It's possible individuals own guns because of the following:
1. They hunt, and eat the meat.
2. They live in a rural area, without a close police presence.
3. They live in a crime-ridden area.

All of these are legitimate reasons for personal gun ownership that have nothing to do with feeling powerful, and everything to do with feeling safe, and feeding a family.

1. Hunting is about the only proper use for guns, long guns too.
2. Chances are criminals live a long ways off too.
3. Hire more police. It's their job to combat crime.

Canada, Australia, the UK and New Zealand, all cousin countries to the US with a similar law code and culture are proof that guns are not necessary for personal safety.

Americans live in fear of their government and their poor. Guns are not the answer to fear.

But then we hear of how America's problems are so exceptional that there is no comparison to other countries. Bullshit!

In Washington Pizzeria Attack, Fake News Brought Real Guns

WASHINGTON — Edgar M. Welch, a 28-year-old father of two from Salisbury, N.C., recently read online that Comet Ping Pong, a pizza restaurant in northwest Washington, was harboring young children as sex slaves as part of a child-abuse ring led by Hillary Clinton.

The articles making those allegations were widespread across the web, appearing on sites including Facebook and Twitter. Apparently concerned, Mr. Welch drove about six hours on Sunday from his home to Comet Ping Pong to see the situation for himself, according to court documents. Not long after arriving at the pizzeria, the police said, he fired from an assault-like AR-15 rifle. The police arrested him. They found a rifle and a handgun in the restaurant. No one was hurt.
