Pleasure Kingdoms Second Attempt: OOC

I'm not sure on Taren's opinion of the whole thing, but if a monster interrupts Ritsuko's current activities, she's going to be very cross. It is night time after all. Hey...if a Shadowmaster can learn, it wouldn't take much to teach a troll or two. hehehe

(chuckles) P.S. - Speaking of the Forgotten Realms. You might find it interesting that I'm currently under pressure to finish up a book for them. No promises of publication so far, just a lot of interest.

OMG!! PLEEEEEEASE let me know the title so I can grab a copy when you're done. My favorite character so far has been Drizzt (how can you tell, heh). I read his whole dark elf trilogy, as well as the Icewind Dale trilogy. And the Cleric Quintet, don't know if you've heard of those (Cadderly and Danica, the Chaos Curse, etc.). And I played extensively in Baldur's Gate I & II for PC. Liek I said, I'm really into medieval fantasy stories, heh. I never got into the actual D&D game (though I wish I had). My brother and I play an online MMORPG now called Dark Age of Camelot, which is pretty sweet. They have an RP server where you create a character like here and everyone plays IC. Of course, if RP isn't your bag, you can just play on the regular servers. Anywho, rambling on now...

But seriously, what area is your book about? And what sorts of characts do you have? And what bad guys? Well, damnit, just tell me about the book, lol.

Okay, I've got it. Something followed Enosch when he snuck into their camp. Okay, I know. It's not so great on my ego, what with Enosch supposedly a very good sneak. Oh, well. We all make mistakes from time to time. Anywho, I prefer this bit anyways, as it will allow Enosch (and whoever wants to) to fight away from the camp, so that ritsuko and taren don't hear it and have to leave what they are doing. Also, it would keep with the current logic that monsters dont gather outside an evil lair, only inside. So, I don't see this as a very powerful monster, but something to help pass the time (and keep me from going insane; my ADD is startin to kick in, lol). Maybe Logan and I will go out, since we are away from the fire already (if Night feels like a quick battle). Of course, that would leave Zarl and Levastine all alone, with Shizura asleep. But we know they can find some way to occupy their time. But like I said, anyone that wants to is, of course, more than welcome to come slice and dice. At the moment, I'm thinking about a warg (large wolflike creatures, but bigger and hella tougher) and a gnoll (Gnolls sometimes keep wargs to hunt with, like humans use hounds). The warg picked up his scent and tracked him, which would allow for the time he has spent in the camp so far. Since they picked up his scent, it could have been a bit later than when he passed the spot. This should give Enosch and Grindarr a bit of fun. If anyone else wants to join in, we may have to add a few more baddies.

Of course, as always, if you guys disagree that any monsters come at this point, then just lemme know and I'll leave em out. Just thought it would be a bit of fun, lol.

I think that's supposed to be your big cat. But it can turn into a battle. I don't think anybody will care. And I could very well be wrong, I have no idea.

And I don't think the Trolls can regenerate. Nor would I say monsters are really afraid of fire, as most monsters seem semi-sentient, just really dumb because they have no functioning society or education, and are driven by base instincts.

But I digress.

PC fights? Usually it's an action-by-action thing. You can say what you're trying to do, and list a few possibilities, if you want. The best thing to do, in my opinion, is to PM who you're fighting, and work it out beforehand, so you can post making some injuries and such.

Like you could PM me and say you want to fight in a bit, and la-de-dah, and when you post you have not only the fight starting, but a few simple reactions from me included in it to make it mroe dramatic and crap.

La-de-da.

Anyway, yeah, we're outside Wain's lair. It's some sort of test, is the way I understand it. So once we get in the caves is when the excitement starts, and until then, he's keeping the monsters under tight control.

*yawns*

Mmm. Toasted.

Anyway,...Yeah,...I'm getting very tired of camp. And I have no idea what JC planned for when we got in the caves. *sighs* And I was so looking forward to Wain and his...umm, "truth."

Blah blah blah. Why am I still typing? I don't know.
I'm gonna go post.

Yah, thats why I originally wanted to drop in something like your shadow things from before, which would hate to be around light, or something weak to fire (my previous understanding of troll) which would not come into camp because of the same reason. It makes for a more dramatic buildup (i.e. It starts storming, can't see anything, fire goes out, THEN the monsters attack. Of course, its been used before, but why fix a clock thats not broken.) But anyways, I can understand why Wain would not try to chase you off with baddies, if he wanted you inside. No qualms there. It just seems like this is the place where I usually go to the bathroom during a movie, or fall asleep when reading. That's why I keep trying to build that "something" is gonna happen (Levastine too, nice job on that). Keeps the readers (me included) interested in your story. Of course, I realize that it is different when you have so many authors at the same time writing their characters. On a related note, if I am absent for any amount of time that needs Enosch to be doing something, GM or Night can feel free to make him move.

As long as it doesn't launch into another war, I don't care if one or two monsters attack.

Build a better mousetrap. Don't leave it be just because it's not broken.

I have no probs with a fight.

The elven shadows, there are a few still out looking for Lavastine. For this (still unknown Master) wishes to gain her back. So, but they are now waiting for the right moment to make their move. They fear Zarl and Evee... so they are waiting till Lavastine is alone, or at least able to distract others better than before.

(They not very smart for being spirits.. lol..)

Well, due to popular demand, heh. Okay, here is the upcoming battle. Three intelligent monsters, and their hunting pets (each monster has a different one). At the moment, I see me, Logan, Zarl, Lavastine, and Grindarr available for this fight, which makes five. If any of the others decide to jump in, this should be a piece of cake. Being that all your characters will probably know a bit about some of these, even if you dont, I am going to describe them all here, in case your character needs to know it beforehand. If I got any of the terms wrong, please feel free to adjust, as I am not starting this until everyone checks it out first. Here is what I have in mind:

Of course you know the warg already. He belongs to a gnoll called Gorlok. Gnolls are humanoid with hyena type heads, but they are generally very large, very strong, and very tough. Not too quick, or quick witted, gnolls are however formiddable opponents, as a single slice or thrust to the torso wont be enough to take them out. The warg is similar to a wolf, but like his owner, he is bigger, meaner, and tougher. However, wargs are also more intelligent than their smaller cousin, and are evil, which means they aren't after you for food or to defend themselves, they want to kill you.

Next up we have a bugbear named Draalin. Bugbears are large, ugly, goblinoid creatures. Their size makes people think they are slow, but they are actually rather quick and very strong. In comparison, they are more intelligent than the gnoll, though still not the brightest being you will run across, mainly because they spend most of their time training to fight. Draalin's pet is a drake, a large lizard with a thick scaly hide and very poisonous bite (think komodo dragon).

Finally, there is Ni, a minor hobgoblin mage. While he knows a few spells, Ni's danger lies in his intelligence (he is very sneaky). Being a hobgoblin, he is still rather formiddable physically. However, since he has trained mainly in hobgoblin magic, he is not all that strong or durable. His pet is large crow (wingspan around seven feet), which is very dangerous, and hard to notice since it is night (see, told you he was sneaky).

Ni has a limited spell list, consisting of mainly void magic spells, perhaps a few earth spells as well, but nothing really major. His most dangerous spell is Globe of Darkness, which creates a sphere of a type of void which absorbs all types of light, so that outside, it is impossible to see in and inside it is impossible to see, in or out.

Gorlok has no spells, but look for a couple of tricks up his sleeve anyways, as he is a gnoll hunter and is bound to have a few surprises like the false bottom in his sword. On pressing a button in the hilt, a razor sharp spike about a foot long extends from the bottom of his sword.

Finally, Draalin has a couple of trance techniques, mostly fire and void type trances, most dealing with enhancing his strength and speed in battle.

These aren't your everyday cannon fodder monsters, so please don't end up killing them in one hit, ok? Besides, that wouldn't be any fun. And expect Grindarr to bounce in soon and get rid of the warg. Anyways, these aren't my characters, so enjoy having them do any actions you want. And enjoy the battle. If you dont like the ones I have here, or want to do a different one/more/etc., feel free.

I don't think there are Void-type trances.

Since Void is technically a lack of things, I don't see how it could be added to physically strength. Unless used to make things lighter or something. I dunno.

(steps back a second, clearly startled.) Wow...wasn't expecting that much enthusiasm, lol. Yup...I've read most of Bob Salvatore's books as well, though Drizzt is not my favorite FR character. I have to say that either Ed Greenwood's Storm Silverhand character or Elaine Cunningham's combination of Danilo Thann and Elaith Craulnober are my favorites. Its just so hard to decide. And yes, I've read the Cleric Quintet, I own it in fact. Though I think my favorite characters were the Bouldershoulder brothers. :)

(winks) I'm already well into the book, though I don't feel comfortable discussing too much about it yet. Suffice it to say, that if it is actually printed, I'm guaranteed to sell at least 600 copies. (I played the online game, Everquest for two years and was part of one of the biggest guilds on my server. My old guildmates are still send me e-mails asking me how my work is coming. They are demanding a post on the old guild website should publication become imminent. Hehe...I did a lot of writing for EQ as well, using my own guildmates as characters. If you'd like me to send you one of those old stories, I could see if I still have them laying around somewhere. :))

OMG dood, that would kick ass! Yah, Ivan and Pikel are awesome, especially Ivan's encounters with Elbereth.

As for the void trance, couldn't void also be the absence of, say sanity, or a magical armor type trance that absorbs magic and makes the user stronger from the magic's power? Or a weapon add that lets each blow sap the strength of whoever gets hit. Dunno if any of these are useable, just suggestions. Besides, I really dont even know if monsters can use trance techniques. I assume that some can, but I am frequently mistaken when I think something is some way, so feel free to correct me, heh.

Last post..... well for most of today..

Jeanne is here with a vengence. it is really windy and I do not know if I will have power for much longer. If need be someone can move Logan along. The storm well the worst of it should be past around 2-4pm so I will come back then to check posts.

Sigh....I feel for you NightRayne....4 named hurricanes in a month. Hope you find safe shelter and everything turns out alright there, and hope to see you back soon. :(

Well I am here just off and on. We are lucky right now to still hav power. But our roads are now underwater again. Actually at this time (124) we are under the eye of the storm so it is raining but the winds are not so bad. But we have more coming until it is out of the way.. so several mosr hours of wind and rain to come... Yay! I am not looking forward to being stuck in my house for three or four days and having to miss out on work.

Damn, wasn't expecting a dragon on this one, lol. How powerful is Eeve's dragon form, and how large? I mean, its no big deal, Eeve, I will just need to scale up the monsters for this one. I don't have much experience, but I think dragons tend to demolish their foes rather easily. Of course, this won't matter much, if people keep waking up and joing the battle, lol. We could just blow through this one and get rained into the caves, heh. So far, we're only down to two party members that are still out, so this might end up being good.

On a side note, please be careful with the loud sound effects (crash, boom, howl, roar, etc.) when you are catching up your character. Ritsuko us already back at the camp (hopefully with Taren) and the rest of the party would have already heard and commented on your roar before she got there. Even if they don't, Enosch hasn't met you yet, and would definitely not like hearing a roar sound from the direction he has just come, especially with baddies ahead of him. Just a thought, prolly me just being anal.

Enosch check your PM please :). Also another reminder for rereading the thread.. You would have known of Eeve's dragon form.. I know over 1000 posts is alot of reading though ;).

No, I already knew she had one, but wasn't expecting her back yet. Check my last post, Zarl talks about their mode of transportation, hinting to Eeve's dragon form after the shade battle, and Logan's unicorn form, taking them all up the hill, which is why the intruders couldn't have tracked you guys here. They must be following Enosch. But like I said, the more the merrier. Welcome back Eeve.

I didn't write this battle for the whole group, as only Enosch, Zarl, Lavastine, and Logan were posting (I figured that Ritsuko was still here, just waiting for Taren to post back). But we haven't encountered the bad guys yet, so they may as well be enough for us to have some fun with. Again, that is the whole point to me writing in a battle here. I felt like the camp thing was going stale (well, except for Ritsuko and Taren, heh), and everyone was ready to stretch their fingers to type out a bit of action. So I don't expect anyone to end up injured in this fight (beyond what Logan can heal), because we still have to get up tomorrow and enter Wain's lair. So consider this one of those random anime battle episodes designed to show how uber each of the characters are, especially when they are together (laughs at his own corniness). Yes, I can see it now... Enosch and Zarl's BLACK SWORD AND FLAMING ARROW OF NIGHT'S DESTRUCTION AGAINST EVIL!!! combination attack. Sounds like a plan, kk? lol

Anyways, just have some fun in this battle. The monsters are expendable and random, so we shouldn't end up with too much conversation on this one. Maybe some "You killed my family... *mouth still moving*" *mouth stops* "Now you must pay!!" *mouth opens once* "You BASTARDS!!" *mouth agape in a primal scream as Enosch runs at the monsters* "AAAAUGH!!"

But of course, nothing too big. We can save the debate for when Zarl meets Wain. (Of course, without Shizura to narrate Wain, we should end up with a good bit of discussion between GM and himself, lol. That should be fun to read.)

Whew... Nuther longass post. Sorry guys, just happens from tiem to time...

Lol, WOW! Ok, I really didn't expect Dreant back. Good to see you, dood. I'm the new guy you might have seen in the story. By the way, where are you? Can't remember you following the rest of the crew to their current camp. So are you on a different story? Anyways, glad to have you onboard dood.

Umm, I posted the descripts of the monsters IC so any readers would catch that. I assume that Enosch has run across all of these monster types before in his hunting, and has probably read about them in his studies before his training. And, since the battle is going to take place in the camp, I thought Shizura might not be able to sleep through it. (not sure, of course, but just a hunch) So, she has been wrapped up and is gagged so she can't cast spells from her place on the ground. If she makes it back in time to fight in this battle, it shouldn't be too hard to get her loose and kicking bad guy with the rest of us. Heck, with the way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised to see the commoner that turns into a beast when he gets "excited" showing up for this one, lol. But oh well. We are up one squirrel/man, so we should be kicking ass here. Unless he decides to go off chasing those bastard squirrels again. EGAD!!

of course i'm back. lit decided not to tell me when there are new posts alot of the time, or whatever. my character also hasn't had much getting deeply involvd in the story yet either, so my posts aren't like some, which are more than once a day lol

if you read up, Dreant ran off into the woods, and came across Shizura, and then the others were air lifted to that spot. so he IS in the same camp.

and as for the squirrels, there are no squirrels. Dreant HATES squirrels, and thusly he feels they are the most vile and loathsome enemy you could come across. what he believes to be squirrels are your bugbear, hobgoblin, and.... uh, other things, like the drake.... anyways. he jsut hasn't seen them yet to realize they aren't the damnable squirrels.

i hadn't known that we had left the camp, and allowed shizura to be kidnapped, but whatever, i'm sure the story can be accomodated.

it's good to see fresh blood in this thing too. welcome aboard.

Thanks. And yeah, we all ended up by the stream one by one, except Shizura, who was still "asleep". We were heading back to camp when the howl sounded. Then, we all headed back to camp to regroup, only to find that they were already there. So, I just wrote Shizura to be tied up, in case she didn't get a chance to post while we were fighting. And if she gets back in time, like I said, it shouldn't be too hard for one of us to get her out of those ropes so she can kick some ass with us.

Anyways, sorry about missing your character. I read your posts in the beginning, but i skipped (I know, slacker, blah, blah...) the middle part so I have been sort of catching up from the rest of the crew. So, I know about your loathing of squirrels, and that is very funny that he thinks they are always around him, ready to attack again. Very interesting character, that Dreant. Anyways, looking forward to having you with us, dood.

alright, dreant has taken probaly the weakest of them down, and he's gotten hurt doing so, however.

these are not my monsters, and if this isn't a cool thing to do then someone can just.... i donno Pheonix the thing back to life.

mmmm fire.

Man I miss a day and get too far behind... hopefully in catching up I didn't take over someone else's battle or change anything.

*Cackles madly* POWER!

Oklay, anyway, trance is more of a...non-spell thing. Like special attacks. So it wouldn't really have Void effects. And a lack of sanity would be very hard to do, as that's really an outlook, and void can only be controlled by will so,...

I love AC. Mmmm. Cool. Refreshing. Ligggghhhhhhhtttttttsssssssss.

I will post tomorrow. Promise.
I will also read the damn thread,...tomorrow.

POWER!

... ... ... ... ...

You did not just do that, did you?
No, you did. You made my character say something he wouldn't have said.

Don't ever do that again. I could have accepted saying something about Ritsuko, or getting ready for battle, but Zarl would not care nor have had the thought they followed the elf, nor would he have made any note of how they got to the camp.

Bah.
