"Shayde"

She had been living on the streets and fighting since she was 13. She was good at it... Could take down bigger tougher opponents than anyone could believe. When she turned 16 she was noticed by by a fight pit owner who took her in and groomed her into a champion and now at 20 she was nearly unbeatable. He had moved her to the "top rank pits" where businessmen and other people of means placed bets and drank. Beat up and bruised though she did manage to catch the eye of some young man who saw past it all and saw the passion and fire in her eyes and soul as she fought.

~~~~~~~
The club owner nodded to all of his wealthy high profile and high money guests walking in. Greeting them each personally and taking fighter requests if they had any. So far most want to see young Shayde fight. He quickly took off to inform her as the last of his guests took their seats.
Shayde... your up first... fighting against Jei... you two get out there and make it good.
~~~~~
The announcer called out that Shayde was entering the pit and was set to fight Jei. Jei walked out as a muscle mountain of an Islander clearly been fighting all his life. They squared off as she waited for him to charge and then using his force to drive him into the ground and use the back of his head like a springboard and the fight was off and running.

He watched her in the pit. Her bruised body and everything on the surface, but there was something beneath it all. A grace in the way she moved. Everyone else was here for the sheer sport. He was here looking at her for more than what she herself knew. He had been coming everytime she fought. He watched all her fights. But not why everyone else did. He was waiting for the right time....the right time to get her away from this chaotic life. Now was not the time as the fight began. She would win. She always did.

The fight with Jei was a little brutal but she did manage to pull off a win standing with one foot on the big mans chest. She staggered back to the dressing room and sat back waiting for her next fight. Eyes closed as she took a deep breath that her ribs immediately and very bluntly made her regret doing as she moved to grab a bottle of water from the table stocked for the fighters.

No one knew her real name and she honestly couldn't remember it. She was called Shayde, had been for several years though she could not remember why.

He made his way gently away from the fight area as he overheard the managers talking about the next fight. They were going to rig it so that she was going to lose. They had doped the water in the locked room so she would be not her usual self.
He knew this wasn't the right time but he had no choice and made his way to the locker area. He paused as he saw her...drinking her drugged water. Sweat pouring off her youtfhful broken body. This is not going to happen to you he thought.
He rushed in and quickly hit her as gently as he could but he had to knock her out so he could carry her..he knew she wouldn't go quietly. He raced out of the locker room, out of the building and put her into the car. Just to be same he restrained her gently with plastic restraints in case she woke and tried to do something stupid. He drove away and took her to his country home. Where the healing would begin.

She knew she was fighting again without her usual two fight wait time... No big the little pansy chump they had her going up against couldn't win even if his partner took a dive. Easy money too. win or lose it was going to put 12 grand in her hands that night. She stood there drinking the bottled water slamming it back pretty fast her attention surprisingly let him get in close enough unseen. The hit would not have put her out for long but she had drank enough of the water that she slept heavily for a long while. Not awaking till well after she was in the house.

He placed her in the bedroom in the king sized bed. Hopefully she wouldn't run.
He waited patiently for her to awake and had on hand a large container of water and some asprin in case she had a headache. He waited patiently. Thinking, who was this fallen angel? How did she end up in the fight ring..how did she fall?
If she didn't have family left, which she probably didn't, he would do what would be needed to bring her back.

She looked around... she had been kidnapped by other pit owners and crazed fans before or ministers who thought they could "save" her for their own uses.

Who the hell are ya and whats the game this time?

He smiled simply.
"No game this time. How are you feeling? The drug they slipped you to make you lose that last fight must have given you a nasty headache." He said quietly.
"As for who I am, well that is a long and complicated story not to be fully explained now. My name is Gerard. And what is your name? Not your fighter name, your real name?"

Shayde is the only name I know... don't even really remember how I got it either...

She sat there taking a cig out of the pack in her bandanna on her arm checking her pack for a lighter she sat up and watched him though sitting up like that she did feel a little bit of a headache starting to overtake her mind.

"You know smoking will kill you right?" Gerard said gently. He nodded to the water and fruit. "You should get hydrated and eat. You must be thirsty and hungry. Shayde? And you don't remember how you got it? How does that happen? A person must remember how they got their name. Or know how they got it. "He saw the cuts and bruises on her. "Really you should patch yourself up. You'll be staying for a while here. You won't be fighting anytime soon."

She shrugged what little I do remember don't matter anyways I am a pit fighter thats what I do thats how I survive.

She looked at the food and water and raised a brow distrusting but hunger was biting at her as she bit her lip.

He saw her eye the food. "Here you eat, you look famished. I'll get your cuts." He gently and slowly approached her and sat next to her on the bed. He reached for some cleaner and q-tips and gently started cleaning her wounds that he could reach on her shoulder and back.

Why you doing this?

She grabbed a pear and began eating as if she had not eat in days... she had of course but with all the working out and fighting she does she burns through everything.

Whats in it for you?

He gently applied small band aids to all her cuts he could get to without interfering with her eating.
"why am i doing this?" he said gently returning the first aid kit onto the top of the desk and then sat again with an element of grace and poise.
"Not sure yet. redemption maybe, I dunno. Time will tell. I apologize in advance I had meant to talk to you before I brought you here and meant for you to even do it willingly but the manager forced my hand as you would have probably been killed in that last fight. You were becoming too good you see and they were going to bet against you and take everyones money. I brought you here to be away from that environment and into this one. A place where there is no fighting. There is no aggression. There are lots of things in my house. But those are not."

He smiled as she enjoyed the fruit.

Even messed up I could have taken that little punk...

She raised a brow though at his words of him doing this for redemption...

Redemption from what?

"That is going to be told over a nice long meal. A proper meal. After you've rested properly in this here bed. Have had a shower, cleaned up and maybe tomorrow we'll have a chance to talk. In the meantime, the bathroom attached to your room has everything you'll need. Have a good night and see you in the morning."
He closed her door and went to the study to read. he couldn't sleep and didn't need to.
He pleasantly enjoyed Hamlet by Shakespeare. He loved some good ol' drama.

She finished eating the fruit and went and got cleaned up and quickly fell into a deep dreamless peaceful long sleep. Curled deep in the covers of the bed she slept peacefully well into the next day used to sleeping away half the day from fighting in the pits.

He knew she was going to sleep a long time, but this was more than expected. But he wouldn't disturb her. When she awoke, he would start the meal then. Everything was prepared in the fridge and the kitchen. Just needed to cook it. He continued to finish Hamlet. Just at the end where he dies. He looked down and he had Dune by Frank Hebert next. Didn't really know why but he was going to start another sci fi marathon with his library. He had been into a classics rut for....was it 6 months?

She didn't have anything to change into so she tossed back on her tshirt and jeans leaving off her boots for now as she wandered around trying to find her way to her strange host. She still held her ribs a little still feeling the massive punches from her opponent the night before.

He was reading part of Dune when she walked by and was holding her ribs still. And her clothes were still the same.
"Oh my, that doesn't look right for a nice meal. Sorry I should have left you some clothing I have for guests. Follow me."
He lead her to a room filled with women's clothing that was unique in every way. It was like she stepped into a time machine. There were fashions from the 1800's to now. What she didn't know was there was a whole storage vault under them that had more. But she would probably find out.
"here" He said find something you like and meet me in the library. Then we'll eat."

She watched him for a moment unsure about all of this but then went to look through the clothes. Opting for a pair of black jeans that were a tiny bit big on her so and a t shirt. She had looked at the dresses and stuff and shied away from them but she was not sure why.

Heading back to where she ran across him last she stood there still on edge about all of this. Worried cause if she didn't fight she didn't get paid she didn't get paid she didn't survive long.

“Ah. I see you’ve…”He looked at what she chose and became slightly saddened…this is going to be rough. “..changed.” He finished. “Let’s eat.”
He worked on dinner as she sat waiting. It didn’t take too long to prepare the elegant stir fry as it was quick food but nutritious and full of protein. Which he knew her body would need. He placed the two plates at the settings on the table and ushered her to sit. Pouring two glasses of water and leaving the jug between them. He sat opposite her. The table not being large. But enough to seat 4. 2 people had lots of space.
“Cheers. Enjoy” He said as he began eating.
“I will tell you all after dinner.” He said smoothly.

She quickly began eating as if nearly still starved. She just nodded quickly taking a big drink of the water.

Okay...

She watched him from time to time still distrusting of what was happening to her.

Will need to get back to Franko and the Fights as soon as possible... gotta make money some how.

He saw her drink the water and eat in record time. Wow. her body really needed that.
"Hope you enjoyed it."
She finished well before he did.
He took his time. enjoyed every bite. Savoring the food. Taking his time. Almost losing himself in the food.
He continued eating not caring she was done. He was almost displaying himself enjoying the meal.

She nodded and sat there watching him brow raised at all of this still distrusting of the situation.

SO whats the deal I live here or something and fight in some other pit now?
