Reading Books For Pleasure

I just finished Twilight by Stephenie Meyer today..I bought it Wednesday and finished it today..now I need to get the rest of the books in the series...

*laughs* Ohhh, welcome to the world of the Cullens:D Once you go Cullen you'll neve go back ;) Honestly, I was like that, I put off reading them for so long and then was completely and uttely hooked. Although I am a bit like obsessed fan girl right now. lol Wait till you get to Breaking Dawn...

I have most of the Kim Harrison book, but I can't get past the first few chapters of the first book for some reason :( I don't know why...

Right now I'm reading Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell. I hate to say this, after 20 years, I think Scarpetta has had her day. It's interesting enough...but there is something missing.

I recently read Heartsick by Chelsea Cain. The relationship between the lead detective and the female serial killer was astounding. It was such a gripping read!

Oh Girl I am with you on that.I am kicking myself for not buying the second book...Damn I want Edward to bite me..LMAO...I was honestly just so turned off by hearing everyone rave about the books and here I am drooling over the first one..I can't wait to read the rest of them..I am hooked..I told a couple people yesterday when I finished the first one "Oh I can't wait to see if he turns Bella"!

I have not read Cornwell in a while but say that book and thought about picking it up..I hate to hear that something is missing..I always have liked Scarpretta's character..Matter of fact I can't remember the last book of her's I read..I bought one and never did pick it up after I bought it..

Oh wait until you read further...*claps hands excitedly* :D That was my first reaction to Edward too. I am a firm believer that evey girl/woman should have at least one Edward Cullen in her life - not a vampire, lol, just a gallant gentleman. Although towards the later books, I became a big fan of Jacob...I'm a sucker for a smart ass with a sarcastic mouth:eek:

That could be cool if she did make that wish and it comes true!

:rose:

Oh and I'm not an Edward fan. I'm a Jacob fan.

LOL...love hearing those excited hand claps! :D

Yes you are so right that every woman should have a Edward in her life..Okay thanks for the heads up about Jacob...Can't wait to see if I change my mind too!

The Right Mistake by Walter Mosley was a really good book for me. It is very thought provoking. I've read all of his books so far and only disliked a very few. He is a great philosopher, observer and writer.

has anyone read
the Possession or Strictly Taboo by Jaid Black
or
this series B.A.D.: Bureau of American Defense) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I am looking for somthing new to read and thought I should check them out here before I buy them. See what the general opinion of them is.
Thanks

I've read all the BAD books, mainly because SK is one of my heroines in the literary world. I like them - a lot. However, they are not as dark or as intense as her Dark Hunter books. In her full length BAD books there is not much sex - so if you are looking for hot, steamy sex you my be disappointed. But they have some great plots and are more action/adventure types.

Now, if you are looking for something steamy, I'd go with Jaid Black. Both are good but I'd go with Strictly Taboo.

Hope that helps some!

Thank you ShyVixen;
It helps I've run low on things to read and I hate to buy a book and not be able to finish it because it's so bad.
Kim Harrison is coming out with a new series in May
Once Dead, Twice Shy (Madison Avery, Book 1) I hope it is good

I can also recommend JR Ward's Brotherhood series. I just love that series, oh and Karen Marie Moning's Fever series too ;)

I've just finished the Twilight series for about the 2nd or 3rd time I think. Still completely in love with Edward though :)

Rigt now, I can't afford anything new, and I'm really, really bad at returning loans to the library, so will trawl through my bookcase again.

Matthew Reilly is always worth a look in, especially 7 Ancient Wonders and 6 Sacred Stones. The action is fast paced, but some of the ideas presented in regards to the ancient wonders, sun cults, dark stars, ancient super races etc is pretty mind boggling.

I also need to go through Isobelle Carmody's "Obernewtyn" series again. Sure, it's pitched at younger readers, and I *did* start the series when I was in grade 3, but the last one is due late this year and I need to be prepped. It's an interesting tale of a post apocolyptic world, where relgious fervour rules the day and the misfits with the extraordinary mental abilities must hide.

And that might be all I get to in 2009 cos I don't think Lehninger's Principles of Biochemistry counts as pleasure reading :D

Matthew Reilly is always on my must buy list. I read Temple back when I was 17 and it still remains one of my favourite books.

*twitches at the mention of Twilight* I'm complete Twilight 'fan girl' right now.

I'm about to finish Death Angel by Linda Howard but I don't want it to end!

I haven't read a Linda Howard book for years, but Death Angel sounds interesting.

Her books are really romances but they have enough action and storyline in them I can still really get into them.

This one had someone come back from the dead!

Another one, Killing Time, had time travel in it.

A couple, To Die for and Drop Dead Gorgeous had a lady so funny it made me laugh throughout the book.

I love a lot of her books.

I've read her earlier books like To Die For and I think one was called Kiss Me While I Sleep...or something like that lol I enjoy her blend of romance and action. I've had Drop Dead Gorgeous on my shelf for a while but never got around to reading it.

Once I'm done with All U Can Eat next up is Lover enshrined by JR Ward. I've already read it but it's one of my fave series.

I LOVED To Die For and Drop Dead Gorgeous. She writes so well that I often want more of the story with those characters. Her sex always has D/s elements. Her female leads almost always end up with a policeman of some sort. I've heard she's married to one! I think she might be kinky. LOL.

LOL Well I write kink and I'm kinky...so I would say yes, she is kinky! and oh, she's married to a policeman? See now that explains it! I just thought she had wild fantasies about men in uniform... ;)
