I've just finished mine, which I like. It'll take more reworking than the Typical Voboy Story, but then I had an epiphany about the ending while I was taking a shower yesterday and decided to just END IT, cold, right there. I think that ending is either brilliant or stupid; even I don't know which. If I can shape the piece up, the readers will let me know.

I think I achieved like 90% of what I set out to do, a few clunky bits of plot hole filling, and a couple of things I now think I could have handled differently. But - stepping back - considering the complicated and interlocking plot, the large cast of characters, and the multiple themes I was juggling, I couldn’t be happier about the outcome.

This one opens up in a month and closes in two months, so who is definitely in? I've got a draft that I'm excited about that could be good with some revision, so barring something crazy I'm going to be annoying you guys in this thread.

That aspect of comps seems to be getting worse over time sadly. Best to just view comps as a fun way to get some exposure.
As a test of merit they are deeply flawed.

I wasn’t planning to write anything for Valentine’s, but I literally had a story walk right in front of me last night.
I was at a country bar to see a concert for a band that I’ve been a fan of since the late 70’s. The house band was up and playing. A man in his early-mid 50’s walks out on the dance floor pushing a woman in a wheelchair.
He proceeded to two-step around the floor with this woman, complete with twirls and spins. She was happy and smiling. They did the cowboy Cha-Cha.
A little later they exited the floor where I was standing. They were on their first date.

I was trying to make progress on a story that might or might not be a V Day story when I saw the news that Rob Reiner and his wife may have been murdered in their home.

I was very happy with my Christmas story, which was about an elf falling for a human, but I really liked writing the humor into the parts that talked about the mundane North Pole bureaucracy and made it seem almost like a regular job. I also insinuated that a similar situation was occurring with demons running Spirit Halloween stores, so my Halloween story is basically lined up.

Two days ago I had no idea for Valentines Day, then I started thinking about what a similar world would look like for Valentines, and now I've got almost 5k words and half a story down about a magical corps of cupid-like beings whose day jobs are shooting love arrows into people, and who have to deal with things like corporate hierarchy, retraining, and expense and incident reports.

I'm kinda stoked on this story, guys. I just need to work out a couple more scenes, and I can write the second half.

I reckon the same premise would work for April Fools, with a band of gremlins under the command of Loki playing tricks on unsuspecting humans.

But about Nude Day? How would that work? A bunch of naughty fairies making people’s clothes fall off?
