OOC: Hentai Space Opera

Who do you want to chat with among the friendlies? What's on your mind?

Hmmm, I'll go first with the Pimmons, I want to see how they "interact" with humans.

Anyway, what's the standard currency used among the 3 allied races?

Also, can I suggest at least a neutral alien race once we enter the conflict?

JKT, you have an idea by now about Dash's history. Would the parasite on Christina's body be something Dash would have seen before, or would he have run into the race of aliens she fell in with (probably not the specific crew, but the race in general)?

Jezebel, Do you have a problem with my character knowing something about it? I'd like to iron this out before our characters meet potentially. Dash has been running all over the galaxy for a while so there's no telling who he might have run into. If there's something you feel I should know if it's determined Dash recognizes it, feel free to PM me about it.

The organism is from the invading aliens, so unless he knows who they are I doubt he'll know what the thing is.

It's a bio-engineer lifeform though, more an organic tool than a creature in its own right, and isn't sentient in any way. Whenever Tina becomes scared, angry or aroused it begins to pump chemicals into her body which increase her strength, endurance and stamina for a short period of time. Once she calms down the chemicals stop, leaving her feeling drained and exhausted.

Fleet Intelligence have done examinations of the creature, but since it's partially fused with her spine and nervous system there's no way to safely remove it without at least crippling Tina, and possibly killing her in the process. Since the organism has shown no signs of hostile intent and appears docile when not provoked, and a benefit to Tina when it is, Fleet Intelligence have officially released her under her own recognizance for the time being.

Unofficially they've placed her on a black ops assert list, just in case they need someone with her special abilities for something off the books.

Right now though Tina's just desperate to find herself a source of income, preferably one which will let her keep her clothes on while working. She's had more than enough sex slavery over the last few years and would rather just settle down to a quiet pace of life than become yet another stripper whore in one of the station's shadier clubs or bars.

Okay, fair enough, Jezebel.

Given what you've said, I think it's probably out beyond what Dash has seen or experienced. It does seem like an interesting wrinkle and it is intriguing to have someone in the story that has already ran into the impending threat.

As for her potential job, there's plenty of money to be made in shipping. :D

Battlestation Takemikazuchi Information

This all is posted throughout the thread but with new writers I felt that I needed to make sure all questions are answered.

As a simple guideline every room is 10x10x10 space. We'll call it starship space to give perspective. I'm not overly technical, but when I describe areas I want people to know what I'm talking about.

With the station being such a massive size each character will have their own two level living area. I'm all about people being creative. That said a standard living quarters pod begins with a heavy duty blast door, a small foyer and another blast door leading to hallway.

On level one there is a 3 starship space hall leading to an intersection. On the right there is a large general storage area (20x20x10), and to the left there is a workshop/lab/other depending on writer's preference. Want a yoga studio, cool, want a blacksmith shop out of 1600 century Japan possible, want a firing range....etc. You get the idea. At the center there is a large turbo lift, stairs, a half bathroom and a mechanical room with work space.

One level two there is a living room, dinning room, kitchen, and general purpose room you can customize. On the other side of hall there are two bedrooms, one full bath, and a storage area.

Not bad accommodations for everyone in the fleet. Please let me know about customization, roommates, and other ideas your having. Want to be the local bartender who lives above the bar? Now if you want barrack life or have ideas for sharing a space please let me know. Maybe you have a living space in your work area or want to remain on your ship.

There are a lot of possibilities for this thread. Let's make a galaxy and roleplay in it.

The necessary crew of the battle station numbers 500,000 with close to that many civilians on the station. Many will come and go when they can since this is a military operation, but there will be more then a few for players to write up.

Yes in the Empire there is one uniting government, a parliament, and an Emperor. Several of you have posted nations of origin and that's perfect, but those would be Providences.

Yes there is a universal translator that everyone uses to communicate with each other, and by now the alien allies. So worry not about talking with others.

Paper money is a novelty at this point and the Empire of Earth issues it's own credits, so that's what you'll all be paid in while serving. Paying with funds is as simple as swiping a data pad (probably the same one that holds your translator and personnel communicator)

The 3rd Amalgamated Church of The Empire

The 3rd Amalgamated Church of The Empire is the third and finally the "correct" attempt to unite all human religions. The first was simply a united effort of faiths, but as time went on there was a meddling of faiths until all appeared to be practicing one faith. The 2nd church was a reorganization of the faith putting in a hierarchy and rules in place and resulted in an internal conflict that lead to civil war. The 3rd church was reorganized under the royal court with the Emperor as head of the new church. An outside observer would call it Catholicism with influences of Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam all can be found along with the dressings of science fiction religion. There are holy orders including military ones.

Now that civilians are allowed to live in Section 17 they've taken on refurbishing an alien "cathedral," and the surrounding area.

Empire Gold Bars

In a world of digital credits being transferred if you want hard currency you mean Empire Gold. A solid gold bar with a special sealant so it can't be tampered with an Empire seal it's the real deal, and for those who don't trust banks this is what they use. It's cold hard cash...

Empire Trade Silver

If you do business with anyone in the empire or the government and you're not a citizen you receive silver. Packaged like the gold bars above, but smaller in size this is hard currency throughout the galaxy. The Empire and others within it have been paying bounties for aliens and their ships in silver as of late. All traders in the market place will take silver though few will turn down gold.

Letter of Marque

In the days of fighting sail, a letter of marque and reprisal was a government license authorizing a person (known as a privateer) to attack and capture enemy vessels and bring them before admiralty courts for condemnation and sale......Well they're back!

While governors around the empire issued these documents they were few and far between. Many times one needed a royal connection or a vast sum of money to put down for the license. Now with the impressive alien fleet pushing the allied frontiers they're being issued more readily. Merchant captains all over the Empire are outfitting their ships to raid and fight alien territory, and for the first time friendly aliens and human renegades can apply. The Empire needs every ship!

The ship is divided into 25 sections each with Access Lift, Living Quarters,
Laboratories, Workshops, General Storage, Alien Containment, Hangars, Scanner Systems, Missile Defenses, Laser Defenses, Plasma Defenses, and Shields Defenses.

There will also be a number of civilian areas and common areas between military sections. There are also unused areas, and some that still need exploration. The ship was refitted in a rush.

All current players will be in section 17 with more details to follow. Any questions or things you'd like to add let me know.

At this stage in the Empire of Earth there are no STD's so sex is fun and pregnancy can easily be prevented, so one is free to enjoy all the lustful sex they want.

We will flesh this out more, but currently there are clones, synthetic humans, and robots in setting.

Any questions please ask.

They're a race known for enjoying a good party, and while they don't create hybrids they're always happy to try something new.

Yes, and they're listed in my latest update post. Want to know anything else please ask.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on a neutral party...especially why they're staying out of the conflict.

Probably not much beyond sailor's folklore about the parasite. After all these guys are well beyond the frontier of the Empire and even further past the known allied space.

Unhappy with her comfortable life Kazi chose to sign up for the Rogue Trader programme, an exercise undertaken by the Cho government to improve their trade relations with other races by sending representatives out into space to hunt down business opportunities and investment ventures for them to become involved with.

Signing up for the mandatory two years in the Civilian Militia, Kazi served without distinction, showing poor performance on the battlefield when called to action. However her ability to negotiate terms of surrender proved to be outstanding, in one instance even managing to organise the purchase of an opponents weapons and equipment from them after her garrison had been defeated in battle. After delivery of the arms her comrades managed to quickly overwhelm the now helpless opponents.

Having spent the last few years travelling the stars Kazi has made a number of official and unoffcial friends across numerous races, before finally finding herself on board the Takemikazuchi, ready to seek out new races and new civilisations, and exploit them.

New Race: The Cho

Background:
Once a warrior race the Cho were breed to serve the ancient Gluton Empire, but when the Empire began to fall to its own internal corruption the slave warriors were released by the government to wipe out its own people. Forced to follow the command due to imperatives built into their cloned tissue at a genetic level, the Cho reluctantly hunted down every Cho they encounter, mercilessly slaughtering their creators across the Empire.

With their job finally completed, and the remaining Gluton driven into unknown space, the Cho settled down to reconstruct what was left of the civilisation they'd destroyed. Taking the Gluton's technologies as their own, but unable to fully understand the methods of their creation, the Cho ventured out into the stars, forming meaningful bonds with their neighbouring races, despite the fear those neighbours held for the 'vicious butchers' who had murdered their predecessors.

Having established themselves in the galactic geo-political landscape the Cho are currently seeking to expand their interests beyond their borders through peaceful trade and cooperation with other races.
Appearance:
The average Cho stands at seven foot tall, but their bodies tend to be willowy and thin compared to humans, although secondary sexual characteristics, particularly in females, tend to be overdeveloped in comparison to their overall build.

Cho skintones range from grey to mottled green and even browns, although most of their kind tend toweards mutted tones which allow them to blend into their surroundings more easily. Very rare red and bright green have been born in recent years but these are considered rare exceptions rather than a trending mutation. Skin tones tend to darken with age, and elderly Cho have been known to appear almost black of skin in later years.

Cho bones tend to continue to develop as they age, giving older Cho a more rough-hewn look to their features.

With a shorter childhood than humans, most Cho reach sexual maturity by the age of 6-8 at which point they are considered to be legal adults. However due to the unstable nature of their cloned origins most Cho do not live to see their fiftieth birthday.

Almost all Cho have blue eyes, ranging from deep, almost black navy tones to bright dazzling ice-white. While some Cho have been known to be born with purple eyes these tend to fade over time into more regular blue, as such purple eyes tend to be seen as a sign of youth and innocence among Cho, in a similar way as blonde hair is viewed among humans.

With the Cho do possess sexual organs almost every member of the race are born sterile, as part of their bio-engineered design, and so the race rely on cloning in order to propagate their numbers. Usually this takes place once per generation, with a new 'batch' of Cho being born once population levels begin to fall, but in times of great need emergency batches can be hatched to make up for catastrophic losses in the population, such as during wartime or after environmental disasters.

Given their warrior past most Cho tend to dress in a manner most galactic civilisations would class as barbaric, with their bodies barely covered with small metal plates and metalling netting adn carrying 'ceremonial' weaponry as part of their everyday attire. WHile these outfits at first seem to offer very little in the way of physical protection the metal plates house advanced force field generators providing the Cho with a level of protection equal to most known forms of heavy battle armour.

They almost invariably wear fully enclosed helmets when out in public, even though they breath the same Oxygen/Nitrogen atmosphere as most other races, and this can lead to distrust when dealing with new races who tend to think the Cho are trying to hide something from them.
Government:
The Cho now occupy the core worlds of the previous Gluton Empire, with each planet acting under its own recognisance in day-to-day operations while reporting to a central council for matters concerning the Hegemony as a whole.

Each planet tends to operate under its own legal, cultural and religious ideologies with colonies varying from strict authoritarian work states to comfortable libertarian research camps. Movement of individuals between planets in monitored for security and taxation purposes, but is free within Cho borders. Individuals wishing to travel beyond the borders are subject to a mandatory two years of service to the Civilian Militia, a branch of the military similar to local law enforcement.

All matters pertaining to security of Cho Space, including internal policing an law enforcement, fall under the purview or the Cho military, and officially all law enforcement officers are members of the military. Unofficially most settlements recruit a local 'sheriff' to oversee minor disputes and legal infractions rather than going to the trouble of informing the central military command and while this is technically an illegal situation the practice has been in established operation long enough to now be considered a traditional office.
Military Involvement:
The Cho have a well-established, highly trained and physically superior military force at their disposal, but refuse to engage themselves with any military action not within their own established borders, for fear their actions may be seen as invasion by other galactic powers.

As their area of space is on the far side of the human sectors from the advancing alien menace the Cho have time to make preparations while the enemy are slowed by engagements with their neighbours, but they are fullt aware of the consequences should the human fall too soon. In order to prevent this from happening unofficial and humanitarian aid ash begun to be provided to the humans, with several Cho already relocating to the Takemikazuchi to aid with its defence.
Technology:
The Cho have access to a number of highly advanced spaceships and ground-based weapon platform and vehicles, but as these were all 'inherited' from the Gluton following the unfortunate deaths of their Masters the Cho have little knowledge of their maintenance and methods of construction.

Since their race propagate by cloning the Cho have a very deep understanding of bioengineering, genetic manipulation and cellular biochemistry. Their reliance on chemical supplements for survival has also gifted them with a deep understanding of chemical production, manipulation and modification, including the production of a number of recreational substances which have yet to be classed as illegal within the Empire.

Relying on shield technology for personal defence, the CHo lack in-depth material sciences and are currently in need of assistance to develop starship grade hulls and armour plating, however their knowledge of shielding systems on scales raging from personal defence to planetary fortifications is unsurpassed.
Notable Traits:
Sixth Sense
The Cho have very poor eyesight and sense of smell compared with humans, but make up for this with a sixth 'psychic' sense which allows them to detect the electromagnetic signatures of those around them. Their own signatures are measurably weaker than other races and in order to tone down the 'screaming' signals when dealing with aliens most Cho wear dampening helmets to lessen the noise.

Females tend to be more sensitive than males when it comes to detecting variations in electromagnetic fields, making them more valuable as scouts, spies, negotiators and diplomats as their ability to read alien emotions more easily often makes contact with other races more expedient.

Some Cho expecting never to return to their homeworlds undergo surgery to reduce the sensitivity of their electromagnetic detection, making life with aliens more tolerable, but also making dealing with their own people more difficult.
Engineered Vitality
Originally bio-engineered as weapons, the Cho have far greater recuperative capacity than most other races and are able to recover from injury and illness fast even without extensive medical aid.

This has lead to a lack of medical research among the Cho however, and when wounds which cannot be recovered from naturally are received there is often little help available to the individual.

In extreme cases limbs and vital organs are often simply replaced with force-grown cloned replacements, rather than treatment of injury or infection being attempted.
Chemical Dependency
As part of their engineering the Cho were created with a genetic dependency on stimulant chemicals which serve to provide a balance in their biochemistry. While the Cho have the means to produce these chemicals in vast quantities within their Hegemony individuals travelling beyond their borders often find themselve reliant on shipments from home to keep themselves stable.

If adequate supplies are not ingested regularly a Cho may find themselves feeling drowsy and lightheaded, suffering from short-term memory loss and confusion, before finally falling itno a hibernation coma until more of the drug can be provided to them. If left untreated the Cho will simply die as their systems shut down.

The Cho seems to be OP for the Chryssalid race. We need to call on the Tyranids! Everyone get to the choppa!

I got a question: What about beaches, public pools, etc.? How would they be handled?

Well sir I'm glad you asked. This as you know was an alien station and all the buildings etc in every section were built by them. The Fleet and private interests have built on to, renovated, and redesigned them, but they're all there.

That said the aliens did have open spaces including large multi acre gardens, open air market areas (many are being used), and other open spaces. They might have been intended for different uses, but creative minds can convert them. There are also unexplored passages, lost alien temples, graveyards and other sites yet to be found.

So let me know if you have anything specific in mind. This is everyone's playground.

I was thinking on the possibility of nude/clothing optional beaches or swimming areas. Not talking about places to have orgies, etc.

Hmmm, that's an interesting idea for water recirculation. I'm assuming the station rotates to simulate gravity. This would mean that the center of the station would behave like the top of a water tower. The centripetal force would create the water pressure to feed the rest of the station. The trick is where to put the scrubbers in the line or where the sewage line dumps in post-treatment. That would make it kinda dangerous to swim in it because it's got a constant current from the rotation, maybe even waves. I'd have to run some fluid dynamics simulations to know for sure.

Sorry, engineers get excited by strange things. *bashful smile*

The system actually works by filtering the water through the 'soil' surrounding the chamber. All the 'hard particulates' are absorbed back into the biomass and then treated by a form of bio-engineered microbe to cleanse then ready for use as fertiliser in the hydroponic gardens.

Once clean the water gathers in the central redistribution hub where focussed gravitational forces cause it to vapourize slowly into a mist form, which is then drawn through the suction vent on the far wall. While in the hub the water flows gentle, generating a massaging effect for anyone swimming in it, as well as being heated to a couple of degrees above standard body temperature of most races on the station, making the water very pleasant to bathe in.

As far as health and safety goes, unless your body can fit through the ultrafine mesh used to filter the final mist back into the main water supply there's little danger of being sucked away, and the gravity generator in the core of the system projects a comfortable 0.4G field, allowing most humanoids to launch themselves from one side of the pool, be drawn into the centre before falling back into the water on the far side of the pool. Some teenaged station inhabitants call this 'Tripping The Rift' and consider it a rite of passage for young children once they can manage to launch themselves high enough out of the water for the effect to take hold.

One problem with the last paragraph. If there were some sort of gravity generator in the center, the water would form a sphere around it rather than a cylinder around the wall. A source of gravity would overcome the centripetal force method of simulated gravity. Also, can we not turn it up to 1.0g and build the station in a layer of spheres if we can generate a gravity field through technological means?

Sorry to sidetrack like this, but this is the stuff about sci-fi that I spend most of my time in thought about and keeps me from enjoying the story being told.

I'm not the best at following all the physical descriptions but I think if there's any kind of gravity generator, isn't that sort of ignoring physics anyway? A gravity generator could make story telling easier since most of us aren't used to thinking about life without gravity.

My first reaction was that swimming in the water supply sounds a little gross, but I guess if all water gets reused at some point there's no other water to swim in.

The generator strength is calibrated so that it barely overcomes the centrifugal force pinning the water to the walls of the chamber, and is also conical in nature so that the water vapour lifted from the surface is funnelled into the filter leading back into the main water supply. The only time is sucks the water in a great enough supply to form a shape in the air is when there's been a huge influx of water through the bio-engineered filter system, and then the water is quickly washed away back into the main system again.

As far as the actual field generator goes, we can't build anything like this. The station wasn't our to start with and honestly there's some systems we can just about to get working and have little understanding as to how exactly they function. Standing orders are not to mess around with anything unless a full team of engineers, scientists and emergency personnel are on hand to fix whatever damage you might cause in the process.

Why the race who originally created the station didn't just use the gravity generators to build a layer of spheres would be something you'll have to ask them, once they're done trying to kill us all and rape our bodies.

My first reaction was that swimming in the water supply sounds a little gross, but I guess if all water gets reused at some point there's no other water to swim in.
The water gets filtered and purified both before and after the people swim in it so its pretty much as hygienic as any other activity where you're rubbing your naked body against another being's.

Thanks for everyone's input....Including engineers. The station is a dyson sphere, so yes there is artificial gravity and impressive water recycling system that rivals most natural planets. There is a lot of power and space and that's why the Fleet have barely tapped it's full potential. The interesting things is while at least half of the invading aliens are technologically advanced a ship of this nature seems beyond their abilities. While there are large ships attacking the frontier nothing like this is being used. Seems though many large ships docked with this vessel and resupplied.

Technically Kazi is already serving the Hegemony as a government official so unless special circumstances occur she would be exempt from military service (during WWII my grandfather was exempt from conscription as he was a postal worker.) However her ship could still be called back for military service unless Kazi could justify keeping it for herself to support ongoing wartime operations.

  • 1 High quality suit of exotic unknown alien plate body armor
The Cho use personal shielding rather than plate armour so I take it this isn't Cho technology and instead another, unknown alien race's?

Hobby Assets:
  • 1 Large Passion bed with 8 soft body pillows.
By 'body pillows' I presume you mean actual pillows, rather than eight random strangers who agreed to let her lie on them for mutual pleasure? :3

Skill Assets
  • 3 casks of celebratory whiskey traditionally consumed after a deal is struck
...laced with a potent aphrodisiac to ensure repeat business. http://www.roleplayerguild.com/smilies/hehe.gif

Sorry. Like I said, my brain tries to work out these sorts of things first before worrying about dialog or characterization when I read sci-fi. I realize that this isn't what brought us together so I'll drop this tangent and just move forward.

Actually I was trying to find out how it worked. Why not just use massive lake/sea-sized reservoirs for agricultural/recrational purposes? Then they can go through the works, etc. for other uses.
