part 11 of the China Pearl Inn

This is a day to remember of what we are thankful for, family, friends, and so many things we do not take time to see. It is all the little things that touch us each day.

I wish one and all, and those denizens of the inn, a happy Thanksgiving.

Oui Tio, pas problème. Having come from a reserve in Quebec I am well aware of the Myths around the first Thanksgiving. That being said I take the day to remember the things I am thankful for.
Cait what are your plans for Thanksgiving? I'll be off to see family that is out here then back on Friday.
Ah CG, nothing big. My immediate family and Dryfter's son, my step-son. I did kind of go all out with snacks, but then, supper is going to be around the usual time of our daily suppers. My grandson works today but luckily he's off around 1 pm CST. It's nice actually. I'm not on my feet constantly to get things done.

I will later be on my way to my son's. Made a strudel for desert though I am sure others will bring pies Cait.
I love making French pastries but will settle with Bavarian today. ;)

O..M..G. Strudel. *sigh* I love strudel, especially with coffee. I made pies for the family, apple and pumpkin. I make one pumpkin pie a year and I have one piece. That's it for me.

Ah it is just a simple strudel apple pear, nuts and currents in a puff pastry.

So you like Strudel I see Cait. I always preferred mincemeat to pumpkin. I know a tad old fashion.

Well it being Thanksgiving I am sure that their will be several Pumpkin pies to be had Cait. ;)

Sounds like a meal to be enjoyed Cait with family and good company. ;)

Well I hope all are pleasantly recovering from a wealth' of tasty food and good fellowship.

Home at last and settling back in. ;)

An interesting selection of cocktails Jack. I have always had a liking for the French 75, Oh how it gets the job done. ;)

It's tasty, and it presents well. I was researching drinks for another story I'm working on. I love Cait and I's story, but it just requires knowledge of beer, whiskey, and coffee.

Whisky and coffee pair well, Jack, but I'd be careful about adding beer to the mix. Whiskey and coffee pair well, too. Doesn't matter if it's English/Canadian (whisky) or American/Irish (whiskey); it all goes well.

And thanks for the cocktail link. It's informative, and gives me some good ideas for what to serve when my three daughters come for the holidays.

In a story about the American West we're keeping it basic but I always like enhancing a good story. I mean we roleplay here, but it is writing.

Of course; it's more enjoyable if it's thought and written well. The American West was stocked mostly with rye whiskies:
"Rye whiskey, rye whiskey, rye whiskey I cry.
If I don't get rye whiskey I surely will die."
(from an American folksong of the Old West)

Kentucky sipping whiskey (Bourbon) was for the gentry.

Redbreast 12 year Irish pot still is my favorite, though I might lean towards the 21 year if I could afford two hundred dollars a bottle.

Bourbon is Cait's preferred as well, I believe.

She wanders in, finally, with a cup of hot coffee in her hand.

"Mmmm. Bourbon. Well, CG, my go-to is usually tequila, but I DO love a good smooth bourbon. Got to keep my taste buds educated," wrinkles her nose, "but I do not care for champagne. I find it to be overrated in my opinion. While I appreciate the really good stuff, I've been known to drink Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Jameson (Dryfter's and mine go to whiskey) and a few others. Okay... now I need to get to work and get some writing done. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving."

Well then to aid you in your writing a little Buron. I slide over three fingers of Burbon to her.

Burbon was originally a French whiskey named after the French royal family.
I see Tio you are providing a little inspiration as well.

Time to turn my attention again towards the written word, I settle into the wing chair by the window, a place for my eyes to pause for occasional respite from the pure white page and its jet-black runes. And, of course, a tumbler full of Redbreast on the side table. Time now to write of a writer . . .

I am settled by the hearth pen and paper at hand. The flames sensually devouring the logs in a wavering dance of passion. It seems Tio and I have been called by our muse's.
