Lindi’s Lovely Little Lit Location

I feel sexiest when I’m smooth. It’s something that I’ve noticed since joining lit. You could say that social norms and partners have shaped it somewhat, however, while I don’t mind a bit of growth, bare is my preference.
My person likes hair, and even though it’s his preference he is reminding me to shave so I feel my sexiest.
What are things that you never seem to find time for, for yourself, but you can manage in a heartbeat if it’s for a special someone?

Vacuuming my sofa.

My partner being allergic to cats means I do it every week instead of maybe twice a year. Even vacuuming in general, can't skip it now - and as an asthmatic I shouldn't skip it for myself either, but I might only do it once a month!

It's cooking a meal whether it is just dinner or enough for a whole week of meal prep. I don't go off a recipe but still keep temps and time in check.

Going to work out where I push myself to walk a little bit longer when I didn't want to.

Yes, shaving is my little oh I feel sexy again and washing my hair.

I would add in cleaning and laundry, like vacuuming.

For him, greeting when he walks in the door from a long hard/busy day.

Lately, its been trying styles out of my comfort zone, or a size down from what I mentally think i am and realizing I look good, I can feel good.

Oh yes, washing my hair! Have to do it before a date, even if I could push it if I was alone.

Spoiling myself once in a while because someone reminds me that I should.

It was an education really. I concentrated so much on taking care of the family that I denied myself.

Current situation here is that she cooks dinner twice a week.
There are times she gets take out also, but normally we keep stuff stocked so we and our son can make out our own.
I like the variety this causes and to be honest there are times I want something more simple really.

I know you didn't ask me, but this thread was too quiet.

This might be a cop-out, but my Lit use is generally governed by how busy work gets. Some weeks I can barely check in, others I'm making a nuisance of myself all day!

I've had a couple of longer breaks, more deliberate, but that has been more to do with real-life than anything else.

It's nice to know my favourites are still here!

Thank you for your reply. Definitely not a cop out. Real life definitely has the tendency to wreak havoc on the ole lit life and the associated chats.

I just got back to Lit so this is a perfect question. Why? I'm at a place and time in my life that I have enough free time to engage. I've met some really fun people over the years and maybe hoping to either reconnect or make new friends.

Sometimes real life gets in the way and getting back feels like a reunion.

I honestly don't remember. The last time I was here was 7 years ago? I think it had Army in it somewhere. It took me a bit to find this place again.

I joined not too long ago and then life threw in a sucker punch and just now getting back into it.

I've had breaks from here, including some lasting for months, but I've never actually left and rejoined. Sometimes because of time and other priorities, other times because being here wasn't making me happy, and you can't force Lit to be what you want.

Anyone's relationship with Lit depends on all sorts of things. For me, much of it is time, and I don't have much of it. I can pop in for ten minutes and answer a question like this even if I'm interrupted while typing. But for friendships, I find it much harder to get those forty minutes for a proper catch up with a friend. I used to, but I no longer can so easily. I used to PM people much more than I now do, because I'm a bad correspondent nowadays.

Lit is the one form of social media I'm still using. I left the rest when they became places where unpleasant people hurled hatred at each other from opposite directions, and those of us wanting to live peacefully in the middle got hit by the fallout. But Lit just points those people to the Politics threads and the rest of us are left to get on with it

I am also finding this. I just don’t PM anymore and it’s not because I don’t care (they’re all amazing) it’s more I don’t have enough spoons.

as always you have such a great way of looking at things. Good on you for doing what you needed. I’ve always been curious to venture to the politics threads but was warned seconds after signing up the first time that it would be suicide.

Time is such a massive factor with lit life and while I love the safety of chatting with someone from another country, time zones mean the ability to form a bond or connection further than the occasional chat is incredibly difficult. Add to that real life responsibility and it all becomes too much. The fun and silliness is great though and I’ve formed some genuine friendships . Hopefully they’re friendships that continue forever (although the feasibility feels questionable)

My initial reason for coming onto the site was because I was encouraged by a crush at the time to post my stories here.
Although the crush left, I found the forums and had people to socialize with. So I stayed.
I took a few breaks along the way either to heal a broken heart or because life got in the way.
Along the way, I made friends. Some became really good friends as in socializing offline and such while others fell by the wayside due to different factors.
It's a place for me to explore, to find folks to chat with, to be inspired for things and to catch up with old friends. *hugs @lindi_85 *
It's not always the best place. I used to have on my sig line that "Lit is like wasabi. Better in small doses."
Still, it is usually the first place I log onto when I first wake up in the morning and when I get home from work just to see what and who I have missed.
I may not contribute as much on the story side anymore for different reasons, but I like popping on here.
