okay.....a short post

Well, what was intended as a short post became quite long. Hope you guys like it, if not, we could all ignore it or I could adjust it a little. Let me know.

Love...
Toku

Just one lil thing...

It's a lovely post, Toku. There's only one lil problem. Any attempt on the High Lady Alustriel's life at the palace is doomed to failure. She's an actual character of the Forgotten Realms of AD&D. One of the seven sisters, daughters of Mystra. Extremely powerful mages. Silverymoon is pretty much hers. Her town/city/village, what have you. She created it and the people housed there actually adore her. None would seek her harm and most would give their lives for her. She's the most caring and benevolant of the 7 sisters.

She has public dinners at her palace each night for the whole of Silverymoon, and is present during them. Her protection is the fact that she has literally hundreds of mages scattered about that read the diners thoughts, so even the merest thought of doing harm to her would set the alarm immediately. She also wears a pendant at these engagements, a sword pendant that confers a contiuous, automatic protection equal to the effect of the ironguard wizard spell. All metal passes freely through her body. She can't be held by shackles, and metal weapons do no damage to to her, passing freely through her body without the slightest scratch.

She is also at pains to keep an eye on events in Silverymoon and to deal with troubles before they erupt. Thus saying she would prolly already know about the guild of assassins, especially if they're stationed within Silverymoon.

I have absolutely no qualms about the assassins heading for the Inn. But going to the palace in hopes of murdering the High Lady? It's nothing but a suicide mission. A well written one, but one none-the-less..:)

While we're on the topic, I'll put in the two cents from the sage: assuming we are using the published material on Silverymoon in the Forgotten Realms, there is absolutely no chance that an assassin's guild larger than a rat exterminator's office could conceivably operate here. I hadn't planned to say anything, Toku, but since the scope of your posts seems to have broadened considerably, I feel I must. If you want to post events that only impact on your character, that's fine, but major, plot-shaking events like a full-fledged assassination attempt on a figure like Alustriel are really the place of Isolde or Imoen to implement. Besides which, as Imoen has pointed out, the events you described really go against the established realm of possibility in the world we've agreed to play in. If you have access to the RPG supplements detailing the Forgotten Realms, you'd probably make much more effective posts if you were to go back and re-read them. Especially anything about the seven sisters, Silverymoon, the Harpers, and the area around here.
I hope you don't take this post as pick-on-Toku day. I think you have shown tremendous enthusiasm for the thread, and I cannot help but respect that. Your writing shows a certain style, and your presence is a good thing. I'd just appreciate it if you could fine-tune your approach a bit.
Thanks!

Correction to above post

I let the previous post stand, because I screwed up, and I wanted to be sure everyone saw both the error and the retraction.

Toku, you did right. You probably went a bit farther than appropriate, but you had no way of knowing that assassins in Silverymoon were an oxymoron. I didn't notice at first where you posted your intent, and asked for suggestions. If I had, in time, I'd have warned you off. Still, you did exactly right by posting your plan in OOC. We simply didn't anticipate the full scope of your intent. So, my apologies again for the misunderstanding.

Don't be afraid...

My good friends,
There is not a problem here, you are my superiors ;),
My lack of knowledge of the Forgotten Realms session is a slight problem, so I'll adjust the post a little? Okay?
And Neale, no hard feelings at all!

Love...
Toku

Allrighty than!

Allright, changed my post.

No attemps to assasinate the Lady, only two groups heading towards the tavern, one from the front, the 20 thugs, and one from behind, the more, allthough still al little amateurish, skilled assasins, lead by Yondu.

Sorry for the problems I caused, I'll try to keep a hold on my enthousiasm.......

Love..
Toku

Toku, love, you didnt cause any problems at all! Your post was great. And I love your enthusiasm...that is what makes RPing with you a pleasure.

Wait...I'm confused...

Do we have to follow the AD&D rules on spell casting? I was thinking that we could use our imagination and not have daily casting restrictions and such. I have concocted my spell list, but my research did not include restrictions. My character as a Wu Jen already has certain taboo's that she cannot break without harming and weakening herself.

Let me know please!!! :D

I just did up my list for the heck of it - haven't actually played with the new rules yet. A sorcerer's ability with magic is innate, and they have a restricted knowledge of magical spells, but the ability to cast a lot of 'em. Helps me focus on what I can achieve with Jothal - his strengths and weaknesses, is all.

Basically we are using D&D rules as a guideline. We are following the world of the Forgotten Realms just to make things interesting but again these are guidelines.

We are using these simply so that no one goes off into a rampage and becomes god like which would take away from the story.

Definitely!
Anyone who wants a D&D character, per rules, to work from, is more than welcome to do so. I am, and I know a few others are. That does not mean that anyone else has to. For me, I just think better in the genre when I have a very definite idea of exactly what my character can and cannot do.

Anyone who is unwilling or inable to post exact character stats should not be intimidated by those of us who do. Basically, we're just engaging in a little geeky show-and-tell. ;)

Kewl Web Link!

http://www.wizards.com/electronic/article.asp?x=mt_welcome,3,en&c=mt&sb=dnd

the preceding is a link to the official D&D webpage. Specifically, it is a link to the part of that website where you can download - FREE - a veryveryvery cool character generator. Anyone who installs this will be able to use it to make whatever kind of character, at whatever level, they want. I've already used to make mine and Toku's. Anybody who wants me to make one for them, you have but to ask. Unfortunately, the files it creates for characters are in some whacked-out format that only that program can read, so I can only send you a file that it can read.

Don't worry about the weird appearing link above. I just tested it, and despite its appearance, it does take you straight to the site. Just click on the blue 'Here' to the left of where it says Download the Character Generator 1.2

Be warned, it is a 10 megabyte download, so it will take a WHILE to download over a normal modem. All of you lucky **&)(&%%$**'s who have DSL or cable, well, enjoy it, dammit!
;)

Thanks Neale! It is a very cool program!

I just wanted to let you all know that everyone at my house is sick, including me. I'm alone with my two lil one's Friday's and Saturday's and I have definitely taken a turn for the worse myself today, so please excuse my lack of posting lately.

Hopefully things will be better after the weekend...my son just missed an entire week of school and my daughter is a crying, clingy, 104 degrees feverish, mess. Please Toku and Ask For More, continue on and I'll jump back in when I have more time.

Thanks guys...
*hugs from afar*

Oh man...I hope that everyone gets well soon, girl...go and do what is important.

Everyone Read Please

Neal had a really good idea. Some of you are already doing it....lets make it so that the past of the chars we have played with come through as memories..and maybe actual people who interact with us throughout the game. It will make for some interesting side plots.

Billy (Kalann)

Sorry it has been so long since I posted anything guys but my life is kinda in shambles right now. My fiancee left me and my father had a heart attack and nearly died a few days ago. I will keep up my end of the thread now that I am back.

Sorry again,
Billy (the man behind the legendary Kalann Rathwind)

oh no! *hugs ya tight* I am so sorry to hear that....if you ever need to just talk let me know...my email is ready4looneybin@excite.com and if you want to AIM me than email me with your AIM I have a block on mine and have to put your name on my list.

From the Engineers

Do NOT jump the train just yet. It's going to get back under control. I just want to run a few things past you guys and gals. First off, I want to say how very much Isolde and myself appreciate all of you. You are all excellent roleplayers. The best I've had the pleasure of uhm.. playing (?) with. Yeah. I guess that's the correct way of phrasing it. ;)

Isolde wanted me to be sure to let all of you know that she had a post planned and enroute ready to spring on you guys in the Inn. She was really only waiting for the the last three in the Inn to answer before proceeding with it. Mainly because it would be stupid to go on with it without stationing the three for the upstairs area. Most assasins are not going to charge through a front door. Color me silly, but that's just the way I see it. The next post from Isolde will clear things up a bit, and she has some excellent plans in the work for this thread. Cross my heart and everything, I promise it'll be worth your time if you stick it out with us.

One other thing, concering the fighting so early after the transport over. That was not in the plans, it's wayyyyyy too early to assume that any of our characters are ready for such a complete and utter change in attitude and regards to bloodshed. The fight is not going to be easy. It shouldn't be easy. That is totally off the point. It should be hard for this group, regardless if their bodies and memories of the chars they represent are with them. They are still modern people trying to fit into a mideval world. The assasins are comfy in this world and thus, well.. you can figure it out I'm sure. Anyhoo. Just wanted to let all who were concerned know what's going on, and things will be moving along smoothly over the next lil bit. Isolde and I would like to offer our deepest apologies for the bit of a bumpy start.

Addendum:

One more itty bitty tenny tiny thing. *absolutely the sweetest of the sweet smiles*

If there is going to be any significant plot deviation or such in the main Portal thread. Please, PLEASE see fit to post it in this OOC: thread first and wait for a response prior to going ahead with it. Hokie doke? K!

Youse guys/gals are da best! *mmmmmWAH!* Lub ya!

Stupid ____- ______ email addys!

Big howdy again. :)

I'm having a small lil problem with my email. None of it is getting through. I thought I'd drop a quick note and let you guys know the change of addresses. Just in case you feel the urge to flame me and tell me what an absolute bitch I am. Lord knows I definitely want those to get through. *grins*

If you mailed me with something over the past couple of days, I more than likely didn't get it.

The functional email addy is now sweetescapade@hotmail.com

Feel free to mail me with any concerns, complaints, what have you.. I will respond to any and all.

Sorry... screw up

Just wondering if you needed my character to show up now or later on when everyone is all settled in on what you are doing.

My character:
Matthew Reilly
23
6'1"
Fit but not overly muscular, is classed as somewhat the nerdy type at school.

Character in the alternate world
Bail Dalias
Dark Cleric- serves Cyric
Powerful in all forms of dark clerical magic and is an evil, maniacal person. Wants nothing more than to destroy the Realms so that Cyric can mold it all in his image.
