It’s seems my rating scores are not moving. I’ve hard at least a dozen confirmed 5***** ratings that have not been added. I allow ratings and comments but neither work. Last week I had over 1000 reads across my portfolio and not one rating went up or down

I wish some could explain the rating system on Lit to me! How can a story with over 5,800 reads and a rating of 4.45 from 11 votes reduce to 4.33 from 12 votes and a similar number of reads!! The math doesn't add up

A score of 4.45/11 means a total of 49 stars from those 11 votes - for example five times 5⭐ and six times 4⭐, or nine times 5⭐ and two times 2⭐. A score of 4.33/12 means 52 stars from those 12 votes. In other words, that 12th vote was the difference between 52 and 49, i.e. 3⭐.

There's very little correlation between reads (or clicks) and votes.

only about 1% of the readers leave a rating. I usually get four or five stars, but the last 6-8 months I have noticed that within the first few days after publishing, I get a one-star or two. If I read a story that is ok written, but the theme and the characters give me the creeps, I don't leave a bad rating; I could have read the tags or chosen another category. Seems we have different perceptions of the rating system, or we have trolls ...

Yes, there are people who will give low scores as a story leaves the gate. The site conducts a sweep process during Contests that usually gets rid of such votes, if they're deemed improper (using criteria the site doesn't disclose, for obvious reasons). It's not new behaviour, been happening for years.
