Since the school year of 1986-87 Asians have increased the gap in mathematics scores on the SAT. They have reduced the gap in reading scores. For many of these Asians English is a second language. Nevertheless, they are catching up.

Recently, I made the case that the “merit plea” opposing affirmative action is an inherently racist argument. In the blog, I briefly mentioned that the SAT is racially biased and not an adequate measurement of merit, as many would lead us to believe. The test is and has long been biased against African-Americans.

For me, grossly and consistently unequal outcomes almost always prove racist intent. The annual outcome of Whites out-scoring Blacks on the SAT demonstrates intent, proves the test is biased. I do not need evidence that shows racist intent. The outcome, for me, is enough.

Dr. Kendi assumes, with no evidence at all, that blacks and whites are equal in abilities. There is no evidence of that at all. Blacks tend to perform poorly on all the mental aptitude tests however they are designed. They always have. They also tend to perform poorly in school, even when the schools they attend are well financed.

Does the SAT Have A Racial Bias?

For years, the SAT has come under attack for having a certain bent. From the Harvard Educational Review to the Princeton Review, the measurement tool has been called a "white preference test."

Last year, Harvard published a study arguing that SAT questions in the verbal section favored white students by using language with which they were more familiar compared to other non-white groups. The study said black students of equal academic aptitude scored lower on the section, Education Week reported.

There is no explanation in this article of how academic aptitude is measured, if not by standardized tests.

I have read that even when SAT scores are held constant blacks tend to perform less well in college than whites.

I have also read that blacks whose parents are well educated and well paid tend to get lower SAT scores than whites whose parents are much less well educated, and much less well paid.

The judge concluded he “cannot quarrel” with that finding. All this article says really is that children from some races tend to perform better on the tests than children from other tests. That is what I have been saying all along. Unless it could be shown that children from different races tend to perform equally in school, and it cannot, all this means is that people from some races are more intelligent than people from other races.

There's also some research to indicate that some of the genes responsible for intelligence are on mitochondrial dna, meaning that it's inherited more matralinially than patralinially. Which is great for me, because my baby's mamma is way smarter than I am and I hope to god the kidlet takes after her.

But no one is going to tell you that intelligence is purely hereditary. If it were there would be no point to having any kind of educational system. Why do that if people can't get any smarter?

Intelligent people are not born with knowledge. They have to acquire it through education. Nevertheless, intelligent people are able to learn faster than people of average intelligence. They are able to learn more than people of average intelligence.
