Reading Books For Pleasure

Over the course of the books so far, I've gotten increasingly angry at how everyone treats Harry.
My mother dislikes the books for just that reason. I think she stopped reading them in the middle of Book 2.

i have to say I think he will survive . But Im sure Snape is a bad guy sorry but Im not a trusting sort. lol
I'll take both those bets.

Permanent "I told you so!" rights on the line. ;)

I LOVE the Harry Potter books. They are why my daughter started reading bigger chapter books in 1st grade. The whole family plus my sister, brother some nieces and nephews are going down to B&N dressed up for the book party. I'm going as Prof. McGonagal. I can't wait.

I think Snape is really on the side of good. But then again I always see the best in people. I hope Harry survives, but even more so I hope Ron and Hermione aren't killed off.
A McGonagall costume - that's awesome! My niece bears a startling resemblance to Emma Watson and will be at a Border's party as Hermione, with her best friend dressed as Tonks.

As for Rowling's plans for Ron & Hermione, my prediction is eventual wedded bliss.

Recently I've been on a reading frenzy of reading Danish and Swedishs crime/mystery novels.

So far I've read "Isprinsessa" and "The Preacher" by Camilla Läckberg, the first two books by Sra Blædel and the first two books by Stieg Larsson. I must say that his books are quite the page turners, it's a bit sad that he's dead and there'll only be 3 books by him.

I will admit that I'll among the Harry Potter fans that will be busy reading next weekend. It'll be interesting to read the end of the tale.

Yes, I was a Harry fan before they were cool. And I love watching Hermione's tits grow in each movie.

I could see that for Ron and Hermione.

Those sound interesting!

I have an author that used to write these amusing and snappy books based in my small bedroom community who died. That's all she wrote. It's so sad.

I won't be reading the new HP so soon. I can wait.

I'd say that was awful if I hadn't enjoyed seeing Harry's nude shots earlier this year.

Oh, thank God I'm not the only person over the age of 20 who likes these books. ;)

Apparently you're not suffering from my niece's current affliction - spoilerphobia. I'll try not to let anything slip at the end of July..... but it might cost you. :p

I agree about Snape, since I can't see Rowling ending the series with Dumbledore effectively rendered a fool or failure in a such a significant way.

As for Harry.... I don't think he'll survive through the end of the tale. He's too much like Christ, or Frodo. Placed in the story for the specific purpose of sacrificing himself to save everyone else from Evil.
I just saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix tonight! Yea! So as not to be a "spoiler" for those who haven't read the book for a while, I won't repeat the prophecy itself, but there is in the prophecy something that has made me change my mind about Harry's chances... : Neon

The exact wording of the prophecy has already dis-proven itself IMO. Someone messed that up.

i think so too besides after reading the last book im thinking that harry will prevail but i do wonder about him and ginny

I'm reading a good book. Warrior Soul by Chuck Pfarrer. The memoir of a Navy SEAL.

Ah the bliss of reading a book that is exactly MY Thang! Woo hoo!

Death Masks Book Five of The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher 4.75/5

I'm almost positive someone has probably mentioned this series of books, but just in case, has anyone read 'Kushiel's Dart'? There are other books that follow it. If you like epic fantasy with a good amount of masochism you will like this series :) Courtesans, wars, political intrigue, magic... yay <3

I am patiently waiting for the mailman to get here with my Harry Potter.

I may be offline for a while.

Now that does sound good. I'm into post apocalyptic themes!

Have you read the James Axler series, Deathlands, then? Of course axler is the nom de plume of a small stable of writers all under the same publishing house. They even mad a movie form 1 book if I remember correctly.

I adore these books. For me, they are easily the best selections we've had in the BDSM Book of the month club thread.

That could happen too.

LOL!

That's true for a few of my buds.

I can wait.

However, a book club I'm starting up for my girl, might have this as their first selection. We shall see.

No! I will have to check them out when I run low on reading materials!

Cool!

This is all new to me.

Undead and Uneasy by Mary Janice Davidson was very enjoyable as are the others in the series. My only problem is that I suspect I slipped up and missed one somewhere along the way. I need to research that. When I have some time.

Alas, I suffer from Post-Potter Depression!

*sigh* me too. I grew up with those books and now there will never be another one. I liked how it ended though, all except the epilogue that is.

You never know, there could be. There won't be another by Rowling but she's said that now that she's done she wouldn't object if others added to the Potter-verse.
