Hey, I'm just curious whether anyone else here has ADD/ADHD and, if so, how it affects their sex life re: attention span, risk taking, constant need for stimulation (of every kind!) etc etc. Oh, and how you deal with it.

Does that work for you?

It works for my Nephew. Many Parents are taking their kids off drugs and using the patches. No side effects.

Edit: my Nephew is now 22 and has been on the patch for about 7 years. I have no idea how it effects his sex life....lol

heh, no, I guess that's not really a question you can ask him!! :)

I'm on the drugs, I only got diagnosed a few months ago, and they totally make a difference. I read on another site (ADD site) that we're more likely to be into BDSM and risky sex due to the thrill seeking nature of ADD and our low boredom threshold, I just wondered what others felt.

Three cheers for exciting sex!!

I was diagnosed with a pretty severe case of Inattentive ADHD (ADD to most), when I was a freshman in college. I never really struggled in high school, and it's probably cause my parents rode my ass nonstop. So, when I got to college and was on my own, it pretty much took a strong hold on me.

Needless to say, I was (and still am) at a sexual peak in my life. I have realized that medication (adderall, concerta, etc.) has had the main impact on my sex life. I seem to be much more in touch with my body, and thus, I have a TREMENDOUS awareness of the need for stimulation (of every kind!). Contrary to my medicine's typical side-effects, I have a much higher sex drive and am far more "experimental" when I am on meds. On days I don't take them, I seem to be much more of a "wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am" kind of guy (just a typical horny dude).

Oh yeah, I do like to take [sexual] "risks" moreso than my pre-ADD days. Like I said though, I think it's mainly due to my meds.

*just a side-note...I am well aware of the "ADD/ADHD diagnosis & need for medication nay-sayers" out there. For the record, I would do ANYTHING to eliminate medication for my ADD; but, I have come to realize that this is a VERY REAL psychological AND physiological disorder. If you feel you are one of these "holier-than-thou" philosophers who think my problem is a result of bad parenting, or laziness, or some other shit--you can save your breath, I've already heard what you have to say. You are wrong.

I personal do not have ADD/ADHD but an old room mate and friend did. Her attention span was that of a gnat most days even when she did remembered to take her meds. Kinda funny actually....decided to eat uncooked ramen one day because she couldn't quite get the cooking of it together...Anyhow, her sex life was as vanilla as you can get. Wouldn't even say the word vagina and anything other than missionary was out for her. But yet her lingerine collection was awesome. Her take on it was that her upbringing effected her sexual interests more than ADD.
