PSA: Gary Johnson announced his candidacy for President

Article from The New Yorker

Since Gary Johnson and Bill Weld have broken the double digit barrier in four party polling, and are now into 13% territory, I thought his thread deserved a post.

This is an excerpt from a wordy New Yorker article-

But Johnson isn’t reflexively against all government. He supports the Environmental Protection Agency, arguing that policing polluters is a proper function of the government. As governor of New Mexico, he aggressively used the power of the state to force Molycorp, a large mining corporation, to clean up a contaminated site. He eventually allowed the E.P.A. to declare the area a Superfund site, turning the issue over to the federal government, which had more resources to go after the company. “The government exists to protect us from harm, and that pollution is harm,” Johnson said. “Libertarians would say, ‘You and I have the ability to sue Molycorp. We can bring them to bear from a private standpoint.’ But the reality? You can’t.”

Gary Johnson certainly makes more sense that ether of the two leading candidates. By any standard, he's also at least as qualified as either of them. He should participate in the presidential debates this year. He won't, because the major candidates are afraid the voters might have attacks of intelligence.

Well for a start, balancing the federal budget (or attempting to by spending cuts) will cause a recession and throw millions out of work.

Yep, mass poverty, starvation and rapid social decay.

The libertarian nirvana.

BECAUSE LIBERDEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, mass poverty, starvation and rapid social decay.

Nah, most would go get real jobs and the rest would have to be more honest about their welfare lifestyles.

The libertarian nirvana.

BECAUSE LIBERDEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also a socialist paradise! Because if one person is a shit bag we must degrade everyone else to make them feel better about it. ;)

‘It was started basically as a scam’

The Astro-Turf Roots of the "Libertarian Party"

With the major party candidates’ negative ratings at historic highs, millions of Americans are looking to third-party candidates, with libertarian Gary Johnson polling highest among third-party candidates currently. But do libertarians and progressives really see eye to eye on the big issues, as Johnson would like Bernie Sanders supporters to think?

According to Thom Hartmann, not at all.

“The Libertarian Party was started basically as a scam, as a front group for big business in the United States and very wealthy people,” Hartmann begins, “and, you know, big business doesn’t care if gay people get married, they don’t care if people smoke pot. They’ll give you the social issues, but… the bottom line for the Libertarian Party on every issue—whether it’s Medicare, Social Security, public roads…—[is] let’s privatize [them or]… do away [with them].”

Hartmann gives some examples of where billionaire libertarians would say, “Let’s privatize all the public roads, let’s do away with public libraries, let’s take any kind of function the government can do for the public good” and make it work for selfish reasons. “The idea is, there is no such thing as the public good; there’s only the good for us billionaires, and so if we can’t figure out a way to make a buck out of something, then then we shouldn’t do it,” Hartmann says.

So Tea Party & Libertarians, are astro-turfed distractions of the Dark Lords!

But do libertarians and progressives really see eye to eye on the big issues, as Johnson would like Bernie Sanders supporters to think?

Perhaps not, but Gary Johnson and Bernie Sanders have a high degree of agreement. Many of his supporters have joined the Johnson movement. You've probably read that Gary says he agrees 74% with Bernie on " I side with". I myself agree with Gary 90 something % and find I agreed with Bernie about 70%.

Things like supporting the entire Bill of Rights, global warming is real, Crony Capitalism is a problem, standing against discrimination, women's right to choose, changing our approach to the drug problem from warfare to wellness, non-interventionist foreign policy, concern for Millennials, there's a lot of common ground.

Beyond that, a lot of voters are candidate, rather than issue oriented. We recognize the candor and sincerity of these two, and can respect their integrity , even when we oppose their position.

So Tea Party & Libertarians, are astro-turfed distractions of the Dark Lords!

Not just the dark lords....but those who are in business, business that is not dependent upon a government contract/protection.

If you'r not working for the government about 98% of everything the government does fucking sucks and serves no purpose except to make life unnecessarily difficult and or cost you money. All because some douche nozzle hundreds or thousands of miles away has decided they know how to run your business and spend your money better than you do.

Fuck you too sweetheart.

are you always this angry? have you been assigned to anger management by the count? I mean, most of you liberals are 5150. Maybe you liberals are insane due to the fact that you are unfit to earn your own money?

No Bernie supporters should be considering voting libertarian. They are an anathema to progressive ideals.

While Gary Johnson and Bill Weld won't be in the first debates, they will be on "60 Minutes" on CBS tonight at 7:30pm EST and 7pm PST.

Gary Johnson 4 U.S. President

Gary doesn’t give up. Ever.
• He turned a one-man handyman operation into the state's largest
construction company.
• As Governor, he was elected against the odds, and then re-elected.
• He stopped overspending by vetoing more spending bills than any other
Governor.
• He is an accomplished triathlete who has climbed the highest peak on each
of the 7 continents.
• He placed third in the 2012 Presidential race with the highest number of
votes for a Libertarian candidate in history.

Gary wants good government...
• Cut taxes and balance the budget.
• Allow the private sector to create jobs.
• Term Limits for the US Congress.
• A government that adheres to its Constitutional limits.
• Always protect our Personal Freedom.
• An Immigration policy that is fair and promotes jobs.
• A government that doesn't spy without warrants or due process.
• Gary supports our troops and wants a strong and smart defense that works within budget constraints.

Great! Believe me, I would go for Gary Johnson, but then if I voted him, Donald Trump would easily win the upcoming elections; he's beginning to beat out Hillary Clinton more and more.

He's going to create jobs AND run a fiscal balance?

He's a magician that can defy mathematics.

Like all libertoonians say they can.
