Portal to Adventure

Neale/Alia

"Unfortunately, I can't really ask for help from my people. While the priests of Correllan Latherian are encouraged to be friendly to outsiders, my family, and the elves in general, are a wee bit on the xenophobic side." I glanced over at the other elves in our party, sharing a sad smile with them.

"Still, I have met Elminster before... if he continues the flirtations he performed at our last meeting, he is in for one hell of a surprise!"

I discovered that riding a horse wasn't too difficult in this form, and wheeled it around to join the others. "One second, everyone. Need to do something before we go. Please gather around."

I raised my holy symbol high, and cast a blessing upon our entire party, calling upon my diety to look upon our venture favorably. This was the first time I'd done this, and the overwhelming feeling of love from Correllan that washed down upon me brought tears of joy to my eyes.

Not bothering to wipe my eyes, I called out to my friends, "Okay, everyone, I have it on the highest authority that we are doing the right thing! Ready to roll, whenever you give the word, Val!"

Taran

I was given an ordinary brown steed by a cowering stablemate. Obviously a bard doesn't have such a high status as a warrior or a mage but what the hell, at least it was something.

While the others mulled over their possible pasts, I thought back to my own in this world. Living in my small village, trained by the local bard who was very reticent about his own past. Despite his continual insistence of insignificance, I could tell there was something great about him that he had obviously chosen to leave behind in some sort of retirement.

He had been a good teacher, patient and attentive to me and I had been devastated when he died. After that I couldn't recall anything, so I guess that must have been the most recent episode before 'I' got here.

Anyhow, I had no powerful friends to call upon so I just stayed quiet and sat on my horse patiently awaiting our departure.

Alyar

"I fear I will not likely call on my people for aid--it is my duty to guard them, not theirs to guard me. Still, I have many other friends who may help us along the way. It will depend on the situation and where we are, but I think we shall manage well enough.

"Before we ride out, allow me to make a suggestion as to how we array ourselves as we travel. I will ride first and watch ahead. I know the road and the likely spots for ambush. Kyle, I would ask you to come last and guard our backs. Placing the two of us in position to meet attacks first seems wise until you are all more settled in the forms you now wear. If a threat approaches, let the warriors come forward and the spellcasters fall back a few paces, with Kyle to cover their rear. Caillean, feel free to work the flanks as you see fit. Kyle, if you need help, cal out to the spellcasters for support.

"Is this agreeable to all? Valencia?"

Neale/Alia

Alia moved her horse into position within the suggested order of travel.

Kyle

I smiled at Alyar.

"Paladins don't usually call for help, we ARE help," I said dryly, grin firmly in place as Blaze, waiting for no urging from me, carried me to the rear of the company. Patting Blaze's neck I asked him, "Ready to walk backward all the way to Shadowdale?" Blaze's only comment was to flick an ear at me, as if in annoyance.

Michelle/Valencia

OOC: Sorry for taking so long to answer. Life has gotten very hectic.

IC: Valencia made no response except to mount her horse, saying,"Let's move out."

With that short statement, she urged her horse forward and headed out towards the city and then to the gates, letting Alyar lead the way towards what would hopefully be their way home.

Neale/Alia

Shaking her mount's reins, I maneuvered our horse into position, following Val out of the city. I'd miss this place, and my good friend, Alustriel, but I was filled with anticipation at the thought of finally meeting Elminster! Well, I'd met him before, but not in this body. Or rather, this body, and not this mind... Whatever! The day was too beautiful to waste time pondering the right tense and grammar to use... "Let's ride!" I called to my friends, and we rode out of the gates, ready to explore this strangely familiar world...

Sorry. been alot of stuff...

OOC: Hi, um I almost forgot baoutthis place, when everythign in my life started gettign crazy hectic. Ill try and keep in this thread, cause its been my longest one ^_^

IC: Shaking thoughts out of his head, and thinking them crazy, Enough is enoguh as it is. Patting his horse, He starts riding it alongside the others.

A man rode up from behind the party."Greetings travelers.Where are you off to"

Neale/Alia

I turned in the saddle, having heard the stranger's approach. Quietly, I cast a spell that would allow me to sense his intent, whether he was of good or evil. His aura showed no leanings toward evil, and I was satisfied of his intent.

I motioned to the others that this person was safe enough, and they continued on, while I and Alyson dropped back to converse with him.

"We are a band of adventurers, recently chartered by the Lady Alustriel, on quest against the agents of Zhentil Keep. Might I be so bold as to inquire your name?"

Kyle

"Greetings, travellers! Where are you off to?"

At the sound of tha voice, my sword had leapt from its sheath, and Blaze responded to a light tap of the knee on his side by quickly wheeling around. I faced the newcomer even as I heard Alia breathe a spell. My own keenly tuned sense of evil intent had not registered this new arrival, so I sheepishly returned my blade to its sheath, and stuck close to hear the stranger's tale.

Sorian

"My name is Sorian. And this is my steed, Silverback.I'm a wizard. atleast thats what you would call me.I think."He said as he lay a staff as long as him across his lap."I would ask to accompany you on your quest.I might be of some help."He said with a smile.

Kiai

Not being of a very trusting nature, to those who had not earned it, Kiai watched the new person with care. Watching through his deep eyes, Kiai gently held the hilt of his Katana, and continued riding slowly, never taking his eyes of the newcomer.

OOC: did you post in our OOC yet?

Neale/Alia

I looked at Sorian, measuring him. "What has drawn you to our group? I don't want to sound overly suspicious, but we've already had one bad experience with someone just coincidentally showing up and wanting to join our merry band."

/OOC:Silverwolf, please read and post accordingly to the OOC:portal to Adventure thread. I just bumped it to the top, so you can find it easily

sorian

OOC: i went and posted what i think you want but if it isn't just tell me and i'll get it up to date.

IC: "Well there is a very interesting aura around your party and i am always looking for people to travvel with.It gets kinda boring without people to talk to."He said with a smile."You don't sound to suspicious,i would probably have turned me away being in your position, not because i'm bad but because i wouldn't have known me(that is if i didn't use my magik)"he said

Neale

"Very well... I am satisfied with your motivation and character. Still, I am not the group leader. That honor belongs to Val, who is riding at the head of the group. Let's ride up and ask her opinion." Matching deeds to words, I reined around my horse, and we rode up to where Val was in the lead.

sorian

Followed neale to the head of the group where val was."I would like to join your party if that pleases you" I said as soon as val looked over.

Michelle/Valencia

I had turned my horse around and was watching Alia speak to a new arrival. My hand itched to grab ahold of my sword but I refrained seeing Kai had already taken up that position. Besides, if I was to be leader, I had to set an example.

As Alia and the new person approached I sat up to my full amazonian height and stared directly at Alia with a questioning look. She nodded slightly, enough to tell me she was not extremely suspiscious of this man. Turning a hard stare onto the newcomer with icy blue eyes, I spoke to him in a hard tone.

"You may travel with us if that is your wish but I must warn you that we have already been betrayed so expect the majority of us to be suspicious of you and your every move until your intentions are proved. It is not fair but it is the way things stand at the moment. If you can accept these terms, you may ride with us."

Turning back around to face the trail we were to follow, I waived to the group and said,"We ride. We must make time before halting for lunch. Let's move." Without another word, I urged my horse forward towards our destination.

Kyle

Stranger. Newcomer. Words that applied to me, as well. A mental shrug, and I returned to the rear of the group, this time keeping a more careful eye behind, and scanning to the sides as well.

sorian

i went to the middle of the group keeping pace with them though silverback hated the slowness of the group."

Jothal

I glanced at the stranger, but kept an eye on him even as I turned my head away again, through Dak my familiar. I understood Val, and her reasons for not being openly trusting of him. But I also felt something of a kindred spirit, for as a sorceror, in my early life, and sometimes even now, suspicion was something I had to attend with on an almost daily basis.

Spurring my horse on, I closed my eyes and began to go over my memories, reliving some those moments I had played this character in a vividness I could never hope to imagine otherwise.

Kiai

Mumbling under hsi breath, "I don't trust him..." Kiai continued to ride hsi horse, pulling to the far side of the group. Althoguh ont he far side he was in line with Valencia, and turned to see a glance form her. Kiai winked at her like his normal self, hoping that anyone else didnt see it.

Sutashi

gin'iro was antsy and nervous between my legs, and I slowed her gently, guiding her behind some shrubbery. Now that we were beyond the city walls, I felt comfortable changing into the form that more suited me here. I closed my eyes and softly murmured an incantation of calm as I went from fully human, to softly-furred feline. I remained bi-pedal, but could now understand and converse with the animals around us, and I spoke softly to gin'iro, surprising her happily. The first thing she asked me was if I consumed animal flesh, which to her relief, I replied "no". It was part of my contradictory and chaotic nature that made no logical sense unless one knew me on a very personal level. I'd sworn an oath to my former Master that I would not desecrate the body of any living creature by partaking in a meal containing it's flesh. We spoke of simple things and when gin'iro was calm, we rode back to the group.

I had not seen the newcomer approach and took the opportunity to study him from a far, sniffing the air for any scent of danger. There was no fear, only a slight uneasiness within the group, yet my hackles still rose as an overwhelming since of protectiveness flooded through my body. It seemed that everything was well in hand as I neared closer, but just to make sure, I guided gin'iro close to Jothal, and whispered softly to his familiar. Dak explained quickly about our new party member and told me to rest easy.
