Protect Me (CLOSED)

Chuckling she walked with him off staged Blushing at his comment. "Let's get back to the hotel and relax til dinner." She cooed as she walked him out. The walk to the limo was uneventful. Just the way she liked it. It was nice helping kids, she felt like they had made a difference. Well at least he had. She had just been there as back up. "That speech... was great sir." She said softly as she opened the door her smiled larger than it had been for the past few days.

Stepping into the limo she leaned back stretching for a moment before sighing. It would be nice to be out of her suit and into something more comfortable. "I'll need to find my dress....." She mumbled off hand.

"Thank you" Isaid what in regards to her compliment about my speech "I just made it up as I went then went in my head I really hated doing that because I always worry though that I would stumble on some words they would be laughing at me". As we bounced around in the limo I looked at her and that being smile it was such a rare occurrence that I actually had to point it out. "When you find that dress I would really like to see you in it before we leave I replied again" I was not really meant to be some form of the enticement I just really wanted to see her in something different be able to lay her hair down as it is a put it. We had been on the road so much that felt I was going to be worn out by the end of the year and I would have no drive to continue on with this profession.

"I guess that also means I'll have to find my own suit" I replied looking at my diamond cufflinks "This simply will not do for where we're going then" I gave her a not so subtle wink still though do you think bhalo will enjoy knowing that you and I are going to have some fun together? I know it is really going to stick in his cross and afterwards you'll be asking her a million questions and never being satisfied with the answers but that's the way it was going to be.

Smiling she nodded, "don't worry, you'll be the first to see it." she cooed before sighing when the limo came to a stop. "Ballou will just have to deal. I'm tired of his advances anyway. " She mumbled before stepping out and letting him out as well. "I'll come to your room when I'm ready. Our rooms connect on this trip. Thankfully I was able to get us the connecting to keep security down. If anything goes wrong I'm just a door away."

Following him up she made sure that he had everything before she took her leave. She stood in her own room her head spinning as she stared at her suitcases. Taking a deep breath she let her hair down and stepped into the bathroom. Time to make herself look like a woman again.

"You always think that far ahead" I smiled at her before she went off into her room with the door closed I went to my suitcase and put it on the bed and opened it to find out what was inside it. My memory was fuzzy but taking out the neatly folded shirts and pants I began to assemble neat little Ensemble. Most of the stuff I had was for formal occasions black shoes black slacks black shirt white undershirt and that sort of thing. All this was very drab. I needed something with color something that would make me stand out and not be so tight knit informal. Going to the full length mirror on the back of the door I carefully took of the cufflings and set them on the counter then unbuttoned my shirt and let the jacket fall off and cast it onto the bed. Looking myself over I have to meet figure I was not we'll build but I need to figure lean and trim what the hard face in a little bit of us grown yet holding on to my chin with my right hand I said to myself this has to go I like to keep myself smooth an appearance. The first single goal would be the hair and then I will put together the rest of my clothing for tonight. I was not expecting much just a chance a few hours to go out hang loose for a while have a few drinks with some with a really good friend and be able to talk about something besides where are we going and about security threats.

Stepping out of the bathroom half an hour later she stood in front of the mirror her towel tight around her body. Her hair was falling in waves around her face, her cheeks were a soft pink and her eyelashes now stood out slightly with the makeup. She looked like a woman, not like a bodyguard. Biting her pink lips she wondered if she could do this.. Swallowing hard she looked to her suitcases.

She didn't remember the dress fitting so snug. Running her fingers over the smooth red material along her sides and stomach she turned, inspecting her reflection. She looked amazing, even if the dress was a little tighter than she would have liked. She had a nice figure. She had the hourglass many women wanted, she had soft muscles along her arms and back, her skin was flawless minus a few scars from old injuries when things had gotten out of hand on the job but even then she was beautiful. At least men had said she was.

Stepping into her shoes she stepped to the door slowly. She wore red heels, though they weren't high they did seem high enough to give her a few inches. knocking on the door she waited for him to say he was ready. For some reason she was nervous.

Jumping into the shower I clensed myself as best as I could, using the razor to leave a smooth face and looked myself in the mirror combing my hair and adding cologne. I was nervous to say the least. There had been diplomatic missions to North Korea where I was less nervous than this. With a towel wrapped around my waist I emerged from the bathroom to the bed and began to lift and comb through everything that I had until I found the red button up shirt that was perfect.

This will have to do. Assembling my clothes in front of the full length mirror I looked myself over adding deordorent as I went and styled myself. I hadn't dressed like this in years and giving a once over again I said, "Now I just look silly" but there was a knock on the interconnecting door. "Just a second" I replied going over to it and buttoning up my cuffs. Opening the door my heart skipped a beat, "Theresa, you look ravishing," though it took a me a moment for me to connect that it was her because she looked so different with the long flowing red gown, "Where did you find that?"

A blush filled her face as she felt his eyes slide over her quickly. Smiling slightly she did a small spin. "College..." She chuckled before looking him over as well. "I don't remember it fitting so tight back then though." Her voice was soft as she timidly reached out. "Your cuffs... Their crooked." she chuckled, fixing them with a tenderness she didn't know she could muster before looking him over once more. "You look great sir. Every woman there will want to dance with you."

Straightening she nodded with a grin. "Ready to go to dinner? My team should already be there. Ballou will be standing guard at your door all night so it will look like you are in your room still." She thought of Ballou then, how he had tried so hard to get her out of her uniform., to know what she really looked like. Tonight would be the first time anyone had seen her out of uniform. She was definitely nervous.

"Thank you" nodding after helping me with my cuffs, "Very well then, but first thing's first," I held up a hand, "Don't call me 'sir' while we're out there, and leave the security stuff to Ballou" chuckling a bit, "You need to leave all of that at the door. Remember, Theresa, we're going out to have some fun, not as security and diplomat, but as two friends. Understand? Besides, you look great in that dress. Men will be drooling in their beers looking at you."

She had adjusted my cuffs and after putting my wallet inside my pocket I gave myself a once over and sighed, "Alright then, let's get going" and opened the door for her. As she went I wondered if she was carrying a concealed weapon and wondered where she was going to put it. Dinner will be very filling now that we didn't have a schedule to keep. "I'm buying this one" I laughed.

She was about to protest but decided against it. "Alright but just for tonight." Smiling she stepped out into the hall with him, slipping a piece of hair behind her ear as Ballou stood next to the door. Her face flushed as she felt his eyes wander before stopping on her own. She could see the recognition flash in his eyes as she took his arm as she had seen women do.

She quickly realized that she had never truly gone out before. She had been to on night stands and to horrid dates but never... out. "So where are going tonight?" It felt weird not to have a schedule but it was nice at the same time. "You get to decide it all tonight. I'm just along for the ride." with a small chuckle she was already feeling herself relax.

"We're going to a little Italian restaurant that I know is in the area" I replied "it is a small one so it will be probably less attention that we are there, however it is of the upper crust I did not like to skip fine dining". Looking over at Ballou as we went further down in the elevator I couldn't help but wonder all the things that he was thinking as he looked at her in that brilliant red dress. It was something that he would only seen the movies and he was stopping himself I'm saying anything because she was clamping down on his bottom lip with enough force that I thought he would bleed. When the elevator doors slid open I was the first one to step out and moved to the side so that she can come out as well and then we were summoned to the limo and I held the door open for her so she will be the first one inside this time. Just before I can get inside however Ballou stopped me by reaching out and touching me on the forearm, leaned in, and whispered "sir, whatever you do do not let this slip out of your grasp" and I look at him with a inquisitive look before he walked away and climbed inside the front passenger seat. Stepping inside myself and closing the door the limo driver roll forward.

She looked down at her feet with a shyness she had never shown before as they stood in the elevator. Her mind was a whirl wind of thoughts as they stood in silence. She hoped she could make it a memorable night for him. He deserved a good night. When they made it to the limo she smiled whispering a thank you before sliding in carefully, trying to be elegant with her dress and not to reveal anything as she did.

For the first. time since her employment she did not sit in her seat across from him. Instead she sat in the seat next to his her eyes in her lap as he began to climb in. When he sat down she looked at him, smiling cutely, her eyes lighting up as she did. "I hope we can have a good night. Thunk Ballou is mad he can't join in the fun." She teased before lightly holding her hands in her lap. She had no idea how to act around him. Inside she was a nervous wreck. She wanted to be what he wanted his date to be. She worried she wouldn't be interesting enough for him. What if he got bored. Taking a deep breath she looked back down at her hands as the limo. made its way towards the restaurant.

She look nervous, more nervous than I've ever seen her before. I guess it was because what we were doing right now and she looked down at her hands as we drove away. I leaned in and whisper to her "you just need to relax, Theresa. all you need to do is just relax. do not worry about my security. just remember to have a good time"

It was easier said than done I was nervous myself for the different reason as we left the garage I looked at my watch and realized we still had about another hour before it reached dusk and then we can be able to go to the club. I did not reach her and I did not touch ur I feel that at this moment in time it was not proper maybe later but I had to wait for the right moment but my eyes did grace for figure up close she smelled of fragrance and she looks clean course that could have been because at this is the most skin I've ever manage to see over.

I wonder what kind of things we would talk about what we were having dinner. Because we've been together for so long travel together work together and done all kinds of other things together I wonder if there was anything else that we could actually talk about. She knew what I did and I know what she did with her had to be something else between us know something that we both liked or wanted to do in our lives. We had gone over before that she wanted to have children but her career how is gotten in the way as had mine but perhaps there was a way to work around that where to find something else much more manageable. But I think about my career this was something I enjoy doing but I would enjoy less stress in my life. Tell me, my dear, when was the last time you actually had a dance with someone?"

She heard him whisper, felt his breath against her ear as he did. For some reason it brought a smile to her lips. Looking at him she smiled, seeming relax before nodding. "Alright. I guess I'm just not used to being of duty." She laughed. Running slender fingers through her hair she shifted slightly to slide on leg over the other. "Dancing... Probably...." She stopped as she thought about it. It had been a long time. Heck it had been college since the last time she wore a dress. Thinking hard on the question she remembered. "My friends wedding four years ago." She said sweetly. "I went with this guy I had met in college... he stepped on my feet all night."

She chuckled at the memory, remembering the way he had looked, she had looked different then too. She had died her hair red, had cut it short and had worned an olive colored dress. She had worn roses in her hair with rose perfume. Looking down at herself she realized how she had changed The rose had been replaced my lilac perfume, her short hair now he natural strawberry blonde and much linger than the pixie cut she had worn. Her taste in clothes was different. She no longer needed to try and be different. She was happy with who she was. Looking back to him she smiled brighter than before, determined to make him relax as well. "What about you? when was the last time you danced with someone?"

"I've danced during socials" I replied, "but that's not the same. The last time I danced with someone was probably college as well," then I bit my lower lip slightly, "That's just it. I danced because I hadn't danced at all that night. It was just before graduation, and I don't remember who it was with. When the music ended she just said, 'Thank you' and disappeared, but I didn't step on her shoes" Shaking my head to get rid of those memories I flicked my eyes over at her and her cheeks were slightly blushing and her lips held tight. She was nervous. I reached over and touched the back of her hand with my right hand to give her a bit of reassurance. "It's alright, Theresa. Hopefully, tonight we will be able to make different, better memories."

Ballou called back that we were ten minutes away from the restaurant on account of the traffic. That was fine by me because it meant more private time with her. I wasn't going be like a typical high school guy and throw an arm around her and pull her close. I knew what she was capable of, she would break my arm. This wasn't suppose to be a romantic date though people that looked at us might think differently.

"Well I hope you'll be able to remember me." She teased hoping to break the tension. She felt her heart skip as he brushed her hand with his. Looking down at his hand she bit her lip for a moment before composing herself again. zthey had touched before. She had been on top of him before in the attempt to keep him from falling debris. She had kept him safe but the touch was different, it seemed intimate in a way. Taking a deep breath. "I'm glad I won't have to worry about sore toes tomorrow. I can't imagine you are a wonderful dancer." She whispered.

Hearing Ballou she glanced to the Window he spoke through before smoothing her dress. "I feel a little out of place. I'm sorry... I don't really..." Blushing she looked back at him. "It's easy to be rough when it's your job but... I think I've forgotten how to be a lady..." she laughed slightly before looking into his warms eyes. "You'll have to excuse me... if I don't get this all right tonight..." She was soon playing with the bottom of her dress. "My foster mom used to always say a lady is always quiet... and always graceful. She's never hard and never outspoken." With a small laugh she looked out the Window across from them. "If she were to see me now she'd be so shocked she's probably have a heart attack. "

"I never said I was a wonderful dancer" flashing a smile, "I just said I didn't step on her toes". When she began looking out the window after speaking of her foster mother it made me think of my own mother. She had a whole different concept on how a lady or a woman was suppose to do. "I beg to differ," I said to gain her attention, "My mother always said that there is no reason for a woman to keep her mouth shut. She said that anyone has the right to speak their mind and to do as they please, so long as they do not cause harm to anyone else, mind you," holding up a slender finger, "She also said that any person is responsible for themselves, that's why I put it in my speech back at the gym." It was something I firmly believed. It was not the same as what Theresa's mother was and I didn't say she was wrong, it was just a different frame of mind.

"I do not think that she'll have a heart attack. I bet she'll be pleasantly surprised that you've changed yourself to what you are now," touching her hand once again this time placing my palm over hers and giving a slight squeeze to reassure her.

Looking at him a small smile touched her lips. "I like your mom better." She teased thinking back to the woman who had played mother. She thought about his words before feeling his hand. Turning her hand over she squeezed his hand back with a nod. "Maybe. But thank you. You changed those kids lives today. Maybe not all of them... but some of them. There was at least one boy in the audience that I know was changed by your speech." She said thinking back to the child she had seen.

"You're special... a true one of a kind. Not many people can do your job... and of the few that can no one can touch as many people as you. You can relate to so many people in so many positions. It helps them to trust you. And they do. Moments into talking you have to rooms attention and everyone's trust. I've never seen anyone like you before.... and I know I never will again. " looking to him she grinned before feeling the limo stop.

" We must be here... " she said softly hearing Ballou exit the car. It was only a few moments before the door opened and she could see the small restaurant.

"You would have loved my mother" I replied "she was a wonderful woman." The way she said that it sounded much like a compliment as also a bit of disappointment in your voice. I did not be myself with anyone special, view myself as just someone trying to do his job to make the world a better place I did not expect to be praised for what she took her position with me as a bit of pride. And I was thankful for her years of service. She had saved me more times than I can count and she was always looking after me someone I guess you could say was like an older sister that I never had someone that was always there when to push away the bullies and make sure I did did my job.

Indeed we did arrived at our destination and when the limo came to a stop I open the door and stepped out first and help the door open for her like a good gentleman should. My father did not raise me to be much like a gentleman holding the doors open and all the other night CDs that came with it he said he told me to be my own man but that doesn't mean I had to be neglectful. When I stepped outside it was a cool guess the wind blew through my shirt and send a shiver up my spine. Looking about the streets were half full with traffic at a near standstill. I'm glad we got here at well I had a bit before we were stuck in there for hours. Flicking my eyes towards the restaurant there was a man a door waiting to take a stand this was the place and it. There were some people already inside but it was not packed. Good, that meant that we would be like get herself a nice table well away from everyone else a few moments in private. "This is it like" I said with a smile "this is the place I've told you about."

Slowly stepping out of the limo the gust of wind blew her hair and sent goose bumps along her arms. Looking to the restaurant she smiled sliding her hair behind her ear. "It looks nice." She cooed walking with him towards the door. she was smoothing her dress when they got to the door. She heard the limo go to park and could her Ballou walking behind us though he wasn't on top of us.

"This amazing and it smells delicious. " She complimented before they stepped inside. She felt like royalty at that moment, like a princess with her prince. She would never say admit it but she cared for him in a way she had never cared for someone. She enjoyed spending time with him and this was no exception. She could feel the eyes on her butchers were on him. On his strong jaw and his broad chest. He looked very handsome tonight and she was happy to be able to spend time with him.

The aroma of simmering meat and pastas greeted us as we stepped inside. Indeed it was delicious as we were let to a table well away from everyone else. I held out the chair for her to sit down and scooted her in then went around to mine and sat down. She looked sensual with that fine figure and long flowing dress. Out of the corner of my eye I could see other men looking our way and couldn't help but smile. Theresa was beautiful and very strong. It took a lot to dampen her spirits and she always hung in there. Though I have never said to her before but I trusted her with my life. There were many questions I wanted to ask her, but felt that it wasn't my place to, but after all of our 'adventures' together I felt that I trusted her with my life regardless of where we went. Looking back, I don't think I told her that when the UN began shuffling their security teams I requested that Theresa stay on mine.

Ballou was hanging back and keeping his eyes on us and whispering occasionally into his cuff for status checks. The waiter came by and gave us both a menu and asked us what we would like to drink from the wine list. "Remember," I said to her, "I'm paying for this."

She blushed as he pulled out her chair for her. No one had ever done that for her before. Carefully sitting she thanked him before he walked to his own chair. Smiling across the table at him she ignored the glances of other men. She didn't care about them. She had so many questions herself but she felt it wasn't her place to pry so instead she glanced around the restaurant taking I the scenery before her eyes fell back on him, noting the many women that were glancing his way. As the waitress came she took the menu graciously before looking at the wine list. Hearing his comment she chuckled. "Can I a glass of the Marlow please." she said quietly before handing him the wine list as well. She would only drink one glass as wine always had an affect on her.

"Thank you for inviting me... and for all of this. " she said sweetly glancing over the menu. She wasn't a picky eater nor was she one to eat a lot. Deciding on something simple she placed her menu down. She could think of the women she had worked with in the past. They were all snobby. Having come from rich families. She couldn't imagine them in her situation. They would most likely take advantage of his kindness.

"It's my pleasure" I replied lowering my menu down just a little bit to look at her and then when the waitress asked to take my order I asked for a Marlow, something that I had not tasted in a long time. "like I said, I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror knowing that you were spending some time alone and for no good reason."

It was the honest truth I have to be honest with her and though I felt there was a good bond between us I did not know if there was anything deeper than that we are both professional in our jobs and we both need to do our duties however I guess the dry spell for the two of us had to sort of adverse effect on us and we look at each other with smiles on our faces and I reached out across the table and let me put my hand on top offers and give a gentle squeeze.

Smiling she caught him glancing at her and felt her heart beat a little faster. It had been quite a while since a man had looked at her, besides Ballou but he looked at anything that he could. His touch was welcome as they say together. "Well thank you just the same It's nice to be out." She murmured before running her thumb along the back of his hand. "what are you going to get?" She asked as she crossed one leg over the other under the table, feeling her dress slide slightly along her legs.

She could feel g the glances and she shrugged them off. "Are you happy to be able to get out about without having to worry about politics and peace? even if it's just for the night?" She was curious. Was this job even possible to forget for a night or did it always stick with you.

"I will have the fettuccine Alfredo" I said and closed my menu and handed it to the waitress who collected them and departed to fulfill the orders. With my hand still on her's. Answer her question my brow buckled and my head dipped slightly affirmatively, "Indeed. I don't like having to worry about some one elses' problems, despite the many incidents that have ensued. "I...or we...don't have to worry about anything, at least just for the night," lips pulling back into a beaming smile before I withdrew my hand and slid it back along the table and adjusted myself in my seat.

"How about yourself?" I asked, "How do you feel?" though in looking at her, though elegant in that dress she appeared to be nervous, more nervous than I. I was taught to keep myself calm in social situations as she was more inclined to keep her head on a swivel.

Smiling she looked to the waitress. "I'll have the home made lasagna please." she cooed before handing back her own menu and looking back to him. "I'm alright... I'm a little antsy though, I won't lie. I'm not used to being looked after. I'm more used to being the protector." She laughed. "When you work as security you start to look at things differently. Every shadow is a weak spot and such." she then placed her hands in her lap calmly. She was slowly becoming more. comfortable as time went in.

"I don't k ow why I worry so much. We have Ballou watching our backs. Although I can't speak highly of his character I can speak highly of his work ethic. I would put my life in his hands if I had to. He takes his job very seriously. That's why I put him in second command. " Smiling she looked at her glass of wine. Taking it in hand she held it up slightly. " To a stress free night filled with friendship and memories. " she toasted sweetly.
