Okay, folks. For the last number of months, I've been having cramps in my uterine-area after orgasms.. not just sex, but even self-induced, clitoral orgasms. No penetration needs to have occurred for these cramps to happen.. just an orgasm.

What IS it? I asked my doc about it, and he completely ignored the question and moved on to something unrelated.

Do any of you have them?

And for the How-To portion:

How do you deal with them? How do you get rid of them?

I wish I could give you a better idea, but I'd go see another gynecologist asap and push for an ultrasound, etc. What you're describing doesn't sound normal or like something to be swept under the rug. Best wishes! :rose:

My doc, who I am rather not wanting to see anymore, responded to my concerns with "well, your weight is a problem. Maybe you should consider gastric bypass... I don't know much about the procedure, or about the side effects, but maybe you should really look into it".

Like, for fuck's sake.. what an ass...

were i you, i might have recommended a cranial-rectal extraction procedure. :> it definitely sounds like something you should get some professional input on.

lol :D

I'm guessing you don't have much of a choice in doctors, Lilith, but you might have good luck if you really push and demand a referral (if you need one) to a specialist. Maybe a reminder about how bad it looks to have a colleague find a serious problem or a patient harmed from something that could have been checked out rather easily would do the trick.

I often get cramps similiar to menstrual cramps after having sex. I can't remember ever having them after self induced orgasm.

I've had these intermittently over the past few years too, but they've never been so bad that I've gone to the doctor over them. However, my period has become really irregular, so I'm thinking about going to a gynacologist for a general check-up.

hello, sweety ;)

Have you been checked for fibroid tumors or endromitriosis(sp!)? I do on occasion have cramping, but mild to say the least. When you orgasm, you contract ( of course you knew that :D ) big time inside.
Aside from orgasms or that time of the month do you have them? If so, I'd have a check up and ask them to look into it. Oh and smack that doc... he really needs it. What an arrogant ass.

I get random cramping now and again, but not all that bad. However, some of the post-orgasm cramps I've had have been so bad that I honestly swore to my honey that I never wanted to orgasm again. They made me cry.

I went to my doc, and he just skipped over the problem.

I've looked into endometriosis online, and I do have many of the symptoms of it, but need to have a new doc in order to have a serious discussion about my health without my doc just chalking it all up to me being fat.

Now, in reality, my weight is not HELPING my health.. I know this. And I'm working on it. I've lost weight. But he harps on it every time I'm there, and I feel he's using it as a scapegoat, rather than truly investigating the problem.

do any of your friends use a different OB-GYN? i mean, that's a very serious possible problem. btw:, if i were you, i'd walk into your next appt w/ him with a fake report card giving him a failing grade in bedside manner. :>

btw: congrats on your weight loss so far!

Oh, Lilith, you poor thing. :(

The doctor works for you. Fire that SOB! He's an insult to his profession.

I agree that you should find another doc, and asking friends for recommendations is a great idea. Also, if you have any friends who are nurses who work in the local hospital, nobody knows the docs and how they treat patients as well as the nurses. It's great to ask them for referrals. I have an internist I adore and trust completely, so I always ask her for referrals. She's never sent me to anybody I didn't like. If you have a GP/internist that you like, they would also be a good referral source.

I agree with getting a referral from a nurse. My current GP was a nurse until about 15 years ago, and she's all about spending as much time as it takes with patients and acting on their feelings and concerns. I've had good luck with PAs in the past as well. I've been to several doctors like yours, Ms_Lilith, and they certainly made me want to avoid getting help at all costs.

I have also had positive experiences with PAs and nurse-practitioners, even though my experiences in this regard have been confined to pediatrics. Regardless of medical credentials, however, I won't see anyone who dismisses my concerns.

I can't stand male doctors. I've never had one listen to me. I've gone to planned parenthood cause i have no money, insurence and i trust them there... they listen really well. I once in a while get cramps after sex, but only once in a rare while... i think it's cause i was using muscles i didn't normally use. i hope everything turns out ok for you. Good luck

same of some female to be honest.

i fully appreciate the doctor issues you have Lil. i'm in a similar position myself - with what is either endo or pcos ( i think endo) however the gyno is focused on removing my coil and saying that would remove pain maybe rather than adequately investigating it. his arguement is that i need to lose weight, fully agree, am on a mission, however in the meanwhile i remain with 2 weeks of pain per month. some of that time i am unable to walk and i use up to 8 of the largest size tampon each day. grrrr.

*hugs*

My female dr told me that sometimes you can get cramps like that because if you're having sex more often with more frequency, you're also building muscles where you may not have had them 'worked' before.

indeed.interesting, i guess the bad effect of that other than the cramps is the reluctence to pursue and continue high frequency sex, which in turn leads to less activty and in turn to slower weight loss ;)

bodies are odd.

I have experienced similar cramping - especially after an amazing orgasm. But the cramps don't last long and are not that severe. Never occured to me to ask my Doc about it.

But speaking of asshole doctors, went to my family doc last spring with what I thought was mono. He said it was allergies - but did I want to join his new weightloss program????? GRRRRRRRR I nearly stormed out. asshole.

I've had cramping afterwards also on occasion. It's usually after we've had a bit of rough sex or I've had truly amazing orgasms. Mine usually go away though after a short amount of time.

As far as doctors go, the last gynecologist I saw for an annual visit actually tried to tell me that I'm not really allergic to all the medications that I say I am and that it's really just in my head. Hell, I'm the one that ends up in the hospital evey time I find a new one to add to the list, I should be the one to know. She also didnt beleive me when I shared what happens when I'm under huge amounts of stress. I couldnt believe it. The part I find the most pathetic though, is that my mom swears by this doctor.

I know this is off-topic, but my grandmother is also allergic to a lot of medications. I can think of at least three times that she's almost died because she was given a medication that she was allergic to. And all of this info is on the front of her hospital chart, under the Allergies section,

A friends mother of mine had those same problems for much of her life. The horrible cramps and extreme blood loss and ends up that a small percentage of women or some such actually suffer from debilitating cramps and that pretty much the only cure is historectomy(SP?). Now I'm no doctor or expert of of female anatomy but just saying what experience has taught me.

yeah, it's in all of my medical records and even stored at the pharmacies I visit for prescriptions. It's really scary though when that allergic reaction starts, because it doesnt always hit you at first what's going on. When you do realize it, the anxiety from it usually intensifies the problems even more and makes it worse. But what else can you do but freak when your throat is trying to swell itself shut?

I agree with what everyone has recommended as far as seeking another physician, nurse practitioner, or even midwife's opinion. I go to nurse/midwives instead of a gynecologist and like them a lot. Stand up for yourself, Lil. You deserve to be treated well and not have everything chalked up to your weight.

I have endometriosis and before it was treated I often got the equivalent of cramps like I was ovulating. I suggest you look into that more.

hang in there. *hugs*

A question to your question:

Did you give birth to any children yet? If so, do these cramps feel like your having a contraction? And is it deep inside?
