests, there would be at least 2 for a large castle like this. They do less grunt work than other servants.

Then come the scullery maids and hired hands- these folks do the laundry, take care of the animals, help with the grounds under the head grounds keeper, wash the dishes, chop wood, etc etc. They are the lowest on the chain of command. There are probably several girls and young men working here. Doing the laundry for ss many guests would be a full time position.

If the place is really rich, there might be a full-time livery man to drive the coach, a man-servant for the Prof, and a wait staff, but these are extras.

My character is Housekeeper/head cook: which means she oversees the kitchen as well as the regular staff.

Any suggestions, just throw them in.

Hi everyone,

The main Butler I think would be called seneschal, although I could be wrong. Back in the old days, the chamber maids do more than just clean though. They act as 'gophers' too, meaning go for this, go for that...plus they normally would act as companions...

Cookie is the head, because she feeds everyone, plus she doesn't really do the actual cooking, just the menu and tasting...

That staffing arrangement sounds good to me :)

I'm sure we'll have no problems on that count Chewey :D I'm pretty flexible :D

Really?

Flexible..

Is it ok..if my character looks out the library window and sees the ghosty thingie..or are you invisible?

I'm visible to anyone who happens to be looking in that direction..

Well maybe not THAT flexible!  the storyline is though..

Ok cool, I just figured I would ask. I have a tendency to go off on tangents that mess things up at times.

Actually, it was a steward nowadays. They were right below the Lord of the Manor. They took care of the house's accounting, kept the keys, checked in with the butler and head of the kitchen, and basically kept the house running. They did little to no actual physical labor.

The butler is the head manservant, and in charge of the wine cellar. A manservant is basically all the domestic working men. A chambermaid looks after the rooms, cleaning, linens, making sure there's enough towels, etc.

A Scullion worked in the scullery, which was next to the kitchen. They were basically the kitchens grunt workers, they got firewood, cleaned the dishes, prepared vegetables, lugged the heavy cauldrons about. As they were part of a kitchen, they were under the direction of the head of the kitchen.

The grounds were watched over by the headsgroundskeeper, who also looked after the stable, yadda yadda.

Now, remember, there is money, but the house just started up again, and the hiring hasn't gone that far yet. We'll be working on a minimal staff.

WHY THE FUCK IS GOING ON?

I'm supposed to be signing everyone in, you can't just fucking get rooms! Do you go to hotels and just grab the frigging keys!?! You just wander off, doing whatever the hell you feel. Aggghhhh!

I'm going to lock you all in your goddamn rooms! At least that way I'll know where you are!

Grand Mage.

I'll go in and edit my second post if you want me to, to where Lauren and me are still talking to you...I know that the time frame now is all whacked out...Sorry about that...

Z

Honestly, GrandMage, if it wasnt for the fact that I was the first poster after you, I may not have thought to see you first either. Guess we are all just overly excited to get onto this thread. I know that I am .

That Zircon and me not checking in thing was my fault, Grand.

In Firesprite's first post the bridge is out and the tree is torn. On your first post too. I thought it was close to impossible for everyone to have been able to pass through the bridge without making it to the house in such a little time (the time that took from the bridge to the house) without bumping into each other on the way. It was only natural for some of the guests to have arrived earlier...

No, it's okay. I just needed to rant. Rant and rave and throw my hands about and go "AAAGGGGGHHHHHH! It's the martian fugurys!"

Which I have. Plase, do ignore me. I'm fine, everything's fine.

Ok, lets not all get into a tizzy about this..

How about we do some time manipulation here.. Often in a storm you get the huge wind gusts (down goes my tree) then a lull (enter guests) then the tail whips out and wipes out whatever was loosened up the first time round (good bye yellow brick road)

If you re-read my first post, it could be read as a flash-forward, or an overview of the opening scene, of which we are still enacting.

Some of the guests have been seen to their rooms by the butler - afterall, they were pretty wet and bedraggled, and that seems to have worked pretty well. We can assume until everyone has arrived that it is the lull, then we go from there.

By the way - in my second post the glow was moving toward the forest, not the house.

Talia,

LOL, do you want me to or not want me to smoke? The pipe tobacco has sort of a chocolaty smell and aftertaste to it. So it would be quite pleasant, unlike some foul smelling cigars and cigarettes...

Z

She's supposed to be really sickly somtimes...but you can smoke no problem..she'll have to deal with it:D ;) :D

Written like a true submissive. lol

So are we going to get a visit from this apparation during dinner or are we all supposed to be going outside?

Just a suggestion:

Since the corpse is quite old, make sure to remember that each of you was probably in this town some time ago: 10 years? When the murder was committed.

Otherwise, there will only be a couple of true suspects.

As Lovejoy keeps peering toward the exit he saw the maid use he thinks he hears the sound of someone's voice behind him. Suddenly he feels a swift wrap on the back of his head. "Ow! What the bloody hell!?" Lovejoy exclaims while turning around to see an old man before him admonishing his treatment of the staff. "Overworked my heel..." Lovejoy begins but is cut off by the butler who alerts the Grandmage of more arrivals.

Watching the grandmage as he walks away Lovejoy lets out a surprisingly immasculine shreik as the maid returns handing him his flask and a glass of whiskey. Without even waiting for the soup being served as an appetizer Lovejoy hungrily begins to drink the booze. After a few seconds his face reddens and he feels the warm liquid coarsing through his throat and into his body.

"AAAAAHHH!" he says with renewed vigor. "A drink that would not have tasted better if taken from the Queen's cup" Lovejoy proclaims while fondly looking at the almost empty glass. Gathering his senses Lovejoy listened to the conversation between Belly and Mr. Liam.

Shaq? WTF?...

Yup, looks like a big ole brain fart for Shaq, but hey we need to cut him a little slack. They did just win the championship again, maybe he is still not sobered up yet. hehehe
