Photo ID For Voters Favored By Majority Of American People

There is so much precedent that says, in a nutshell, that your ability to exercise your Rights doesn't have to be "easy."

Gun Rights are the perfect example of this. There are so many hurdles for the average person to get over just to buy a gun that's it is decidedly not "easy." Democrats back this logjam by saying that if one gun death is avoided it's worth it.

Yet when it comes to voting, requiring ID is going to far. Because of course if just one unlawfully cast ballot can be avoided, it's not worth requiring ID to vote because that makes it too difficult instead of "easy."

Getting a driver's license, boarding an airplane, going to an 'Awards Show' buying liquor, buying a gun - these require an ID, but voting for the next leader of the free world doesn't?

Are you insane?

None of those things are constitutionally mandated rights (although I wouldn't put it past Trump to think so, since he thought they had airports in 1776). Voting is.

You cant reason with a brain washed idiot! Dont worry, voting machines are going, paper ballots, ONLY, same day voting ,and voter ID is soon to be te law of the land! Computers and algorithms have stolen our elections since 2000! Its all about to end! So a good bet would be what goes first, the D party or voting as it is today? They are both coming. If I was a betting man, I say the D party goes first! TRUTH

Gun ownership isn't a constitutionally recognized right? :sneaky:

I worked in elections for 20 years. Voter ID is largely a solution in search of a problem, but there are ways to implement it that avoid the disenfranchisement potential. As with most things, devil is in the details, but details and nuance don't matter these days. Everything is black and white.

One of the States (Louisiana) I worked in has Voter ID. Guess what happens if you don't have ID? We ask your Mother's maiden name, you tell us, and if it matches what's on your registration you vote on the machine like everyone else. It is one extra piece of paper and 10 seconds of time.

It's hard to claim a set up like that is disenfranchising.

Liberals could engage on this topic and push for something like that, instead of the more extreme version in other States that arguably is disenfranchising. If they were smart, they could even get it as a national standard, which would override the States that are doing it in a disenfranchising manner.

In Canada you don't have the same history of Jim Crow and its lingering aftereffects. You do have your own sins to answer for, but not this specific one which has resulted in a lot of eligible voters not being able to produce the documents needed for a photo ID, and where 90% of those voters would vote against the party that's pushing for voter ID.

More to the point, as we have said again and again and again, it's a non-problem. There is NO evidence of ANY non-citizens voting, never mind the millions the Republicans would have you believe. In the much-maligned 2020 election, there were maybe half a dozen documented cases of voter fraud, all of them involving US citizens who tried to vote twice, and significantly, they were all Republicans. At least one of them did it because he'd heard the Democrats were cheating and he wanted to offset it.

As for "Somalia does it", since when is that an example we want to emulate?

oh ok

The new voter ID proposal would take years to implement in a way that does not violate the Voting Rights Act. Just look at how long it's taking to implement Real ID credentials for flying.

Thus, the current voter ID proposal is just a cynical ploy by MAGAts to suppress voter turnout in the near term.
Yup it’s so unamerican to ask for an id ! Let us all vote ! Anyone who can make it to the polls should be able to vote !! Kids too it’s there future! Also all people in jail should vote ! Anyone visiting during the election who is related to you ! Everyone 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🇺🇸

Just MOAR proof the party of perverts, pedos, canibals and THIEVES, wont EVER hold the title of POTUS again! They cheated in virtually EVERY SINGLE STATE! Trump did a FANTASTIC job setting these stupid fucks up! And hats off to Elon for giving us Starlink! There's a reason the commies tried to take out these satellites! TRUTH

It's the GOP that is circling the drain -- can't you see that?

Deplorables: We should force people to identify themselves with I.D. before they can vote.

Also Deplorables: I anonymously spread lies & bile on the internet in efforts to sway voters and, if that anonymity was taken from me, I would scream about my rights being violated.
