Let's start with actual topic, Trump saying he has total control over when the country reopens. Sorry, he doesn't. The individual governors took that action and they are the ones who need to open their states back up again. I get why he wants to do it, it's nothing but cowardice. Trump didn't want to take the responsibility for shutting the economy down but he wants the credit for opening the country back up. Funny that all our supposed States Rights right wingers now want the federal government to dictate what the states do.

Trump has expanded executive overreach and more importantly, has tried to remove any oversight, which is the exact behavior of someone who wants to be a dictator, not a president. And the RWCJ is lining up behind him because they are no longer a political party, but just a cult and they have anointed Trump as Jesus 2.0, just without the morality, compassion or ethics. It's sad and pathetic.

Trump dismantled parts of our government, put in place people driven by loyalty as opposed to competence and then blamed it on everyone else when his administration mishandled the response to this pandemic.

Watching this unfold is interesting to say the least and there are some serious implications for this nation going forward.

The way the fight is unfolding is whether the president or the various governors/mayors have precedence regarding shut down orders etc. I think the argument should be reframed to "do any of them have the authority to suspend the Constitution?"

So far a fearful populace has been cowed into subservience and fear is a powerful tool to use to cow a citizenry. So far it's been effective. Short of a formal declaration of war I can find no such sanction of these powers anywhere in the Constitution.

I, and others, have continually warned the leftists of the danger of their supporting their chosen politicians of in the pursuit of extra-constitutional powers. That eventually a politician not of their choosing would be in a position to wield those same powers. The decision we as a nation make going forward couldn't be clearer. It's not which politician we are going to allow to use those powers, it's are we going to allow ANY politician to use those powers?

I've noticed some state Governors have elected to shut down churches and ticket or arrest those attending as if they never took an oath to uphold the Constitution. The SCOTUS has ruled it is incumbent on the states through the principle of incorporation to enforce the First Amendment and the Bill of Rights.

By the time WHO actually got around to admitting that the virus was spreading (Jan. 20th) it was already here. On Jan. 29th the Covid Task Force was formed and on the 30th travel from China was shut down.
