:heart:Someone who is too shy to start the thread and shall remain nameless has suggested I do this.

:heart:Leave a love note for your crush in the form of a poem, passionate or loving, any form, rhyming or not.

:heart:Go to it!

This was meant to be in the General Board - an attempt to try a little culture - so ignore it, poets, please.

I woke up thinking to do the very same thing and see you beat me to it. :p But then I see you say to ignore it, even used the word please. You know us here all too well. One cannot simply see a challenge and then the words ignore it. It goes against the grain so to speak ...

Yeah poets ... go ahead (cough) ignore this challenge ~~!!!

:devil::D

We will not ignore it!!!
I actually need to come up with a poem to send my man while he's at work on valentine's day.

Ignoring thread ........ not

Your face is not familiar
I search your words out too
we've spoken through this website
and my body yearns for you

Go figure .......

POetry is like singing in your car. We all think we're better than we are.

Dance the sneaking dance
Pressed close
The throbbing rhythm
Two bodies in the dark connected by wanting
No air between us, just thin cotton and silk and
Slow rocking hips

Hard presses soft
Locked and held by searching hands that find and grip and move away
Secret kisses brush panting lips
In the close dancing darkness no one knows
Where that hand goes
Or what it finds
Hidden but not covered
Daring damp fingertips
Visit my mouth then yours

Pleading whispers as fingers licked
Trace soft circles where pink hardness grows.
Awakened want weeps down from molten heat
In the place where we meet

The beat that guides us hides our secret
Longing words whispered panting and driven
As the hands with unseen business do their work
Our bodies churning
Crushed in the no space between us
Fingers find a space between flesh and clothing
And then between flesh and flesh wanting and wet

Close to me and close to far away
Find another rhythm, the rhythm of you
Your voice lost in the roaring beat that guides and hides
Hard and soft in a frenzied crush

Passion's wave courses through your body
Strong hands carry you with the throbbing rhythm
Until the trembling tide at last goes out.

Dance on, Dance on,
Our secret safe in the dancing darkness

Can I write an Anti-Valentine poem? Last one I wrote, I ended up with a kid.

Domestic Latitudes

Forget the new toaster
or fridge bobbing
like an iceberg in the newly
made sea (we had a leak
our first night together,
remember?)

All I have ever wanted
is you.

For My Valentine

~Our Song~

Let us be lovers we'll marry our fortunes together
I've got some real estate here in my bag
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner's pies
And we walked off to look for America

Cathy I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh
Michigan seems like a dream to me now
It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw
I've gone to look for America

Laughing on the bus playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said be careful his bowtie is really a camera

Toss me a cigarette I think there's one in your raincoat
We smoked the last one an hour ago
So I looked at the scenary she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field

Cathy I'm lost I said though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
They've all come to look for America

All come to look for America

I love you, T. :kiss::heart:

my crap valentine poem

Close your eyes sleeping bride,
And let the world awake.
The stars will kiss you on your cheek,
And bid you on your way.

No if I’ll dies or shall not takes,
You live a world on summer’s day.
Where evening always greets the time,
As December always obeys.

Now you dream my weary bride,
Now you dream for me.
A place for you alone to sleep,
And worlds will never collide.

And I shall pray you’ll always shine,
So you’ll awake from upon a time.
From the realm of weary maidens,
Where thou not speaks are always broken.

The moon is high and the stars are dreaming,
Won’t you let them so?
Sleep my bride, sleep for me,
For tomorrow I’ll let you go.

I didn't mean to love you
but I found in you
the keeper of my soul,
made it beautiful again.
I could bring hearts and flowers
for you make me sing
my love
my love
my love

A bounce for My Valentine ~~

I didn't mean to love you

but your voice sent tingles, that sultry waify
laugh sent wiggles. I erupted and came up for air
just as we found ourselves questioning, what if's
and why nots.

So many nights spent chatting, finding answers
to lifes dreams before us, shimmering and just waiting
to drizzle all over. I found you sexy, smart, serenading
and tart. Your boyish charm caught hold and has never left
this sleeve of my heart.

We've overcome abuse, hurt and found ourselves
in tha land of love. You taught me what it feels like to fall
and stay stuck, in love. A place I would not trade
for the world. As I continue on my journey alone, I know
you're there helping lead, with a call away and sometimes
when I'm in luck, a drive to quench our thirst
and reslave these hearts, chained together
shaken and stirred ...

For my Valentine - and valentibes everywhere.

When I'm Sixty-four

When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

You'll be older too
And if you say the word
I could stay with you

I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride
Doing the garden, digging the weeds
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight
If it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck & Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?
Ho!

Anti-Valentine's Day Non-Hallmarkian sentiments

To the Shoes

Keep the faith. I promise
I'll continue to try
to be almost worth it.

You Know Who You Are

Goddamit. Most of the time
this is okay. It's even fun.
But occasionally
it really pisses me off
that it can't be some other way.

To the Socks

It's just a good thing
we know how good
we have it.

To That One

I intend
to save your life
over and over
whenever necessary.

To That Other One

You smell good
even at
this distance.

Scriabin's Etudes

Your black hair sleeps on the white pillow
Always in my memory it is there
Even today, as the last rays of the sun
Seep through cloud, lighting the wet leaves
Always it is there.

Now only the cloud is black, black as your hair
In my memory. All day it has threatened
But come to nothing.
Now the light edges in sideways, posts itself
Through the gap between earth and sky
And what is lit is this memory
That I have of you, your hair fanning out
Like a black wing, and your eyes closed saying
This is too much love for us.

I had the taste of you on my lips
For days, and those days lasted for years
In my memory. Now it has gone,
And only this memory survives:
This being lost in the country of your body
The piano dropping notes
So that I may find my way home.
