no, i think that's the point: it's bloody hot over here, and by the time it IS cool again, no one from the west side will be able to cross the mountains.

Hmmm...Wild Waves would be fun...though i'd be nervouse to go there for a meeting of people...*shy when it comes to...er...swimwear.*

Couple problems I see with that one.

1. Last I checked entry for a one day pass is $25 (although I may be out of date)

2. The staff does not look kindly upon recreation of a Lit nature.

3. It is hard to differenciate between Lit members and normal people in such a spread out place as Wild Waves.

4. As much as I enjoy the concept of swimsuits my funky tan lines matched with the glorious blinding NW whiteness woulkd make me look like a true idiot. (arms and face a deep brown but everything else white as a bedsheet.)

What would be best for a ideal get-together spot would be someplace that will allow for easy recognition of members, will not suck if weather is not friendly, will be open when eveyone can attend, and hopefully not cost anything making it easier to plan. Offhand I can think of a few in both WA or OR. In WA there is Dash Point or Penrose state park (their both beaches with camping available), the Flaming Geyser state park (forest with camping if I remember correctly), West Hyblos wetlands/wildlife presearve (a well secluded park in Federal Way that although does not have camping available would work as a good meeting place except that it is a bitch to find).

As for OR, there is Silver Creek Falls (waterfalls and camping), Canon Beach (unfortunately we would have to be specific because it's a pretty big beach), The Oregon Dunes (not aware of if camping available but it is an interesting place). Unfortunately the list isn't quite as big for OR, but I've only lived here for 2 years and haven't had much time for sightseeing.

I have nothing against Kelso either, but unfortunately if the head count gets high enough one bathroom may not be enough, and although I applaud DD for the offer (if I had 10+ people I technically didn't know at my apartment I'd be edgy as hell) so to offer yourself open to a potential headache as that, it pretty much demands respect. But in the interest of everyone it might be a better idea to have this be a event away from your personal domiciles (or at least until you need to go back to them for recreational purposes that is .

Now being that we are currently planning on having it at a public place and potentially camping in said place, would it not make sense to have it where the worst fear is that of a wet sleeping bag or stinging nettles?

well if we have it closer to my place we can have the afterhours party here

kelso does have a few nice parks.. with covered areas.. and its not too far from mt st helens(hour or so, ape caves maybe?) there is also a couple of casinos(one has a lounge with a dj, small cover fee)
bowling would be cool..

i am not up for camping.. we havent said a damn word about it that was a different thread sorry

Now correct me if I'm wrong about this but I seem to remember hearing that there tend to be a number of poisonous animals that exist both in Eastern WA and OR. Now being that we are currently planning on having it at a public place and potentially camping in said place, would it not make sense to have it where the worst fear is that of a wet sleeping bag or stinging nettles?
