Hey DVS, I guess I cannot help you. See for many years I have been the only black in the room, and I have been ganged up on by white folks. I just kept fighting for myself.

I say don't take shit from no one. Document your protest. And do not let yourself be used. I hate people who fuck with other people for no good reason.

As for looking away when someone says the wrong thing, well I have found that you are damned if you do, and damned if you don't say something. I have never been allowed to look the other way. Your experience may be different.

I have never worked at a place where any employee can write up any little tiff he wants and make it into something it never was in the first place. It forces both sides almost "lawyer up" status because he filed a grevance (for lack of a better word).

From what I've last heard, he feels there is a possible physical confrontation arrising and that is the very last thing I would have ever thought would be said. Actual fighting with fists? Come on, now. Let's get real, here. Nothing was said. I think he just has a persecution complex, if he thinks I plan anything like that. And if he is planning anything like that, he's doing some serious jumping to conclusions.

Unfortunatly, the policy that's created for major sexual, racial and personal conflicts is being allowed to be used for his petty tiff, because the boss is catering to his rant. If she would be the impartial boss she should be, she would have told him to just let it go and go on with his life. But, because she has catered to his rants in the past, I guess he feels (and she seems to allow it) that he can make it seem worse than it ever, EVER was.

No, it's not racial...at least on my end. I don't look at people that way. And, it's sad if people jump to the race thing, when it just happens to be blacks against whites in a situation. I only said it could possibly be racial because I'm the only white in the situation, and it really is so small and petty that I can't figure out any reason why we are still talking about it. Now, his "so called" fears of a physical controntation? Paaa-LEassssse! I'm sorry...I don't swing that eway. I only get physical with women.

If I were you DVS, I would attempt to be the 'bigger' person and try to sort it out informally. It sounds as though it could be based on misunderstanding and if thats the case I would attempt to nip itin the bud before it becomes part of a formal procedure. If you have raised it with your line manager it could be useful to keep any documentation or a note of the outcome of the meeting, what was said etc.

I don't now what employment legislation is like in the US, but here if it ever went to a formal produre the first part of the process would be an inquiry, where evidence would be collected or examined. Ebonyfire offered good advice. If it is the same its important to keep records or a diary of anything that is said, times, dates and any witnesses.

I hope you both manage to resolve it informally.

More than likely it wasn't anytihing at all, and far from racial at that, but some people (on both sides of the color war) just need to vent off their own frustrations on somebody else and who better than someone of another color?

It's the same thing with gays and lesbians. There are people who are against them. Because they are different, is usually the only reason. Gay bashing is the term. It happens so often we actually have a term for it.

Education is necessary. A lot of the people like this don't know anybody "different" than themselves so they look for someone different to pick on. Somebody has maybe picked on them, so they in turn feel the need to go bully someone else. With each confrontation, it gets worse and worse until someone ends up getting hurt.

We need to think about why some people in our society are filled with such hate and channel that hatred off into a place where it can't bother anybody.

Their mothers should have known better than to bring up babies like that.

Maybe you should start a thread about this subject. To see what kind of opinions you get? Mine is a big YES people actually do go for that. But, just like anything else, it's not for everybody.

My advice would be to find someone you trust and give it a try...just once. When somebody else does it to you, you might feel differently. I'm not saying you will, but it's possible. There have been others who thought it was all nasty and dirty (which the reality is far from the obvious visual some have), and found out they feel differently, once trying it. Well, there is a particular thought process that some enjoy, but it's not for everybody. And, sometimes it's just how you're going about it, that makes it work. I do think you would benefit from starting a thread, or at least posting to mine, asking some of these questions. It wouldn't hurt...much.

You make a very good point in that the worst employees understand how to get by through the system. I've seen that a lot where I work, because that place iis only interested in warm bodies. But, I disagree with your thought that she must go along with it, because he filed it. I think she is his friend, his only friend and he is her only friend. Something else that happens between the wrost employees is they tend to back each other up to the point of even lying.

But, everything is working out. I'm getting transferred to the post I wanted, and it all starts in a couple of days. That means I'll only see him for about 2 minutes each of the next couple days and her one last time on Monday morning for maybe 10 minutes. I requested the move a couple months ago, before this all started. It's nice when something good happens to those who wait. LOL.
