PC question - how can you tell...

You could have a look at your connection icon and see if the amount of date sent is high. It shouldn't be higher than the amout recieved I would think. Also just get into the habbit of regular maintenance with programs like Ad-Aware, Spybot and a good virus scanner. And you should have firewall up at all times.

If that doesn't help or it wasn't what you're on about, my applologies, please ignore.

When the F B I kicks down the door and hauls you and your computer off...thats not to good!

On a serious note I would think installing free ZoneAlarm, making each progam ask permission and locking out the internet and seeing what pops up would be a good indication about whats going on.

a quicker solution would be to disconnect your internet connection and seeing how quickly your PC freaks out.

Thanks guys - I've had a good rummage around registries and whatnot, scans & firewalls coming up clear and all seems well.

Apart from the damned thing eating my brain while I was asleep that is...

:D

So yeah, in short, install a firewall, run spyware blocking/spyware scanning software, keep your antivirus up to date, and be alert to see if your computer begins craving the flesh of the living.
