(OOC) The Marvel Adventures: Ghosts of the Past

Eddie was in the lab, like you suggested, looking at the alien cells of the symbiote under a microscope, using various living cells to see if it reacts to any of them, though the alien DNA proves to be far to alien to mix with anything of this world. He uses all the samples he has at his desk, and has to go get the next batch, when he gets an idea, he uses a drop of his own blood, not really expecting it to work.

Now, he doesn’t know it yet, but the serum in the water has messed with him as well, altering his DNA somehow and allowing the symbiote to bond with his DNA and bridge the gap to absorbing the life forms of earth. He immediately goes about testing his blood and why it reacts to the symbiote, he gets so in to it that he doesn’t realize the robber coming to steal stuff. There a fight, at some point the robber shoots at him, the bullet shooting through the test tube containing the Symbiote and then hitting him in the shoulder, the robber grabs what he can and flees.

Nobody knows that he is infected, not even himself, and when he goes to sleep, it manifests, forcing him to change and going out on a rampage before returning to bed so he doesn’t find out.

And as for some of the struff he does, I was thinking that he could do the whole liquefy thing and latch on to people to control them and drain them of whatever super soldier serum is in them, growing stronger as he does, while the adaptations from other metahumans would come from Eddies own altered DNA rather than the symbiote

Atlus, Kitten, can you refer this thread to some of your female friends?

i'll see what i can do

Punisher? Fantastic Four? Daredevil? You could play Harry Oborn as a metahuman. You can also take any char from X-Men and say they got their powers from the serum in the water. Just go to Marvel.Com and go through the bios -- they have ones for every character ever.

Another idea you could use for Ghost Rider is to say Johnny Blaze somehow got cursed from an object which gave him his powers.

Will you be going with Ultimate or traditional Green Goblin? If you go Ultimate I can use regular for Harry's concept.

That's an awesome idea, Kitten. So, if Eddie's copying power comes from his own altered DNA and not the symbiote, if he ever seperated himself from it, he'd be like Rogue or something, right?

And Atlus, I'll be using Ultimate Goblin, but not exactly the same -- in the comic, at first, Osborn had to inject himself with the Oz Compound to transform. In this game, it works a little different. See, the reason I had Banner and Osborn in the same explosion is so their powers are similar. They both turn into big green monsters when stressed. Banner got the blunt of the explosion, so he transformed right away. Once the Hulk escaped, he returned to normal form, but retained all his memories. He is now in Africa trying to master his transformation, which eventually he will be able to do at will. Though, when in Hulk form, he is susceptible to his insticts and his emotions are harder to control. Osborn, on the other hand, didn't transform at first, but he will once his stress level reaches critical mass. At first, he won't remember anything from his transformations -- he'll black out when he transforms into a huge green goblin monster who flies and shoots fireballs. Eventually, he'll realize that HE is the Green Goblin, and that the monster has been acting on his own secretly violent desires. After this realization, all the memories of the savage Green Goblin flood into Osborn's mind, and the two personalities become one. After this fusion of minds, he can transform at will and has the same mind, regardless of what form he's in.

That's an awesome idea, Kitten. So, if Eddie's copying power comes from his own altered DNA and not the symbiote, if he ever seperated himself from it, he'd be like Rogue or something, right?

in effect it is somewhat similar, but the mechanics of it are diffrent, rogue , from what i understand, drains power and energy from a person, then uses that power and energy until it runs out. Eddie however doesnt 'drain' the powers, he doesnt even get a functioning copy in some cases, he takes say, a drop of blood, and he can sort of retrofit diffrent parts of that dna on to his own, so he would get a slightly scaled down version which he can use to compliment the other powers at his disposal. the more DNA he has of the subject, the stronger the ability will be, and when he uses the symbiote to assist him in doing this its more effective, with a lot of luck he could get a 50%-60% copy.

also, with him and the symbiote extracting any serum still present in the body of their victim, i was thinking it would feed the symbiote, if it were deprived of it for too long it would go in to a dormant state or posibly even die. but when it has taken alot, it gets strength boosts and what not

Ah, that's cool. So, if it takes the serum from their blood, could it cure someone of their mutation? Maybe at some point, Spider-Man takes a sample of the symbiote for this purpose, and then it somehow spawns into the Carnage symbiote, lol.

Oh, and check this out. It's Harry Osborn versus Norman Osborn in Ultimate Spider-Man 117. They both died in this issue. Harry is the orange goblin, Norman is the green.

Maybe if that's the case with the symbiote, Spider-Man initially take the sample to stop the Lizard and return him to his human form. Then, when Spider-Man reaches the "I am Spider-Man No More" phase, he can use the sample on himself, but instead of curing his powers, it just copies them. Then, the symbiote sample fusing Spidey's powers and the Lizard's, and becomes Carnage or somethiing.

If I play Peter, and you (Atlus) play Harry, maybe we can get two girls to play Mary Jane and Gwen or something. They could all be a group of friends. As for Eddie, well Kitten, would you want him to be a permanent villain? If so, did you also want to play a hero?

I may have Flash Thompson become Carnage if we go with that idea. If Venom does ever become good, he could help the heroes stop Carnage or something, or they could form a temporary alliance. My mind is swarming with ideas.

Here's my Harry origin.

After years of mediocrity Harry finally began to change. He grew smarter, faster, even stronger. Super-strong. Harry even asked his father Norman for a research wing at the company. Harry set about building the toys he'd always dreamed of. Flying skate boards, gag pumpkins that explode into chunky bits of goo. For the first time in his life Harry felt that he was doing something worthwhile. When his father took notice of his research he was thrilled. Until his father confiscated every bit of it for military applications. Alone and bitter, Harry began to wonder exactly how long it would be before the company was his....

I'm trying to work the regular Marvel Goblin into this continuity (which is more or less the Ultimate Universe, yes?). Eventually he'll become either the new Green Goblin or Hob Goblin, depending on how it works out. I'm also unsure on whether or not I have a villain or a hero here. He may be somewhere in the middle. Or maybe he'll go straight villain. Hard to say as of now. Not sure on the Gwen Stacy thing either. I figured I'd just see where things went. So what do you think?

Sounds cool. As for the universe, it's more of a fusion between the two with some of my own ideas implanted. I call it the Jeffverse, lol. I think it would be cool if Harry was a hero so that Spidey had somebody to fight crime with, but that's just my opinion. And you could always change his costume up a bit -- like, if he's a hero, you could like call him the Silver Goblin or instead of Green Goblin, Green Dragon or something. Hmmm... Actually, maybe I'll make Norman's hulk-form go by the name Green Dragon, then Harry can be Green Goblin. Whatcha think?

I'll leave whether or not he becomes a hero to the story. As far as names go, it's kind of up to you. JJ is the one who usually names these guys so whatever he says sticks. And since you'll be in control of JJ....

Well, that's in the movie. They can choose their own names in this game. I'll go with Green Dragon for Osborn, and I'll advance his fireball ability to include fire blasts. Name your char whatever you want. How does he get his powers?

The increased intelligence, speed, and strength come from drinking the water. Harry was unaware he even had powers until the day his research was taken away. In his frustration he slammed his fist into his own desk, splitting it in two.

Hmm. What do you guys think -- should we change the game to include mutants and remove the serum in the water deal? Would that attract more attention to the game? I may change the name too to see what happens. I've bumped this thread several times, and so far, no females have shown interest -- just us three guys. What do you think?

if you'll have me (and i hope you will, as i love comics, especially marvel comics lol)

Also if you have me i'd like to play 3 characters.... (Bios will be below)

Hank McCoy // Beast (Not a mutant...he's a mutate cos of the water/serum)
Janet Van Dyne // Wasp (You said you needed girls)
Rhino (This is because i want to do a small villian bit like you....a come and then go type of thing)

HANK McCOY
Hank McCoy was an orphan who lived on the streets and in sewers. He loved science though and spent his time stealing science books from shops and reading them...he also liked animals. He mutated after being bitten by a stray cat.

JANET VAN DYNE
The daughter of a small time billionaire, Janet, only ever drank bottled water, but her life changed when she a servent forgot to chlorinate the swimming water...which she went swimming in. The next week was painful, as she discovered the ability to shrink in size, and shoot small solar blasts from her hands...oh, and she had developed a pair of wasp like wings.

RHINO
Not much history would have to go into this, simply becuas i would like him to be a walk on-one off villian.

And i like it as it is, its a nice twist...girlwise, i have no idea what would attract them.

Sure, you can play, but I meant we also need female players. Sorry, but the idea of a sex thread with nothing but male players is... well, kind of gay, lol. I'm probably going to redo this thread and nix the serum in the water idea to see if female players will respond to a more standard version of the Jeffverse, which will be closer to Ultimate Marvel.

I'm also going to re-instill Mutants, trading in Hulk for Wolverine and Iceman. I'll also take Professor X and Magneto as occasional characters. I'm thinking the game can, at first, be divided into two groups -- the X-Men and the Ultimates. The X-Men, led by Charles Xavier, are in pursuit of Wolverine, who recently escaped from a secret goverment agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Wolverine -- classified as GRS-010-0024X, or Weapon X for short -- was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most recent attempt to create the perfect soldier, a quest that dates back to Captain America in WWII.

After Wolverine's escape, General Nick Fury goes to Xavier to and requests the aide of the X-Men, because most of his men are busy fighting the recent upsurge of metahumans. So, Fury leaves Tony Stark in charge of the Ultimates (a group of metahumans assembled to fight the supervillains popping up), and goes to assist the X-Men in their pursuit of Wolverine. Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants want Wolverine for their own reasons, however, and try to sabotage the X-Men's efforts.

So, we can have two stories going on at first -- the X-Men versus The Brotherhood of Mutants and Wolverine, and the heroes of New York City and the surrounding areas coming together to fight crime as the Ultimates. Eventually, Wolverine will end up in the city, leading the two groups to form one huge team of superheroes. However, Magneto and Green Dragon will join forces to form the ultimate villain group.

Ok, this idea i also like, in which case i request to be Hank McCoy aka beast.

That would be interesting becuase he is actually a member of both the X-men and the Ultimates, and he could appear to have slightly divided loyalties.

Well, the idea is to eventually have them form a single team. Maybe the two teams will be X-Men and Avengers, and they adopt the name Ultimates for the new united group. Prior to this, Xavier has no school, but rather, invites young mutants to his mansion to teach them how to control their powers. After the formation of the Ultimates, they construct the Triskelion, a massive compound built by S.H.I.E.L.D. on an artificial island in the Upper New York Bay. It contains docking facilities for ships up to the size of aircraft carriers, airstrips, and several buildings, primarily a large three-winged tower. It houses a hospital facility, laboratories, barracks for S.H.I.E.L.D. troops, at least one squadron of fighter jets, and specialized holding facilities for superhuman prisoners. Xavier builds the Xavier Institute of Advanced Studies (referring to the study of learning one's advanced abilities) on the island, and invites all the mutants living in his mansion to the school. With government funding through S.H.I.E.L.D., Xavier is able to hire professors and have a maximum of 800 students enrolled at a time, however, the student body usually does not exceed 400. S.T.R.I.K.E., the European version of S.H.I.E.L.D., will follow suit and create a similar school.

I like the new direction. In light of the change I think I would like to play Gambit. The Goblin only works in a spidey centric story.
