Yeah, I'm in favor of continuing - or finding some other way to join you guys in writing... you are fine writers, from the passion of Bart and Clarissa, to the depth of Sojournerwolf, to Brat's mystery... and the rest of you too. If SW wants to end it, then fine, at least I've been in a thread which actually ran to completion instead of fizzling.. but its been a real blast writing with you guys and gals.
I vote aye, Mateys! Maybe we can get some new people and have new adventures on the high seas! Of course I would be happy with the assemble we already have!
The talent is limitless here! But of course it is ultimately SW's decision! I cannot believe it has lasted this long!!
Er.... given how tired I am I could be mis-remembering - but did I have Monique foretell Bart dieing? I remember saying the shores would swim with blood... but that I couldn't say whose... I generally try to leave prophecies as open as possible, that way they're still true if a writer changes their mind
If memory serves me, you had me standing among the bloody bodies, laying about...foretelling a bloody battle....and in my usual way I hinted also...in the event of my death, what needed to be done.....anyways, who needs BB to continue.....advance a few years into the future, and anything is possible.....hmmmm?
Seems to be favorable for continuing......if the word be given by Captain Hawke?
WOW! That is some response to this thread. I'm overwhelmed. Sorry I haven't posted the last few days; have had some things to deal with here that are taking a lot of time. I am considering some ideas to continue the thread and ask you bear with me until this weekend. I will post here some of the ideas and see what you think. And what other suggestions you might have. And I'll post a reply over at the Hawke's thread itself in the next day or so. (Right now, I am medicated to the gills and not even sure this message is coherent. *L*)
Hope we can continue, look forward to continuing to write with all of you fantastically talented wordsmiths.
SW: Message was perfectly coherent - I just hope you're ok. I'm married to someone chronically ill who has a couple of potentially fatal illnesses, so when someone tells me their medicated to the gills I worry.
SW post is very coherent better than my first posts on Hawkes of The Sea when I :confuse: everyone! SW you get better we your friends will be waiting for you
I appreciate your patience and well wishes. Not a chronic thing, I hope *L*. A recent illness seems to have damaged some nerve endings and I'm having to deal with a bit of pain that nothing is helping, and seeing a specialist later this month to see what can be done. Ick.
ANYWAY....Please bear with me! I am planning out some suggestions for the hawke's thread and will post them here this weekend. I think it would be great to continue the thread, and have some ideas to share, and would like to hear yours as well.
Look forward to writing more with all of you here!
*G* Okay, here's an idea I had if you all are interested...not set in stone by any means, and would certainly like to hear some other suggestions as well, if anyone has them and we can figure out what to do from there.
I propose first we go get Amanda and Elizabeth from the cave where Antonio left them. Then the funeral and a celebration, as Black Bart has suggested.
then....*G*...I think the idea of going to England might have some merit. Several reasons Jeremiah would want to go, and maybe some of you might find reasons as well.
1) The proposed amnesty and becoming "privateers". Jeremiah might like to check this out to see what the British have to offer (Remember, Jeremiah and Elizabeth are English, minor nobility at that.) Letters of maquis, according to history, were sort of a "legitimized" piracy under the auspices of a government. These would allow the Hawkes and crew to continue being pirates, against French, Spanish and other ships, as well as themselves hunting down pirates. *G* Sort of the "to catch a thief", etc. They receive no financing from the government, but the booty they acquire from thses others ships, the slavers, and pirates would be their pay....If we go this route, might even be able to work in some "undercover" work as well, sort of an early spy sub plot.
2) Jeremiah would very much like to take Amanda back to England and help her get revenge on that asshole of a fiance, Richard. And take some himself for what Richard and Richard's father has done to the Hawkes, especially Jeremiah and Elizabeth.
3) Jeremiah and Elizabeth are both of the House of Hawke, a minor house of nobility. They would be interested in checking on things with family, if possible, maybe being reconciiled (or not) and ensuing conflicts there.
Now, just because we go to England, doesn't mean Hawkes & crew would necessarily sign up under the terms of the pardon...this we all could decide as things unfold. I think Black Bart has a great idea there that perhaps the offer is treachery. Or, maybe the offer is legitimate, but treachery could be involved. The Admiral who was Hawke's captian years before and betrayed him would be very interested in destroying the Hawkes and their crew, both to cover his own crimes and to avenge his son and/or further his son's plots against Amanda and her family.
It would also be an interesting culture clash between the pirates and English society...duels, affairs with the rich and famous, etc. *G*
The nationals from other countries, including some of our prisoners (the french clergy, the Spanish Princess, Captain de la Vega, etc.) would be able to go with us and be able to go home from there OR join with us.
(Captain de la Vega...might this be a chance for you to feel you could legitimately join with the Hawkes? After due consideration, of course, if we become "privateers" and especially chase after slavers, etc? And Sister Therese, hmmm, this might give you an opportunity to practice your missionary skills as well, with people on the island and among the crew? Just some thoughts.)
And, yes, this would open the way for new characters to join us!
Could be some subtle political goings on, as well as outright conflicts, etc.
Let me know what you think. I would very much like the idea of the hawkes thread continuing.
I really enjoy everyone's writing here and would enjoy writing with all of you some more.
Thought it would be over but glad to see that it is continuing. Would you all have room for another female character? Not sure where I could fit in, or when, but I would really like to be a apart of this if possible.
Heck yes, we can always use new characters. Would be very happy for you to "come aboard" Tell you what, we are about to change directions for the thread with the ending of the recent subplot of the Magician, et al. I think we will probably be making that sort of consensual decision in the next day or so.
Suggestion: think about whether you would want to be a member of the crew or prisoner or maybe someone we meet in England (if it goes that way.) Or "other" if we decide to go another direction with the thread. And keep looking here for notes on the thread.
And watch the thread for indicators, too, of how the story is going and where would be a good point to jump in.
SW it sounds very interesting to me.It would also be of Great interest to find out what The Black Raven is hidding and why she had to hide in the first place!
SW, these are all very intriguing possibilities. I'm sure that Sister Therese might be able to fit in someplace. I was thinking that her conversation with Jeremiah in the chapel might lead her to see the man and his crew in a whole new light, and perhaps even to question some of her long-held beliefs. I have a feeling that she wouldn't object to joining up with the Hawkes.
Right at this point, Monique is completely tied into De La Vega - Whatever he wants, she will pretty much do. If he decides to leave her, of course, her loyalties would be back to the Hawkes - but right now she truly believes she is soul-bound.
