Rambling Rosie's Retreat

David Lynch gone? :( We need that kind of weird in the world. @Wriggle it's down to you now - be weird.
I certainly will be.

But it brings back a thought I've had a thousand times...

When I was younger I wanted to be unique and different:; bolder and braver - not like society. Yet I was a gregarious misanthrope.

But then I met others that were different or oddballs and realised that actually I took no longer wanted to be a pariah - I wanted to be part of something bigger.
It was just a case of realising different and weird people are not so different and certainly not that weird.

Finding people who liked these odd films by Lynch in the most Hollywood US version on the rotten tomatoes forum gave me a wonderful sense of inclusion.

Ah relief! I've been working on a revision of one of my stories at Lit for a couple of weeks. Now submitted as an edited version 🤞From past experience, edited stories are on a slower queue so I'm not going to hold my breath. It's my other football ( soccer ) story... I'm wondering if I have a third footie story in me?

You should totally go for a hat trick!

Remind me of the nature of your poorliness, please :rose:
Had a god awful cold at Xmas and now I have a chest infection. Or maybe I always had both and couldn't tell because everything just felt shit...

But everything else has cleared up except for the crap in my lungs and fingers crossed the antibiotics will do their thing and free me from this curse

My wife has been coughing since the start of December, but won't go to her GP for antibiotics

Oh that's no good. I put it off for ages because I just thought I was run down from everything but I'm glad I went and hopefully she'll go too

Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (aka walking pneumonia) is at a high prevalence rate basically everywhere in the US right now. I haven't seen data on the UK. A cough for 6 weeks is definitely worth a GP visit, especially if the cough is productive.

I have an aunt who's had the 'six-week' cold with chesty cough. It really doesn't help when smug people say - Oh, that's going around. You'll just have to be patient. Plenty of patients in the graveyard!
Take the drugs, Rosie and be a nuisance.

Sometimes the answer is to just be patient, sometimes the answer is antibiotics. It's hard to tell which is the correct answer without a stethoscope.

Oh I got told off for waiting so long. Thing is though in the past when I have been super run down I've ended up with coughs that took ages to clear and the Dr's always told me they were viral and to rest up so that's what I've been trying to do but obviously the one time I didn't go I actually needed to.

I don't think age or your medical history have any bearing: if you've had a cough for 'x' number of weeks, then clearly your body isn't winning and needs help.
Our crappy UK damp cold weather is mostly to blame... that and coal-mining, but I know you only work on the pit-head these days, not on the face like you used to.

Talking of good things ^^^, if you like the UK comedian Sara Pascoe, and as a bonus Kirsty Young, then here they are in conversation on Kirsty's podcast
NB I think you need to be in the UK and sign in to your BBC account, which is free and you can lie about having a tv licence.
I was able to listen to it at work today and it's a joy.
