Question for married persons

I wore mine for the longest time. Then when he and I had problems, and I realized how messed up our marriage was......I found an excuse to get it cut off. A diamond popped out.....it might have had a little help.

After I got it resized and fixed, I wore it for a while..then I kept it on the window sill by the sink. I went to my best friend's over NYE.....and when I came back, it was gone. He took it...I did not ask him where it was...b/c it was not the first time he has played that game.

I wonder about it, but I bet he has forgotten where he put it.

I have his in my little jewelry bag....he has worn it maybe a year....total. We've been married for 11.

I've never hidden the fact that I'm married., though.

Despite not having a culture of wedding rings, I actually wear one... I didn't for the longest time, but also never hid the fact that I was married.

I'm not much into wearing such explicit symbols, particularly one that reflects such a messed up institution - but, hey, that's just me! :)

I'm in a similar situation. I work in a reasonably dangerous profession so I don't wear it when I work. I came home from a job a few months ago and couldn't find it. Needless to say, I wasn't that worried.

When I was in shop class in 8th grade, they showed us a picture of a guy who had worn a wedding ring and tore all the skin off his finger when he fell and got it caught on a shelf or something. So ladies, hubby might be taking his wedding ring off for safety if he has a job with a lot of machinery or manual labor, not just an excuse. :)

I'm a bachelor, so no wedding ring for me. But, I've always found them appealing for some reason.

Yes both me and hubby wear wedding bands and I wear an angagement ring. We always wear Claddagh rings for our tenth anniversary.

No, I do not wear my wedding ring. When we got our rings, I asked the guy at the store for "the cheapest gold colored pos ring he had." I have always been active in mechaincs, plumbing, electrical type work. There was NO WAY I was wearing it. When we would go out for the evening, I would ask "Where is my ring?" and put it on.

Last I knew, wife was wearing it parttime on her thumb. I haven't had it on now for several years.

No, but I stopped wearing mine shortly after getting married. I just don't like jewelry though... It had nothing to do with my feelings about being married.

I knew of an electrician who was electrocuted because his wedding band wore a hole thru his protective gloves and one day it made contact with a high tension wire.

I always put mine on when I was done tho.

Hubby's an electrician and doesn't wear his to work for this very reason - no sense taking a chance - but he wears it all the time otherwise. I always wear mine.

Ours is an open marriage, so I do not wear a wedding band.
Interestingly enough he does wear his.

I don't wear mine and my wife rarely does. I don't wear mine because of electrical hazards. Plus it's hard to pick up women with a wedding ring on. I'm kidding. Put down your stones.

My wife doesn't wear her ring because she just forgets to put it on I guess. Kind of frustrating thinking about all that money spent and it's not being worn. Hmmmm.

I wear mine all the time...have for over 22 years as has husband (honestly don't know if he's ever taken his off?).

I take mine off only when I make pizza and have to work with dough - because it is kind of yucky to get dough stuck in the diamonds.

My ring is small (we were VERY young and poor when we got married) and simple with my wedding band worn below it. I told husband that I want something bigger for Christmas this year - would never replace what I have though as they were the ones blessed by the priest when we were married.

Funny though, up until a few years ago, my kids would freak out when I would take my ring off. They thought it meant I wasn't married to their dad anymore... that's when I realized that it was just a symbol (not that I didn't know that, but more the meaning of that symbol and the importance people put on it) when I had to explain to them that we were still married and it is just a symbol.

Only time I ever take mine off is if I'm having a sauna, because the metal gets too hot.

I decided against an engagement ring because I thought it was too much money and could instead be put towards a house. Had a total of 4 bands though. The first to be married in, second while pregnant because the other didn't fit, third lost weight and first was too loose, and lastly this one which falls off every shower. Whatever that implies.

Both me & hubbie always wear ours. They are two colour gold bands with very little decoration to them (his is just a bigger version of mine), so getting them dirty in work isn't an excuse for it wearing them. He did tear his finger quite badly one time when he nearly fell off a ladder - he just swapped it to his right hand whilst his finger healed and went without his signet ring. I still have to nag him to take it off when he's doing manual work. He the puts it on a chain around his neck, same when he goes the gym.
I take off my engagement ring, my diamond and my eternity ring when washing my hands, baking, that type of thing. I just sometimes forget to put them back on, at which point he'll have a dicky fit over it. He once hid my engagement ring and it's replacement for a week to teach me a lesson after I'd left them on the dining table and gone out. I was in a blind panic searching for them because I couldn't bring myself to admit I'd misplaced them.

I put him on stop for a week in return

I don't understand why you'd go down the traditional path of getting married and then choose to not go down the traditional path of wearing rings. Anyone want to enlighten? (Apart from the safety issues people I get that).

I think for some it's very important. For others, not so much. I'm pretty traditional in nearly every aspect of marriage, but wedding rings to me aren't that important. I love mine actually and should probably get back in the habit of wearing it. For us, it's always our intention to wear it. But for whatever reason, we often forget. Some people put more emphasis on certain aspects of tradition. We put a lot of emphasis on our wedding ceremony. More than maybe some would. But for either of us, the rings aren't as important I guess. I dunno. Maybe I'll bitch at my wife tonight for being a tart and not wearing her ring.

I wear mine when I go out, that's about it. By and large, I just was never one to wear jewelry.
