This thread has been so delightful!! The accolades it received in the awards contest only proves my point. I had hoped that it would retain the same sense of writing and style as it continues. I am not finding that to be the case as of late!

I hate to criticize or offend anyone...but, the newcomers may want to keep some of the past elements in mind when adding to this wonderful story! (of course this is just my opinion and if no one else agrees, please feel free to tell me to shut up...lol). Also, the newcomers may want to remember that not all of has the time to post as rapidly as you do. I personally prefer a bit longer thought-out post than a bunch of oneliners. (I am saying that some post too frequently...one right after another...without allowing anyone else to respond to the first post you wrote)

(Brat...I am not saying that I do not enjoy your short posts...or anyone else's short posts for that matter. This is NOT directed to you, Brat!)

I agree with you, MtnAngel. I hadn't visited the thread in a couple of days due to some RL stuff, and so today I read the new stuff for the first time. I think everybody who wants to join in the thread has got to at least try to make his/her posts fit into the story so that all the parts flow together nicely. Instead, I think we've seen instances of people trying to bend the story to fit them, with disappointing results. That's just my opinion.

That goes for me as well...What's happening now is destroying all the hard work put into this thread, and maybe this suggestion is out of the question.....BUT HERE GOES>>>

SW....I suggest strongly we lay Hawke's to Rest....and you then recast a SECOND Hawke Thread (and OOC: Thread, as well)

This way the "casting" can be contolled....the thread can be brought up to the high level of quality posting we all expect, and we dont have to drive the original thread into the MUD....

Guys: I had to drop out of the original due to the close bond between de la Vega and Monique, and the fact that de la Vega seemed to disappear (ie so would Monique therefore). If you're going to CAST (ie new chars) a new thread, I'd be happy to join in if wanted. I could adapt a character from the first thread (ie create a nun type, or a townsman) or a new character. Anyhoo, please PM me if you decide to go this way and are interested in my rejoining. Thanks, and sorry it sounds like the old thread degenerated.

Let me first say I greatly appreciate the feedback many of you have given to the direction of the thread. I have been giving some thought to it myself, though RL has dropped a couple of bombs on me lately that has kept me from posting very much.

In my opinion the newcomers are trying a bit too hard to interact with everyone else in the thread!

It is not that your char or you for that matter are disliked, High King. It is more a problem of trying too hard! Give the original cast time to read and respond to your posts! And if Divinity is reading this, please look at my advice!!

Everyone here has so much talent and cooperate well together. I am not trying to offend anyone or drive anyone away from the thread. I am merely offering my opinion!

some thoughts

Hi, everybody!

I would like to tie up some loose ends on this thread, such as getting Elizabeth and Amanda back, getting back to camp, the funeral, etc.

Many of you have expressed an interest in bringing this thread to a close and starting a Hawke's 2 thread. I am inclined that way myself.

My first idea is for our merry crew to go to England, per previous posts at the Hawke's thread. The opportunity for conflict and new characters seems to me to be quite open. There's already one possible sub-plot, revenge upon Amanda's fiance, Richard, as well as whether the Brits are truly trying to grant amnesty or if it is all a scam to capture us. It could also be that the offer is sincere, but the Admiral (remember him, the father of Richard, once captain of the ship Jeremiah was on when he was in the British Navy and who betrayed Jeremiah to the Inquisition) may have other ideas. There is also the sub plot of what to do about Clarrissa's new ship design which I think offers considerable story potential.

It would also allow some of the players such as de la Vega and Sister Therese, the priest, Monique, etc. a chance to rejoin the story if they are so inclined.

That's one idea anyway. I would very much like to entertain others.

I am a little uncomfortable, I must admit, with the increase of "magic" that is occurring. would like to hear some thoughts on that as well from the rest of you. I am flexible, but want to hear what the rest of you think.
