There. All the members of GI Joe in the original 155, with real names and current ranks. The dead and retired are sorted out, with what killed them and what they're currently up to.

A few members are actually still serving in the Armed Forces, but I only pt into "Retired" those characters who have canon for what happens after the Joes are broken up for the first time (in 1994).

There are those in the list who have canon for the between times, like Snake-Eyes and Scarlett and so on and so on, but since we're going off on a new way, I decided to ignore those characters. Really, we could ignore anything for the Retired characters as well, but what the hay, there you go.

Awesome, totally awsome!

However there really aren't that many characters in the already retired list that Cobra would be after right off the bat, as far as I can see. Maybe Roadblock...

So, tell me Cobra Commander, who would be tops on your personal hit list? LOL!

Those few people with ? after their names mean what we think is their name or a possible alias. Possible alias for Baroness, possibel actual person for Buzzer. We just don't know!

Finished this a lot sooner, since most of the stuff was just units...

There are other Dreadnoks added, I padded the list with a few newer names, and I figue I'll just leave the others (ie, Dreadnoks troops) to be vague. Anyway, there you go. A lot less names this time around...

COBRA's ranks are shrouded in mystery. And crappy names.

Unlike the Joes, this list deviates a bit from the first 155. I mixed-and-matched a bit of later canon to show how the COBRA organization would have changed in the ensuing underground years. I hope that's okay...

Also, am I to assume Cobra Island is still a soveriegn Nation, and first base to COBRA?
ALthough I probably won't be involved iwth it too much, I'd like to see how much of my resources are available.

Cobra Island? Wasnt there something to do with a guy named Fred there? LOL!

What, do you mean when Fred VII impersonated Cobra Commander?

Cobra Island was created when Cobra built an underwater bunker of a very strong variety. When GI Joe blew it up, they aggravated a fault-line, causing a landmass in the Gulf of Mexico to grow out of the water.

The Joes and COBRA fought a bitter battle until Tomax and Xamot managed to legally declared Cobra Island a soveriegn nation in the UN. It's been the base of operations for COBRA ever since.

One of the principal landmarks of the island was a land-locked freighter caught on it during it's creation. It was this freighter that Cobra Commander locked most fo his unloyal troops in when he returned to find Destro ruling over COBRA after Fred VII's defeat at his hands, after the win against Serpentor. The land-locked freaighter was buried, killing many. A few survived, notably Firefly, Billy, and Zartan.

Actually, I'm referring to the comics. Which actually have a lot of thought and good development in them.

Cobra uses greed, ignoranc,e and terror as their primary weapons in falling America.
It has a lot to say about society's values, and how these things affect society.

And in truth, COBRA is the stronger organization, most of it's failures can be attributed to it's own faults.

And what does GI Joe stand for? Teamwork, patriotism, the law. And knowledge. After all, what did they say on the old cartoon? "Knowing is half the battle."

Wasn't Fred a crimson guard or something like that?

And the majority of the cobra characters that died in relation to that frieghter was because of food poisoning wasn't it? LOL! What a pathetic way to die...

The cartoon was alright for the most part, except that they really made Cobra Commander into kind of a whiny jackass, don'tcha think?

In the comic book, it seemed like he was a bit more with it... And they generally treated the pantheon of characters with alot more respect, it wasn't camp in the comics like it was on tv...

I think they even tried subtly linking the comics to the rest of the marvel universe a few times. There was the one storyline when Snake eyes was fighting his way out of a cobra building, in new york when they have J. Jonah Jameson cameo...

Plus about A THOUSAND TRANSFORMERS CROSSOVERS.

Dear Gods, did you read the WWII GI Joe - Transformers crossover? So friggin' badass.
Too bad the company went under after one issue of the follow-up.

Yes, Fred was a Crimson Guardsmen. All of the Fred Series were. The Fred Series consists of Crimson Guardsmen that had plastic surgery to look alike. It is beleived there were multiple series, though no other is ever shown. (Sean Collins, aka Kamakura, was son of Fred Brocca, aka Fred 1. He later became the son of Sean Collins, an old friend of Snake-Eyes and Stalker who went on tour with them and Storm Shadow. Sean Collins was Fred II.)

Yes, tehy died from food poisoning, because the freighter was buried by Cobra Commander. They ate that to survive, and died from it. Except Firefly, Zartan, and Billy. Firefly programmed a few damaged BATs to dig him a way out, using Serpentor's corpse to make it seem like his body was there.

Anyway, even though Cobra Island was bombed, I'd like to have it under my control, having been rebuilt. I'd like Dr. Knox, using Cesspool and Dr. Mindbender's old technology and notes, to have come up with a way to turn toxic waste into a form of energy and nonharmful dross. I'd like there to be a factory for that set up where the Terror Drome was, with the factory producing just enough energy to feed the Island, and it's new underground Cobra Lair. It's seem pretty up-and-up to outsiders, a Front Company now ruling the Island and employing the old Vipers.

It's a good way to have a power source on the island, a good reason no one wants to bomb it now, and a sound financial source for the island, as well as good cover for the shady operations going on. Also, if possible, I'd like DDP's The Hunt for Cobra Commander from the America's Elite line of comics to have happened a year before we start. (It shows Spirit tracking down Cobra Commander, and how Spirit goes MIA.)

And yes, in the comics line Cobra Commander is very effective at what he does. In fact, like I said, COBRA has many behind-the-scenes moves going on. While GI JOe thwarts some of their brute force actions, Cobra usually ends up ahead.

For Example, Cobra tricks GI Joe into triggering the faultline that creates Cobra Island.
Also, as I said before, Lama wrote a lot of societies minor foibles, like idiotic television, as being part of Cobra's plots, so technically, COBRA is at all times winning minor victories over the Joes. The Joes win some big flashy victories, but in the end, Joes die to nameless (at the time) SAW-Vipers, and Cobra kills their own named soldiers.

The Crimson Guard, by the way? Totally badass.

Nope, not for me.

Im still in, just hectic life and all getting in the way.

Grandmage, I know this will probably annoy you, but you have shown such great interest in the thread, and formulated enough of a basis for what you want to have done, I was wondering if you would be willing to start the thread for us?

I would like to be Snake Eyes, Roadblock and Shipwreck. And perhaps anyone else who needs to be played.

Let me know how you feel about starting the actual thread. I just don't know how to get it started, I've tried three times in the past two days to formulate an opening post and I am coming up with nothing... Nothing good anyway. LOL!

Actually, I've been considering asking to do just that.

The thread is now up.
Here's to hoping this works, ehh?

Anyway, I left the first wave of the attack up to each of you to fend off.

I'll do Kamakura's response when I get home. It's all just BATs and BAATs, mindless robot drones. So have fun, killing and blowing shit up.

They can use any weapon you want.

is this all traditional characters, or can we come up with our own?

You can feel free to create your own. However, you won't be able to post rigth off if you do. You'll have to wait unti GI Joe is reinstated, which will probably be in a day or two, once we get everyone posting.

Feel free to post the character in the meantime.

Also feel free to choose an unused Joe, and have them get killed by Cobra forces. It's a good way to spend some time until your new recruit gets in.

EDIT: Also, in posting as Hawk, I have officially hijacked this game. BWAHAHA!
*Waits for Ravenloft to hijack it back.*
