Opposites turned lovers (closed)

Quinn looked at Anabeth and nods. He seen the blush creep across and smiled at her. "What were you thinking about that made you blush Anabeth?" he asked her wondering what she was thinking about.

He wondered if she was thinking about him and if so whst about him. Quinn just sat there and waited for her answer quietly. He was curious about what a pure woman like her could be thinking about.

Anabeth blushed deeper as Quinn asked her what she was thinking about and she turned her head away slightly to gather herself and she looked back over at him and smiled "Nothing Quinn... I was just wondering what it will be like once you ask for my hand..." She said telling a half truth.

She made Annabelle move faster and she smiled back at him spotting the inn in her eyesight" I see the inn up ahead lets go I'm starving" she giggled

Quinn could tell that she was only giving him half of the truth but didn't mind because the rest was still about him and no one else. He also didn't want to press on any farther because he didn't want to make Anabeth mad at him making the rest of the trip miserable for himself.

He hurried to the inn with Anabeth. After they hitch the horses he looks at her and says "after you my lady."

Anabeth smiled and nodded climbing off of Icy patting her head and Nightmare before the two of them headed inside of the inn. It looked like a place women didn't belong gruff males and drinking but Anabeth was brave and ignored that and headed for a table.

"Ana" the bar keeps wife said with a smile "On another quest ? You ought to be careful with these men and questing alone ...especially since you aren't Wed" the older woman said with concern.

"I'm with a warrior Elise... This is Quinn,my suitor" she blushed

The woman grinned saying " Ahh so someone had determined to claim lovely Anna again?.. Just wish my son weren't so stupid and hadn't missed his chance."

Anabeth blushed recalling how upset she had been catching Flannigan with a wench behind the bar but she was glad she had because he wasn't in love with her and she didn't want a loveless joining.

The bar owners wife immediately brought Annabeth her usual and she nodded for her to bring Quinn the same.

Quinn couldn’t focus on what Anabeth was saying he was too busy focused on the room. In places like this he always got into fights over one thing or another. When they sat down he took off his sword and leaned it against the table. The reason he took off his sword was the fact he had more than one person try to take it out of sheath and use it against him at least this way he could see it this time rather than sneak up on him. He began to focus on Anabeth again and caught the last part of the bar keeper’s son had tried to wed Anabeth.

“Who is this old suitor that you guys were talking about?” Quinn asked still keeping an eye on the place. He knew he had to watch the place because of Anabeth. Someone would probably end up trying to force Anabeth to either set with them or try to make a move on her. He knew that she could take care of herself but he also knew it would look bad if he didn’t do something

Anabeth saw lots of men staring their way but didn't think anything of it as part of her innocence but Quinn must have because his body language showed he was on the defensive and ready to protect them if needed.

She knew that the place was a bit seedy but no one had tried anything so far and if Elise smelled trouble she'd usually get a message to her to leave and sent her off with extra food and water. She looked up at Quinn briefly glancing seeing Flannigan in the corner drinking and she said "It's nothing Quinn it was quite some time ago...Flannigan is Elise and Jameson's son I was to wed but it didn't work out....but Elise and My mother are still close although her husband and my father aren't at the best of terms.." she stopped talking as Elise brought the food over along with a few extra sacks with bread , vegetables and dry meat.

"It's all the extra I could find..It's not much but it's something...We've been busy lately lots of people traveling from the mountain villages to escape bandits...it's terrible "

Anabeth smiled nodding "Its fine Elise thank you " she said and Elise said "You guys hurry with your dinner Flann is here and has gotten to the ale and I don't want him causing trouble with you .." she said looking toward Quinn.

Anabeth knew how Flannigan got when he was drunk..handsy and he still knew Anabeth was unclaimed so the first thing he would do is try to get her to forgive him and ask for her hand drunkenly saying that he didn't want to disappoint his Father anymore. Anabeth always ignored him and left but she did feel bad for him.

Quinn looks up at the woman and says to her “We will be fine if your boy tries anything I’ll scare him just enough to show women who he isn’t the suitor to respect.”

He grabs Anabeth’s hand to let the other men including Flannigan. He didn’t know if the tactic would work but in his clan you leave a woman alone when she is with a potential suitor and you don’t back down from an fight no matter what. He also wanted to give the horses a break because of how hard they had pushed them yesterday. “I want to take longer breaks today because of how hard we pushed them yesterday… don’t you think that would be a good idea?” he asks Anabeth.

He also wanted to take a break from riding himself because of his armor tends to rub in places that ends up becoming raw and eventually bleeds. He also just wanted to spend some time with his new wife to be before they had to do battle with the bandits and become too sore to do anything really even move their arms to hold each other’s hands. He wanted time to figure out how he was going to impress her father so that he will let him marry her.

Anabeth nodded. "I suppose we should and I'm sure Icy and Nightmare will appreciate the extra rest." She said.. She smiled as he grabbed her hand looking at her as if to tell her they were ok and he'd protect her. She also felt most of the eyes leave her including Flannigan who looked a bit upset and yelled for another round of ale.

She looked over at his heavy armor and said " Is that comfortable Quinn? It's a bit old and well made but it must get heavy at times and I know it must tire Nightmare as well with the extra weight... I can have some more light and strong armor made for you like my brothers... I know mine is different but it works just as well.

Quinn said to Anabeth when she asked him about his armor “I’m fine and I’ve had this armor sometime before I had gotten Nightmare so I wore it every time I rode him so he would be used to the weight. I know you are just looking out for me but I couldn’t part with the armor because I had to earn it from the clan that raised me.” He didn’t want to get rid of the armor because he had to pass tests before his clan would allow him to wear armor and a blade of any kind.

He sat there rubbing his thumb over the back of her hand before saying “Thank you for the thought Anabeth I really appreciate it but any other armor would feel out of place on me.”

Anabeth smiled and nodded understanding. She had attachment to the armor she wore as well some of her mothers gold and her fathers battle sword was melted into her armor as well as her gear because it reminded her during battle to fight till she won because she had a family to return to.

She was interested in learning about his clan if she was going to be his " Do you have family ?"

Quinn looked at Anabeth and said “not in the traditional sense my real parents died during a bandit raid when I was young and a Viking clan just happened to be passing by when they decided to go into the village and the clan investigated the village to find any survivors. The clan chief was about to leave my parents’ house when I grabbed a sword off of the ground and took a swing at him thinking he was one of the bandits that just attacked; needless to say I completely missed and instead of beating me he took me in and raised me like I was one of his children.”

He picked up Anabeth’s hand and gave it a kiss before finishing with “He taught me to fight mainly because he figured I would have a hard life seeing how I didn’t have any parents and more than likely my immediate family thought I was dead along with my parents.”

Anabeth nodded silently knowing that must have been hard for Quinn to lose his parents like that and she was instantly grateful to the Viking who saved him. She smiled as he kissed the back of her hand and she smiled at him saying " Well he did a good job raising you...I'm glad he's taught you what you know it must have been hard I can't imagine .."she said and rubbed his hand. She wanted to kiss him but she knew that would be inappropriate before he asked for her hand but perhaps if they did it in private it wouldn't be so bad .

She cleared her thoughts and sipped lightly on the ale enjoying her time with him."Is there anything you want to ask me?"

Quinn could see the look on her face of her wanting to kiss him. he looked over at her and asks Anabeth " you want to kiss me don't you?" in a whisper so no one but them could hear. He had more questions but he wanted to strech out the questions so they could enjoy the conversations. and really take them in. Plus talking in a place like this about personal things wasn't. a good idea to Quinn.

He kept a hold of her hand letting her run her thumb over it. He began to gently squeeze her fingers . He could hold her hand all day if they could do so.

Anabeth blushed and nodded as he asked her if she wanted to kiss him and she chuckled whispering "Yes I would and I assume you would like to kiss me too but I know we can't here" she said

She knew discussing their business aloud was never a good idea and she smiled when he squeezed her fingers gently to comfort her.

Quinn only gave her a smile and another kiss on her hand. He didn't want to ask her anymore personal things now because someone may end up going and telling her dad about them.

Quinn reached down the front of his armor to remove the necklace he wore that was given to him by his step father it was a shard of a blade that Quinn had trained with. He took it off and held the leather strap with the shard hanging on it out. "Here Anabeth I want you to have this." he said with a smile.

Anabeth smiled looking at shard he had turned into a necklace and she took it from him with a smile. She looked at him and said " Are you sure ? I know this must be important to you" she smiled softly

She held her had up and dug into the side of her boot grabbing a red scarf she wore for good luck and handed it for him....I want you to have this ... It was my grandfathers he passed in battle and I want you to keep it.

Qinn looks at Anabeth and says to her"yes I'm sure." He took the scarf from Anabeth and ties it around his wrist making sure his armor covers it. He gets up and walks behind her so he could place the necklace around her neck.

"This necklace is a shard from my first sword that I broke during training and I want it to serve as a signal to any other man that I am your suitor." He said as he placed the necklace around her neck and tied it.

Anabeth and chuckled saying " I think they get that you are Quinn all eyes have since turned from me. " she said holding his hand and sipping the Ale they had and eating some bread.

"Tell me more about yourself Quinn...I want to know all about my suitor.. Your favorite food...activities and your step family.."

Quinn looks over at her smiling and said “I mean after we leave Anabeth.” He continues eating as they set there holding each other’s hand not even caring at this point if someone will see and it get back to her father.

When he heard her ask about him and he says “My favorite food is venison and I like to go hunting whenever I can. I’ll tell you about my family a little later when we are at camp.”

Anabeth nodded curious about him and her eyes widened when he said he went hunting . "I've never been before you know...hunting..My father believed it was only for boys..men.. I always asked him to go but .. Will you show me? How to hunt? She asked whispering hoping he would.

She smiled knowing he was different but unsure if he would teach her something like that.

"Sure I will show you how to hunt but we will have to scout a bit first before we do so we won't get caught by the bandits. All the women in our clan can hunt but don't because they leave it for the men to do." Quinn says as he gives her a smile. "Can you use a bow?" He asks Anabeth.

Anabeth nodded and said " I can use a bow that's usually how I take down large groups of bandits" she said happy she would be his and learn the way of his clan and he would learn about her family.

She held his hand completely forgetting they were in public "Are you ready to go?"

"Yes Anabeth I am if you are." Quinn says with a smile on his face because Anabeth just grabbed his hand and it wasn't the other way round. He gets up and says to her "after you my lady."

He loved how eager she was to go hunting with him.

Anabeth smiled with a nod on her face. She walked ahead of him and out backroom the horses and smiled seeing the two of them basically cuddling. She laughed and said "Hey hey I hope you two were behaving .. And resting up she grinned pulling out an apple and feeding them both.

Quinn fallows Anabeth out and laughs when she asks if the horses behaved. He overs over to Icy and says "I don't think that they had a choice in the matter because I don't think that they are that flexible." He wait for her to finish feeding the horses so he could help Anabeth get on hers.
