part 11 of the China Pearl Inn

The morning dawns with a light fog and a cold frost that was left a rhyme layer of ice pm all. The sun gradually breaks though but parts none of its warmth.

This calls for action! First a trip to the woodshed for firewood to feed the fire on the hearth. The next a steaming mug of coffee with a healthy splash of Irish.

"Ah that's better."

Yesterday's chilled blue skies have given way to a cold gray overcast day. Yet a bit of Irish cheer, about 12 years old, lends its own warmth and cheer to the day.

The clear skies of yesterday a stroll in the woods in search of the right tree for Christmas was met with success. I also found a grove of holly. Now all the Inn needs in some mistletoe. Now where to place that kiss? :p

Comes in from the cold and just goes to work on the coffee machine, adding some Irish to the mug and sitting down in a booth near the heater. Well, at least my writing is almost up to date.

G'Day Jack coffee and Irish will warm your spirits and I believe the fire I laid on the hearth will take the chill from your bones.

I come with peace offerings! A tablet with preloaded Christmas songs 🎶 and a karaoke machine. Anyone up for a go?

Oo fire! 🔥

Boozy Irish coffee, double oooos!

Turning from the window to look on the new arrival. Another tumbler of Redbreast, and I'll join in, hopefully somewhere near the right key.

When our host, cgraven is here, he usually serves, but anyone is welcome to serve temselves (or anyone else, for that matter.)

Here, I'll get you started. a nice hot mug of Irish coffee, heavy on the Irish.

Excellent! Mahalo, lovely.

Sip. Sip. Longer sips.

Ah, that sure hit the spot. I'll return the hospitality by offering you the first-mic? The floor is your, lovely.

It's from the 1500s, generally attributed to Mateo Flecha the Elder (died 1553)

Here's one to go with the Irish coffee:

Oh thank you. You're so generous. I never knew Irish can sound so peaceful. I must move Ireland higher on my Must Visit Bucket List.

Cheers! 🍻

It seems Tio you and Lotus_Maiden are in quite a festive mood welcoming the season with song and good cheer. ;)

Seems I missed most of it. Good night and may you both have sweet naughty dreams.

The day dawns overcast and cold, yet the fire on the hearth, a warm mug of spiced cider with just a splash of brandy to warm body and soul. ;)

Morning to any who may be about and to those that hide in the shadows.

And a good day to you, our gracious host here at the Inn. Yes, the Winter Solstice approaches; it time to begin the revelries that will drive away the cold and dark.

I've caught up on my writing and now await my partners' responses.

I think a touch of the Redbreast is in order.

He puts a plate of chocolate frosted donuts out on the bar, then takes one and returns to his booth to relax.

A little something for the denizens of the inn an apple and pear strudel, and a dozen of French Market Doughnuts with a dusting of powdered sugar.
Just a little something for your sweet tooth. :giggle:

Oh my. More snow flurries. Ah well, at least I don't have to go out in this stuff today. One can tell we're entering the holiday season. People are getting impatient and making mistakes. Also, my dedicated time for writing is getting harder to come by, but I'll fight for it. You gentlemen are worth it.

What do I feel like today? A little Bailey's in my coffee perhaps? I'll be over there by the fire with my laptop. I owe people a post.

I pour a very healthy splash of Bailey's into Cait's coffee. A little whipped cream on top, after all it is a festive season Cait.
I loved your post to Undercover. Your Miss is quite a sassy Miss. I love it.

All seems quiet in the Old China. I've a large box of Timbits to leave for any who arrive. Time now for me to slip into the wing chair by the window, Koh-I-Noor and Moleskine in hand, Redbreast and Java by my side, and write. There's three RPs for response and two commissions to create. Which and where will my muse take me tonight?

Tio it sounds like you are very busy writing. love it when I have a busy writing day. ;)

*pops in from the ether*

Tio. I forgot to mention it yesterday. I love the Santa hat your avatar is sporting. :)

*pops back out to get some work done*
