Quote of the Day!

Hmmm, I guess if I'm gonna post a Quote, it may as well be an old Fave.

The Pain of Love will come and go, but the Love of Pain lasts Forever.
(Yups, it's one of mine. n.n)

"An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind."

~ Mohandas Gandhi

This is more of an excerpt than a short quote, but I felt that to cut it down at all (except for the first paragraph, marked by ***, which I omitted) would cause the statement to loose some of it's potency.

This excerpt was taken from:

Slave Craft: Roadmaps for Erotic Servitude - Principles, Skills and Tools By Guy Baldwin pg.15

A note from a grateful slave

***

Sad to say, there are some who call themselves "Master" who are undeserving of the label. Some in need of an emotional hiding place will shield themselves behind the "Master" label. Lift th shield and one can often find those who shun real intimacy, self-disclosure, commitments of any sort, responsibility, honesty, their own vulnerability, self-knowledge, and yet, nevertheless, fear abandonment.

One in search of a Master (or a slave for that matter) is certain to encounter such people, and the challenge will be to discern the pretenders from the authentic. It is not enough for Masters to thrive on control; They must also crave responsibility and approach ownership with integrity, honor, honesty, common sense, and balance. There is no place in ownership for consuming rage, narcissism, viciousness, or other childish behavior. Ownership is for grown-ups.

It is vital that those of you on the slave journey gather enough information to distinguish the real ones from the pretenders, because your errors risk wasted time at the very least, and literal destruction at worst. Worthy Masters are at least as rare as worthy slaves. Until you are confident about your selection of a Master, you absolutely must retain responsible stewardship of your life. Remember that until you hand yourself over completely, the prime directive must be:

PROTECT THE PROPERTY...always!

Fira I think you posted this in the wrong thread.

This is quotes of the day!

Perhaps you could remove it and place it else where.

I really want his to be inspirational quotes, not messages aimed at whomever.

I am assuming this wasn't meant for me.

I do agree with its content but......

Pretty please:rose:

I do have a thread where I think this would make a great spring board for discussions, I do not want that to happen here . I will look for the link!

EDIT: Fira you are welcome to post it in this thread if you like, it would be a perfect fit! :) I haven't done anything with it yet due to my illness but plan to soon!

"I have yet to find a man, however exalted his station, who did not do better work and put forth greater effort under a spirit of approval than under a spirit of criticism."

Charles Schwab

I always like this this one for no particular reason.

On the subject of Love

They do not love that do not show their love.
&
The course of true love never did run smooth.
&
Tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. ( not sure if this is Shakespeare - I think it is but not 100% certain)

William Shakespeare

Like the Measles, Love is most dangerous when caught late in life

Lord Byron

OH, I HAVE SLIPPED THE SURLY BONDS OF EARTH
AND DANCED THE SKIES ON LAUGHTER SILVERED WINGS,
SUNWARD I'VE CLIMBED, AND JOINED THE TUMBLING MIRTH
OF SUN SPILT CLOUDS - AND DONE A HUNDRED THINGS
YOU HAVE NOT DREAMED OF WHEELED AND SOARDED NO SWUNG
HIGH IN THE SUNLIT SILENCE HOV'RING THERE.
I'VE CHASED THE SHOUTING WIND ALONG AND FLUNG
MY EAGER CRAFT THOUGH FOOTLESS HALLS OF AIR.
UP, UP THE LONG DELIRIOUS, BURNING BLUE
I'VE TOPPED THE WINDSWEPT HEIGHTS WITH EASY GRACE
WHERE NEVER LARK OR EVEN EAGLE FLEW
AND WHILE WITH SILENT, LIFTING MIND I'VE TROD
THE HIGH UNTRESPASSED SANCTITY OF SPACE
PUT OUT MY HAND, AND TOUCHED THE FACE OF GOD.

JOHN GILLEPIE MAGEE, Jr.

Seen on a bumpersticker in Quebec:

"My other ride is your mom"

Scrawled on the windshield of a very muddy truck that I think used to be white

"I wish my wife was as dirty as my truck"

I absolutely had to pass these on.

Just a couple of quotes on drinking and being Irish, given the day that is in it!

"Eat, Drink and Be Merry ..... for tomorrow we die!" (Shakespeare, I think)
'
"Work is the curse of the drinking classes" Oscar Wilde

"An Irish Queer is a fella who prefers women to drink" Sean O'Faolain

"We had gone out there to pass the beautiful day of high summer like true Irishmen - locked in the dark Snug of a public house." Brendan Beehan

The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made.

Well I don't see what the difference is between something said by someone dead or famous, or something that was said from someone within our own little community here, but if that's what ya want I will abide. Just means I won't have much to say. :)

I'm having a theme moment...can you guess what it is? :D For my sister :rose:

Sisterhood is powerful. ~Robin Morgan

She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway.
