He popped a cold beer and as he looked out over the glassy lake the only thing he could think was "how nice this was and how this was the type of life he longed for."

Have you ever thought about giving it all up...I mean leaving the force...I don't know...setting up a little store selling bait or even a PI shop, hang out our own little shingle and just leave the grid?

Turning back he sipped his beer and guided the boat across the lake...looking forward to the rest of the night and weekend

He pulled the boat in, Marco took the quick rout, jumping off the boat and gleefully swimming to shore. There he was tail wagging, waiting for them as they de boarded.

I’ll get our man here his dinner, then how about pasta and marinara, maybe some garlic bread and red wine?

Or are you in the mod for something else?

He let his eyes dance up and down her still naked body

He went over and leaned down giving Marco a good ear scratch as the big boy whimpered and wagged his tail

Okay, dinner for you first...he took out the massive bag of veterinary blend, sweet potato and salmon...at the very top he smiled as it read, "For Big Guys"

"That's definitely you!" He laughed and as he poured Marco stuck in his snout as the food rained down on top of him

Walking back into the room a few moments later in shorts and a t-shirt she smiled to them.



So what was that about pasta and wine? Or something else

I saw her and let my eyes scan up and down the body I desired like no other

I'm cooking up the marinara now...Marco is fed...and I will put the pasta in, in a minute

Why don't you open the wine and would you mind tossing the salad? Oh and the garlic bread should be done in a minute

She smiled and walked over to him with a soft kiss before working on salad and wine. She loved this. Real in the moment but a fantasy of a life. They all needed this. Danny a d Marco needed each other if only to remind the other that there was always someone watching over her. She and Marco had bondec from minute one of. Eeting each other. She and Danny simply needed and wanted each other.

This felt more right than anything he could ever remember. He had been trapped into getting married, but had there ever been a moment that compared to how he felt with Jess? if so, he sure as hell couldn't remember it.

He finished the sauce and set the garlic bread on top of the stove, the pasta was simmering and would be ready any minute, and then they would sit down, enjoy a meal like a little family...and that brought a huge smile to his face.

He walked up behind her as she spun the salad, and he put his hands on her waist and kissed her neck. He spoke softly in her ear. "I know we don't have much time, and in two days we will be in the thick of it, but can we just try to forget work for two days, no bad guys, just you, me and Marco? Just enjoy what it would be like if it was just us?"

 

[Asa]

She smiled at his words and pressed back against him with a soft contented sigh. One hand reaching up and back to his cheek letting herself get lost in the sensual dream.
