Danny looked down and saw Jess squeezing her fingers into a fist and then extending them, and squeezing again. He could guess what had happened but he only smiled, enjoying her own brand of vigilante justice.

He looked at the Commissioner, "Can I tell her?" He saw her scowl, but given his special forces background he had a CIA security clearance which was quite different than any police work.

Yes, I assumed you would demand her be a part of the team.

Danny nodded, "Jess, the commissioner is ready to take the attack to the top of the drug lords, they want me be ready as we flush out the leaders to take a shot. It isn't what we normally do, but at least it is an aggressive attack...what do you think?"

 

[Asa]

Walking a very thin line with it being an election year aren't you Tom?

Her eyes narrowed as she studied the commissioner for a long moment.

You know a couple of phone calls and I can have at least two people here who would fit the flush them out side to a T. Yet you have not ever asked that... What's different?

She nodded to Danny she was by his side no matter what and he knew it.

The Commissioner smiled

Yeah, I know, not exactly politically savvy maybe, but I've been at this a long time and I am just god damned tired of losing and watching these gangs take over.

"We will have Danny's back, but sometimes you have to try to cut the head off the Cobra...and I've never had a shooter who could compare with Danny..." He smiled "....well maybe one, but luckily she will be in this with him, I think?"

 

[Asa]

She nodded.

K ow this though commissioner If I ever for one moment think you are willing to throw us under the bus I will become your nightmare too.

The Commissioner smiled and nodded. “I wouldn’t expect any less. But I need you to understand, we could all go down on this. I will have your back, and the FBI and CIA both have ours, but this is not something the liberals or bleeding hearts would ever understand. This is damn near warfare, and I trust you two, we can make a real difference here.”

He stopped and looked at them, “Jessie, you may have to go undercover here to smoke them out, you and other members of your team. I will leave it to you, and the team as to how you do it. If Danny strikes from afar or close up, and how...uh...intimately you have to get involved.”

The commissioner shot Danny a look, and he fired one back. He knew how protective Danny and Jessie were of each other, but theirs was a special breed, and well, special breeds like that tended to either strongly attract or repel each other, and repulsion appeared out of the question.

 

[Asa]

I can go one better... I bring my "Nephew" into town.

There were only three people who knew she was even in contact with her dads "first wife's" and his grandson her nephew. Her dads ex was a sore topic at home but her half brother and nephew had always been people she stayed in contact with even when they created the mc to help the first Iraq war vetrans have a place to belong when they had no one. The MC mainly did things like protect kids from their attackers in court or bullies in school or families from abusive spouses who chose to ignore restraining orders but they also skirted what was and wasnt legal to an extent as well and jistifiable homicide was a part of that.

Her father knew the Commissioner knew and Winnie and the Sarge knew. Her stare deadpan as she looked into the commissioners eyes.

The Commissioner didn't know how comfortable he was with this. The more people who knew what was going on the more exposure they all faced.

He looked at Danny, but all he saw was solidarity with Jessie, and somehow he liked that.

We are going to put this in your charge, you two know the stakes, but no matter what you do, and who you choose to involve, you have our support. I will give you burner phones, we will establish communications protocols, but this is a rogue mission...your call who you take with you?

 

[Asa]

She raised a brow to him but smirked.

We got this but as for undercover we will see.

The commissioner smiled, "just be smart, I assigned you, because you are both smart and ruthless if necessary, but I don't want any dead heroes...I don't have to tell you, these men have no fear and are pure evil."

He looked at Danny, "you're sure you're ready...I know you have struggled at time with flashbacks?"

Danny only nodde, then looked at Jess..."I'm glad she is involved, she helps me stay centered...we have a good team....just have our backs."

He and Jess looked at each other before he followed her out...not sure exactly all they had just gotten themselves into.

 

[Asa]

She shook her head.

He clearly doesn't want to be reelected to pull a stunt like this. Personally we need to make sure this is not some sort of retaliation against the whole Kline thing.

She smirked and nodded as the cop that was walking back from seeing off Kline's bus to prison as the man have her a thumbs up and big smile.

Danny stopped and looked at her, "Retaliation for Klien?"

I guess it is possible, but I don't know, I have trusted the commissioner...but we probably do need to not be too trusting

But I have to say, I like this idea...these people are scum, and I am ready to take the fight to them....but if you're unsure....then tell me, I don't want to push you into something only for me?

 

[Asa]

Would it really be me if I was not suspicious of everything but our team... Seriously.

She joked but was dead serious as well.

He laughed, “No it wouldn’t!”

It is funny though, I have as much or more reason to distrust than you, but Ithink the commissioner is a good man, but time will tell

No one was in the hall so he closedand gave her a quick kiss

I’m glad you are with me on this, but are you really good with bringing everyone in?

If this goes south, careersif not lives could be ruined

That's why it may be better to pull in outsiders. I know Sarge and the others will want to be involved but we can't risk them judt in case. But if you think we should present it to the others we will

She smiled at the quick kiss and nodded.

I think we owe it to them to let them make their decision, but be really honest on the risks. They shouldn’t do this out of some misguided loyalty. They have families and obligations.

It went without saying, nut they had each other. Yes he was married, but the only person that mattered was right here, Jess, maybe Marco.

[Asa]

Lets go tell them.

She nodded and headed to the door.

Oh and I know I broke his nose maybe his jaw too

Danny laughed, “I’m sure you did, I hope it made you feel a little better.... I better be careful making love to you, god only knows what you might break if I got you angry!”

Danny winked, God he was crazy about her, but the fact she seemed to feel the same was the amazing part. Danny was in essence a professional killer, of course typical in hostage situations, his objective was to incapacitate, not kill, but in the military, and in this new assignment, his job was clear. He would have one shot, usually quite difficult and he was supposed to shoot to kill.

They headed back to the precinct, the entire team, including Sarge was there. We led them into the back room, and Danny spoke first. “Guys, Jess and Ihave a new assignment, we are not cleared to give all the details, but want to explain the gist. I don’t really expect any of you to join us, if I were you, I’m not really sure I would, but you at least deserve to know what is happening...”

 

[Asa]

Thin line...

She sighed

With alleged FBI CIA backing. Drug war ramp up hardcore.

Danny slowed and looked at each team member in the eye.

We are taking the war to them, the belief is if we cut off the heads, we can created chaos in the beast.

It is a high risk strategy and may not work, and if it doesn't the backers we think we have may fall away or simply not be able to help us.

I could try to cut it a different way, but this is warfare and I will be shooting to kill, so will Jess...and if it goes South...well you know the drill

 

[Asa]

The Sarge looked to Jessie.

Do I hear motorcycles rolling into my city?

She shook her head no.

The only reason those motorcycles will roll into town is if I think for one second that they are throwing us under the bus as it were or would not back us up and the commissioner knows it.

Danny motioned to Jess

They deserve to discuss this without us

As they walked out, he turned to Jess, “Motorcycles?”

Mom is my dad's second wife. I have a half brother and nephew. My nephew started an MC a few years ago. Mostly... Honestly guys like you and that friend of yours. Soldiers who needed a place to fit in. Normally they do things like accompany kids to court to face their abusers or bully's in school. Help abused families escape. Sometimes they walk a very thin line between legal and might be legal.

I figured, “God help us if this turns South. What do you think the team will do, all in, all out, or selective, I almost hope...”

Sarge was the first out the door...

The sarge looked at them.

There is not a damn soul in that room that wants you two to do this especially not alone.

He smiled

If it keeps motorcycles out we are in. Keeps them out till the last resort.

Danny went over and shook his hand
