Poetry for killing time

He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sun rise.
-WB

I may live on until
I long for this time
In which I am so unhappy,
And remember it fondly.

Happenstance

I requested a simple thing of you, simply one,
that everlastingly you would be my true vision of you;
desperately wanting to never rouse and discover erroneous.
Foolishly, I rested on your dependence, trusting heartily,
forever perish, a delusion deceased.
Fleeing with belief.
Alas, how infrequently,
what we knew becomes a reality.
How we dared and dreamed in our realism,
existing in tales, but so scarcely actually truth.
Oscillated at the beauty of chance,
a universe that we created and partook together,
where nothing gained substance but the shared pulse of our passion.
Two hearts, two minds, two souls,
intertwining allowing abandonment of apprehension,
while hope rises with each stolen breath.
Could it be, clinging,
wishing, and convincing,
capturing what caused your essence to feel whole, entire.
Alas, how frequently,
this world is abundant with cruel certitude.
And glass infused dreams shattered into tiny pieces,
broken bound spirits disunited.
Yet still my human aspiration inefficaciously holds,
to a speculation in loveliness beyond the pain of broken hearts,
Serendipitous.

Asphyxiation

Your hands extend out,
yearning, enclosing.
Why did they grasp and not cling?
Why did they suddenly cease,
at my sensuality,
why did I perceive them,
as they were there, before that moment,
residing on me,
like I had already experienced that touch,
as if that was not the first,
they once dwelled previously caressing
my lips, forehead, my neck?

Years of this life of mine,
I pondered and seeked for them.
I felt their existence within me.
I ran paths,
I traversed deserts,
I sank into blue waters.
Waiting, anticipating,
the conscious carried me,
reflections possessing me,
and in the gently graze of the wind,
I imagined reaching out to you.
Suddenly surrounded by delivered wings,
I was connected to your fondle, loving touch.
This the presence I held dearly in myself?
Craving I frantically required.
Lost breath signal to me,
fears easing, yet remaining.
Your longing so quickly attached,
as hands halted,
barricading me out.
There like among waves,
being generated with lack of contact,
my purpose drown.

Deliquesce

Moonlight has but a million illusions,
and the sunshine merely one;
yet the illumination of the radiant universe expires,
along with the perish stars.
Psyche has but a million illusions,
while the heart merely one;
yet the illumination of the radiant soul expires,
as love fades.

Beautiful, my friend.

Allegory

Lesson learned,
A story to be told,
A girl I once recognized,
Loved a single boy,
Fighting against the vigor of destiny,
Battling with melancholy in growth,
Never vocalized this intimacy,
Recalling that boy's smile,
Warmth would enter her eyes,
A connection absent with words,
A ending without conclusion.

Consternation

Retrieve me after I depart from you,
left back into distance;
the time that you can no longer embrace me,
the moment of vanishment lasts forever,
body leaving, but soul remaining.
Walked away subconsciously, heart pounding,
words not spoken, crushed.
How could this happen?
Tears washing away a once vivid smile,
hidden behind tinted glasses.
Love knows nothing of its own intensity,
until that instant second of division.

Remember me as I am remembering you now,
trying to let go of the ache, fading away slowly.
Life goes on, that is what they say,
I disagree entirely, contradictor.
While time still progresses, my being has stalled.
Telling me, what is over and done is gone,
that I need to persevere back into my macrocosm,
without you, weaken and destroyed.
Can I really migrate back?
No choice, option stolen.

Only reminisce me as I always will you,
it is becoming overwhelming to pray and cry anymore,
succumbing to the veracity and grief.
As my body exited that day,
so shall tries for my heart at this minute.
Broken, and bruised it still throbs,
for that is what I must salvage.

Memorize me as I have you,
yet if you should forget me,
I understand and will keep your memory alive within mine.
For it is really easier to let go or hold on?
Struggling to remain strong each day,
a trace of the conceptualized ideas I once held so dear,
still inspiring fallacy romance.
Preferable to ignore and vacate,
opposed to recalling and feeling sorrow.
One question remains,
How does one quit and forsake?

Linger

It is my pure tranquillity, solely,
to breathe, focus only in this moment,
find serenity, acceptation,
knowing this moment is already gone,
flowing softly to the next.
Breathe deep, relish the taste of life.
If I could suspend thinking, wondering,
about every moment,
that I will never subsist in,
Lost moments.

Taciturn

We began to whisper slowly,
stared at each other, then quickly glanced away.
Tears streaming from my eyes,
weeping rebelliously, no control.
I desired to hold on to you,
but my heart palpitated, panicked.
I continued to count each second as it passed,
thinking of a time we may meet again.
But we could sense deep inside,
as we severed,
the split was going to last forever.
Beating of our hearts filled the deafening silence.
Not comprehending, I began questioning.
Tears staining, makeup ruined.
You closed my worry with just a touch,
interweaved legs and arms, strong grip.
This was our reality, time together during our journeys,
may never come to pass again, we had it.
I watched as you drifted in sleep,
the clock, haunting me.
The time entered for the end,
I clung, I ceded, I withdrew.
Then as we parted from us,
I pleaded for you to remember.
And now, all I ever held precious,
is just a fervent remembrance.
That last tender kiss, cherished embrace.
The world diverging, as I walked away.
Wounded, and watching it change,
there'll never be another us in it.
Fin.

From Dorothy P.

Once when I was young and true
someone made me sad.
Broke my brittle heart in two
and that is very bad.

Oh, love is for the unlucky,
Love is just a curse.
Once there was a heart Ibroke,
and that, I think, is worse.

Oh, I love poem. :) :rose:

Yes, yours, my dear, is the right human face.
I in my mind had waited for this long,
Seeing the false and searching for the true,
Then found you as a traveller finds a place
Of welcome suddenly amid the wrong
Valleys and rocks and twisting roads. But you,
What shall I call you? A fountain in a waste,
A well of water in a country dry,
Or anything that's honest and good, an eye
That makes the whole world bright. Your open heart,
Simple with giving, gives the primal deed,
The first good world, the blossom, the blowing seed,
The hearth, the steadfast land, the wandering sea.
Not beautiful or rare in every part.
But like yourself, as they were meant to be.

To those that slip
through the sand
Each ground leaves
Just an imprint
Never each shall forget
The legacy of which was;

Each shall remember
The harsh; the blessed
To those we failed to see.
Made an impact unto we.

I tried. Told ya. Not too good.

Not mine, but a favorite.

Sonnet LXXXI -- Pablo Neruda

And now you're mine. Rest with your dream in my dream.
Love and pain and work should all sleep, now.
The night turns on its invisible wheels,
and you are pure beside me as a sleeping amber.

No one else, Love, will sleep in my dreams. You will go,
we will go together, over the waters of time.
No one else will travel through the shadows with me,
only you, evergreen, ever sun, ever moon.

Your hands have already opened their delicate fists
and let their soft drifting signs drop away; your eyes closed like two gray
wings, and I move

after, following the folding water you carry, that carries
me away. The night, the world, the wind spin out their destiny.
Without you, I am your dream, only that, and that is all.

I've posted this before, but I love it:

Day Of The Dead

This is a witching season, the pivotal mouth as the world of the dead, staggered with the living, opens. Children dressed as spirits and monsters suck candy, parade the streets. Wind is electric, sharp as truth. Spirits play crack-the-whip in the abyss. I have needed to talk with you but you are insanely absent and I have become insanely mute. When I hold the compass you gave me, the needle points in a direction that is neither yes nor no. The star map has become symbols I can't describe because it delineates a system entering a distant compassionate universe. I have built a fire in the cave of my body and hope the devil wind gives it a chance. There is an underground river with blind fish nearby. What do they choose in this season where there must be spirit fish with wings? I cannot sing song of either staying or leaving unless I know what shape it takes when it leaves my mouth. And which direction, because I forgot to tell you that loves changes molecular structure. I am transformed but without a map. The Day of the Dead marks skeletal transition and flowers bloom in the snow. I have checked the weather and will tend the fire until I am forced to join the parade. Then I will be a madman. I will drink whiskey and slowdance with slim boys, rock with glitter angels, before going home alone. Tomorrow I will feed the dead. Then I must find you.

An appropriate post for this time of the morning.
Good night everyone.

Close your notebook.
Put down your pen.
Leave the keyboard.
Let the monitor go to sleep
and come to bed.
You write like you love,
in bursts of images
and spontaneous feelings,
recounting what you do to me.
Writing on my neck with your teeth
not because it makes your teeth feel good,
but my every jump, jerk, moan and cry
fuels your passion,
taking your pleasure from mine,
each word scratched on my back,
every line wrapped around my hips
like your legs.
Your lips, tongue and fingers learn me
new every night, while your mind
scours me for new words to tell it.
Reading with your fingers,
each touch, a line composed
of our meter and rhyme
knowing my taste, touch and smell
will be tomorrow’s poem.
Come to bed now,
for fresh inspiration, and
collect some new material.

Very good, doll. I really like it! :rose:

To the one that I care about
an angel caring and devout,
My one and only it is true
I never doubted it or you.
Words alone can not express what I feel
I am blessed by god if he were real.
My heart belongs to you and no other,
Through thick and thin you have been closer then a brother.
I can think of no one who makes my heart feel like you
My love is honest, open, and pure.
